Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1059: Final Answer

Chapter 1059: Final Answer

Ten minutes later.

"Actually, let's try both."

Michael had long since given up resisting.

Eventually, the dressing room curtain opened once more. The store became noticeably quieter.

Arianne slowly stepped out. For several seconds neither she nor Michael spoke. Even Arianne seemed stunned by her own reflection.

The flowing noble dress she had worn earlier was gone. In its place was a cream-colored long coat layered over a soft black turtleneck sweater and a fitted dark skirt that reached just below her knees.

Simple. Modern. Elegant.

The outfit somehow emphasized her emerald eyes and golden hair even more than her noble attire had.

Arianne stared at the mirror. The woman looking back at her felt familiar. Yet unfamiliar. Like herself. But also not herself.

A middle-aged woman immediately clapped her hands.

"I knew it!" She pointed dramatically at the mirror. "Look at her!"

The woman turned toward Michael.

"Young man, your friend is beautiful."

Arianne blinked. Though she couldn't understand the language, she could tell the woman was praising her.

The older woman walked around her, then nodded in complete satisfaction.

"Perfect."

Arianne looked at her reflection again. For the first time since arriving in Aurora, she felt something unexpected.

She belonged. At least a little.

And somehow, that realization made the overwhelming strangeness of this new world feel just a bit less frightening.

Soon, Michael and Arianne returned home. Or rather, they returned to Michael's home.

Even now, Arianne still felt somewhat dazed. The trip through Aurora had overwhelmed her far more than she cared to admit. Every street. Every building. Every person. Every object. Everything challenged what she believed the world should be.

After entering the apartment, Michael led her back to his room. The moment they entered, Arianne instinctively glanced toward the light switch.

Michael immediately noticed.

"…No."

Arianne looked somewhat disappointed and looked away.

Michael walked toward his desk and placed several bags down. Then he picked up a small package before turning around.

"Here."

Arianne's eyes fell onto the object in his hand, and her expression immediately changed at the familiar shape beneath the wrapping.

"This is…"

Michael nodded.

"Chocolates."

Arianne accepted it carefully. The moment she held it, memories surfaced. This wasn't the first time Michael had given her one of these. At the time, Michael had simply told her they came from back home, and Arianne had believed him.

Now she realized he hadn't lied. The problem was that his "back home" wasn't another city, but an entirely different world.

The thought made her stare at the chocolate for several seconds. How strange. A simple snack she had eaten before suddenly felt completely different.

Slowly, she unwrapped it. Then took a bite.

Crunch.

The familiar sweetness spread across her tongue. Arianne's eyes brightened slightly.

"…"

Another bite followed. The rich sweetness melted inside her mouth.

It was still delicious. Perhaps even more delicious now that she knew where it came from.

Michael watched from nearby. A faint smile appeared on his face.

Meanwhile, Arianne examined the half-eaten chocolate in her hand. Then she looked around the room, and at the clothes she was currently wearing.

Everything felt surreal. A few hours ago she had thought Sir Mic was simply a mysterious genius with a strange background. Now she knew the truth was far more ridiculous.

The thought made her glance toward him again. This time, her gaze lingered.

The Michael standing before her looked younger than the Sir Mic she knew. More relaxed. Less distant. The aura of an untouchable lord was gone. In its place stood a young man.

Arianne's lips slowly curved upward. Then she took another bite of chocolate.

For some reason, the confusion and fear she had felt earlier seemed much smaller now. Perhaps it was because Aurora truly existed. Or perhaps it was because despite all the impossible truths she had learned today, one thing remained unchanged.

Whether he was Sir Mic. Or Michael. The person standing before her was still the same person who had crossed an empire for her. The same person who had brought her back from death. The same person who looked absurdly nervous whenever she got too close.

That thought comforted her more than she expected.

Crunch.

Arianne took another bite of chocolate when she suddenly heard Michael speak.

"So…"

His voice carried an unusual hesitation.

Arianne looked up. Michael was standing a short distance away. His hands were in his pockets. His posture appeared relaxed.

Yet somehow his nervousness was still visible to Arianne.

"So?" Arianne repeated.

Michael was silent for several seconds. Then he finally asked.

"What do you think?"

The room became quiet.

At first Arianne didn't answer. Instead, she simply looked at him and saw the uncertainty in his eyes. The tension in his shoulders.

Seeing that expression unexpectedly made the unease inside her relax a little. A lot of her earlier confusion remained. But somehow seeing Michael look this uneasy reassured her.

Arianne slowly lowered the chocolate. Then a small smile appeared on her face.

"Sir… Michael."

"Hm?"

"Were you worried?"

"About what?"

Arianne tilted her head.

"That I would stop liking you."

The words landed like a hammer. Michael immediately froze.

Arianne's smile widened slightly, because for a brief moment she had actually seen a flicker of panic flash across his face.

Unfortunately for Michael, his silence answered her question better than any words could.

The room became quiet again.

Eventually Michael let out a slow breath. He rubbed his forehead before speaking again.

"Miss Arianne."

His voice became more serious.

"A relationship shouldn't be built on falsehoods."

The smile on Arianne's face softened.

Michael continued.

"You deserved to know."

"I know."

"You only knew Mic Nor."

Arianne remained silent.

"You didn't know Michael." His gaze lowered slightly. "I kept wondering whether your feelings were directed at me, or at the person you thought I was."

For several moments neither spoke. Then unexpectedly Arianne asked a question.

"Can I ask something?"

Michael nodded.

"Of course."

Arianne stared directly into his eyes.
