Chapter 1068: Forced Entry?
Chapter 1068: Forced Entry?
Aside from methods that could increase the possibility of more awakeners, there was another thought most awakeners had entertained at least once.
What would happen if everyone became an awakener?
But was such a reality even possible? Unless every existing awakener decided to kill every non-awakener in existence, it clearly wasn't.
Awakeners had always been treated as a minority. No one had seriously considered what it would mean for their numbers across the universe to reach a truly terrifying scale. After all, the universe was too vast.
But now, every awakener in the universe stared at the same panel.
[Universal Milestone Achieved!]
[Five percent of the universe has successfully integrated with the Origin Will.]
[Opening access to the Origin Battlefield.]
What did five percent of the universe actually mean?
Michael didn't have an accurate grasp of it, but he could tell it was a terrifying number.
A realm with a billion people didn't mean a hundred million of them would be awakeners. The same held true even at ten million, or a million.
The mortality rate for supernaturals, even awakeners, was high. Even in his short time as an awakener, Michael had already come face to face with death several times.
Was it his first encounter with Jester? Or the attack on Woodstone City by demonic supernaturals, barely a week after his awakening?
It was only because of his talent that he had survived those ordeals. But what about those who weren't as lucky?
They were dead.
Michael's time as an awakener was still brief, and because he was so strong, even his own brushes with death hadn't fully shown him how the majority actually lived.
After all, unless someone had no desire for strength at all, every supernatural eventually had to fight for resources.
Even powerful figures like the dean and vice dean of his academy had to spend long stretches in the lower levels of hell just to keep growing, where a single mistake could cost them their life.
Given all this, wasn't it inevitable that awakeners would always remain a cold, small number?
And yet now they made up five percent of the universe's population.
It was a difficult idea to grasp at first, before it slowly became understandable.
Yes, awakeners were rare. But what was the one thing they had that ordinary people didn't?
A long lifespan.
Even an untalented awakener, given enough time, could grind their way up to the peak of rank 2, which represented the highest average tier of awakeners across the universe.
Though that level wasn't particularly strong in the grand scheme of things, even people at that stage could live up to five hundred years.
The mortality rate among supernaturals was high, but not as high as among ordinary people. At least supernaturals could defend themselves. Ordinary people could not.
Every year, new realms containing billions of lives were devoured by supernaturals. Even in the early days of Aurora's apocalypse, demonic supernaturals had casually sacrificed hundreds of thousands of people for their own gain.
Put together with the long lifespans of awakeners, the accumulated total of those who survived long enough could indeed reach a terrifying scale.
What no one had expected, though, was for it to become a milestone the Origin Will itself would acknowledge.
"What's this, cousin?" Lily asked, a hint of fear in her voice.
"I don't know, but it's best if you don't attempt to communicate with your mark of origin. Just remain still," Michael's deep voice echoed, a grave expression settling on his face.
Origin battlefield?
Did this have any relation to the Land of Origin? Was it another alternate space that only awakeners could enter?
And given that it was called a battlefield, did that mean only awakeners would exist there, and that they would be forced to fight?
For some reason, none of Michael's thoughts were optimistic.
As several possibilities flashed through his mind, beads of sweat began forming on his forehead.
He was just about to reach for his phone, intending to log into the Supers Association forum to search for anything related to this phenomenon, when several panels appeared before him again.
[The Origin Battlefield is a space catering exclusively to awakeners and serves as their primary intended cultivation ground.] [Each rank possesses its own layer within the Origin Battlefield, governed by its own rules.]
[Awakener Michael Norman detected as a Rank 3 Awakener. Your dedicated battlefield is the Origin Battlefield, Third Layer. Please enter as soon as possible and fulfill your required time quota.] [Required Time Quota:]
Zeroth Layer: 480 hours every 30 days (calculated at 24 hours a day).
First Layer: 240 hours every 30 days.
Second Layer: 7 days every 60 days.
Third Layer: one month every 90 days.
Fourth Layer: one month every 180 days.
Fifth Layer: one month every 365 days.
[Failure to fulfill the required time will result in forced entry. Please make adequate preparations for true body descent.] [Time remaining for awakener to enter: 23:57:56]
"The Origin Will is forcing me to enter?"
"Cousin! Another panel appeared!" Lily called out in alarm.
Michael first calmed her down before asking for the details of what had appeared in her vision.
Like him, she had received a similar message.
Unlike him, her dedicated location was the Zeroth Layer, but this didn't exempt her from the same forced entry.
Thanks to the information provided by the panels, Michael could understand his situation a bit better, but it didn't make his expression any less grim.
For now, he could tell that, like the Land of Origin, the Origin Battlefield was a space only awakeners could enter. But unlike the Land of Origin, where natives existed, whoever he encountered in this new space would undoubtedly be an awakener.
And worse still, they had to use their true bodies to enter!
One should know that, except in a few rare cases, death in the Land of Origin wasn't true death. An awakener would only lose ten percent of their stats and a clone, and would simply be barred from re-entering the Land of Origin for a while.
But if their true body died, it was true death. And according to the panels, they had to use their actual bodies to enter!
The danger of the situation had just escalated by several levels!
