Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1158: Dead?

Chapter 1158: Dead?

Meanwhile, back on the battlefield, the tiny rodent never even understood what had happened.

The instant it appeared where Michael had once stood, countless terrifying auras crashed down upon its insignificant body.

The lingering pressure of two Demigod-level dragons. The blood-robed Demigod's aura. The Federation Demigod's presence. The unstable space itself.

It was simply too much.

The poor creature did not even have time to squeak. Its body burst into a cloud of blood before instantly disintegrating into ash. Not even a corpse remained.

The old man stared blankly at the empty space within his hand.

"…"

A spatial exchange?

His gaze became much more serious.

"What an astonishing escape method…"

For the first time, he felt he understood why the blood-robed woman had failed to capture this young man despite possessing overwhelming cultivation. His survival ability alone bordered on the absurd.

Unfortunately, there was no time to dwell on it.

A terrifying wave of energy erupted behind him. The old man's expression changed slightly. Without Michael's further commands, the Bone Dragon continued executing its last order.

ROOOOOOAAAAAR!!

The Bone Dragon's gigantic skeletal body descended from the heavens. Blue flames wrapped around its crystal-like claws. The surrounding sky dimmed. Even the unstable space trembled beneath the approaching pressure.

The old man sighed internally.

"So it has come to this."

He gently raised one hand. There was no grand chant. No elaborate formation. Only a single drop of water appeared above his fingertip. The droplet was perfectly clear. No larger than a raindrop.

Yet the instant it appeared, the surrounding world changed.

Within only a fraction of a second, an enormous ocean had materialized above the battlefield.

The old man calmly pointed forward. The countless tons of water compressed instantly.

An ocean became a river. A river became a torrent. A torrent became a spear.

The water no longer resembled liquid.

It shone with a deep azure brilliance, compressed to such an extent that the surrounding space warped beneath its density.

Then it shot forward.

BOOOOOOM!!

The azure spear collided head-on with the Bone Dragon's descending claws. An explosion unlike any before erupted. The shockwave spread across the sky, tearing apart everything in its path.

The Bone Dragon's advance stopped completely. Its massive body was forced backward several kilometers. Several crystal-like bones along one foreleg cracked under the impact.

The old man's expression remained calm. He rotated his wrist gently. The shattered water spear exploded into countless ribbons. Each ribbon wrapped around one of the Bone Dragon's limbs like living serpents.

The dragon roared. Golden runes across its skeleton ignited.

CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!

One ribbon after another exploded apart.

The old man's eyebrows rose slightly.

"What astonishing physical strength…"

Against ordinary opponents, this single technique would have imprisoned them before they even realized what had happened. Yet this dragon simply tore through it using nothing but brute force.

The Bone Dragon spread its mountain-sized wings. The cracked bones repaired themselves almost immediately. Without hesitation, it charged again.

The old man's eyes narrowed.

"So even that level of damage recovers almost instantly…"

No wonder the blood-robed woman had been reduced to such a miserable state. Fighting one of these monsters was already exhausting. Facing two simultaneously, even for a Demigod, was a nightmare.

However, something had to be done.

The old man's eyes shifted away from the Bone Dragon for only a fraction of a second. Below, the Undead High Drake had already arrived above the blood-robed woman.

Its colossal body completely concealed her from view. From his current angle, he couldn't see what was happening beneath that enormous body.

But he didn't need to.

His expression changed.

"…Not good."

His eyelids twitched. He could feel it. A terrifying concentration of energy was gathering around the dragon's head.

"A dragon breath?"

At point blank range?

His expression grew solemn.

Below, the blood-robed woman stared blankly upward. The gigantic head of the Undead High Drake filled her entire field of vision.

Its emerald eyes stared coldly at her as its jaws slowly widened. Green flames gathered between rows of enormous teeth.

One emotion after another surfaced inside her heart.

Anger. Fear. Helplessness.

The anger came first. She was a Demigod. Someone who had stood at the peak of countless beings. Reduced to such a miserable state. And not by another Demigod, but by the undead servants of a mere Rank three nineteen-year-old youth.

Every wound covering her body. Every shattered bone. Every drop of blood she had lost. All of it had been inflicted by someone whose age multiplied by twenty still wouldn't reach hers.

Her pride screamed in protest.

Then there was fear. She could clearly sense death approaching. The energy gathering within the dragon's throat made every instinct she possessed sound alarms.

She had witnessed creatures use dragon breath many times throughout her life. But never had one prepared to fire while almost touching its target.

There was nowhere to dodge. Nowhere to retreat. She would take the full force of it.

Then came the helplessness. An overwhelming feeling that no matter what she did, nothing would change.

Her cultivation was nearly exhausted. Her body had already reached its limit. Even lifting a finger required tremendous effort.

She had struggled desperately until now. Yet every attempt had ended in failure.

Then, when she had sensed a familiar aura, hope had ignited inside her chest. She hadn't expected rescue. She wasn't that naive. But as long as another Demigod arrived, she would live.

Perhaps she would spend centuries imprisoned. Perhaps she would suffer humiliation beyond imagination. It didn't matter. She would still be alive, as long as they didn't turn her into a puppet.

She hadn't sacrificed everything, hadn't crawled over mountains of corpses, simply to die here.

Life. As long as she remained alive, there would always be another opportunity. That was her belief.

Unfortunately, reality was far crueler.

Even after sensing the familiar aura, nothing had changed. The old man had indeed arrived. Yet he was now occupied by the other dragon. She could even feel violent fluctuations erupting behind her. Meaning he couldn't reach her in time.

The dragon's jaws continued opening. The terrifying energy continued condensing.

Death drew closer with every passing heartbeat.
