Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1076: Confrontation [1]

Chapter 1076: Confrontation [1]

Immediately switching to Wisdom State, Michael's power over the void dramatically increased by several levels, his body becoming a blur, appearing for only the briefest moment before flickering to another location.

Unfortunately, his speed of escape only made the three presences behind him push their pace even further.

Seeing the distance he had just created instantly close again, Michael's heart grew a bit heavy.

For these three to carry presences more powerful than even his highest-level undead meant they too were at level 100.

What he didn't know was whether they were old and powerful thanks to time, or whether they were simply geniuses on top of everything else.

If it was the former, then if worst came to worst, he could fight it out with them. But if they happened to be geniuses who might even sit within the extreme threshold of the Origin Battlefield, then unless he was willing to risk a loss, all he could do was run obediently.

As for dropping the treasure, that wasn't an option at all.

At this point, Michael had already avoided confrontation several times.

Several awakeners had attempted to block his path. Unfortunately for them, Michael was not merely someone who could use spatial movement. In his Wisdom State, his understanding and control over the void rose to a terrifying level.

Their interceptions were useless. The moment they thought they had surrounded him, he would vanish. The moment they sealed one direction, he would slip through another.

Sometimes he didn't even appear where they expected him to.

To most of the Rank Four awakeners chasing him, Michael was like a ghost flickering through space itself.

However, the pursuers were not fools. After several failed attempts, they quickly realized what he intended to do. He was trying to break the encirclement entirely.

Soon, several groups stopped chasing blindly. Instead, they began coordinating. Powerful auras gathered ahead of him. One by one, figures appeared in the air, forming a loose net across the sky.

Michael's eyes narrowed.

"Troublesome."

The next instant, his body blurred again. Space folded. He vanished from his original position and reappeared several miles away.

Just one more teleportation and he would break through the encirclement entirely.

But at that moment, Michael's expression changed. His movement locked. For the briefest instant, the surrounding space hardened like solid iron.

Then an external force seized him.

It didn't injure him, nor did it intend to. It simply interfered with the space around him and forcefully dragged him elsewhere.

Michael's vision shifted. A heartbeat later, he appeared above a wide valley. Dozens of figures floated in the air around him. Some looked human. Others clearly were not.

There were horned races, winged races, scaled races, giants with stone-like skin, spirits with transparent bodies, and several beings Michael couldn't immediately identify.

Each radiated the aura of a Rank Four supernatural, and thanks to the age of some, their auras were even stronger still.

None of them looked weak.

Michael's gaze instantly landed on one figure standing farther back. It was a thin man with pale gray skin and six eyes arranged vertically across his face.

In his hand was a bronze compass covered in silver runes. The compass was still trembling faintly.

Michael's senses locked onto it.

"…Epic Grade."

His expression turned slightly colder. Sure enough, the Origin Battlefield was not simple. Treasures that would be considered rare and valuable outside were clearly not as uncommon here, at least not among powerful awakeners who had survived long enough.

An Epic Grade spatial treasure. Outside, something like that would make countless factions go to war. Here, someone had casually used it to drag him into an ambush.

Michael exhaled softly. Unfortunately, he had no time to waste. The purple glow around the Heavenly Enlightenment Incense hadn't faded completely yet.

As long as it continued shining, more awakeners would keep coming.

The thin six-eyed man spoke first.

"Hand over the treasure and we can—"

He never finished.

The moment Michael understood the situation, his thoughts accelerated. At the same time, one of the engravings belonging to his undead griffin shone faintly.

Among Michael's undead, Gale was one of the strongest, holding dominion over wind and storm. Its trait was copied instantly.

Michael's eyes turned cold.

"Move."

His voice was quiet.

Then the sky screamed.

A terrifying storm erupted around him without warning. Wind compressed into countless blades, each one nearly invisible and sharp enough to tear through enchanted metal.

The valley vanished beneath a hurricane of cutting light.

The awakeners surrounding him reacted immediately, but Michael's spell had been too sudden.

A dozen figures were caught before they could fully defend. Blood sprayed into the air. Several screams rang out.

One winged awakener had half his feathers shredded apart. A scaled giant raised both arms to block, only for dozens of wind blades to carve deep marks across his skin.

The six-eyed man's expression changed sharply as the bronze compass in his hand trembled violently.

"He's not ordinary!"

Michael didn't care. The storm wasn't meant to kill them all. It was meant to create space. The instant the wind blades tore open a gap in the encirclement, Michael stepped forward.

Space twisted around him again. However, this time, before anyone could activate another treasure, Michael's figure split into several afterimages.

Each one moved in a different direction.

The awakeners hesitated for less than half a second.

But half a second was enough.

Michael's real body appeared at the edge of the valley, the Heavenly Enlightenment Incense still clenched tightly in his hand.

His expression remained calm, but his eyes were colder than before.

"I really don't have time to play with you people."

The next moment, the storm behind him exploded outward, and Michael vanished again.

A few seconds after he disappeared, three powerful presences arrived at his previous location.
