Chapter 1162: Glorious
Chapter 1162: Glorious
It wasn't ordinary rain.
Every single droplet was condensed life energy, purified repeatedly through the countless layers of the magic circle before finally becoming gentle enough for ordinary bodies to withstand.
Unlike violent healing spells that forcefully stimulated the body, this rain quietly nourished everything it touched.
The first droplets landed.
A middle-aged man who had collapsed against a broken wall looked down in disbelief. The deep gash across his abdomen slowly stopped bleeding.
The torn flesh visibly knitted together. The unbearable burning pain that had plagued him gradually faded until only numbness remained.
Nearby, a little girl covered in cuts instinctively reached toward her scraped knees. Before her mother could stop her, the wounds disappeared before their eyes.
"…Mom?"
"They're… gone."
Her mother stared blankly before suddenly pulling the child tightly into her embrace, tears flowing uncontrollably.
Elsewhere, a middle-aged woman who had fractured her arm when part of her roof collapsed suddenly heard several soft cracks.
Crack… Crack…
Her bones shifted back into place. The swelling rapidly subsided. Within moments, she could move her fingers again. She flexed her hand several times in complete disbelief.
"It… healed?"
Not every injury disappeared completely. Severely crushed limbs remained damaged. Those missing body parts did not miraculously regrow. Yet every life-threatening wound rapidly stabilized.
Internal bleeding ceased. Damaged organs began recovering. Broken bones fused enough to prevent further deterioration.
Across the city, countless exhausted mages widened their eyes. Their nearly depleted mana reserves, drained from protecting civilians and maintaining defensive formations, slowly began recovering.
It wasn't enough to restore them completely. But it was enough to remove the terrible exhaustion weighing upon both body and soul. Many suddenly found themselves capable of casting spells once more.
However, it wasn't only the seriously injured that the rain touched.
An elderly woman trembling beneath a damaged awning suddenly froze. She slowly touched the side of her face.
For more than forty years, a long scar had stretched from her temple to her jaw after surviving a violent attack in her youth. It had never faded.
With Aurora's treatment technology she could have had surgery, but sometimes only the wealthy could afford to spend money purely on appearance.
Yet now, under the emerald rain, the scar gradually became lighter. The hardened tissue softened. Within several breaths, it disappeared completely.
"…"
Her wrinkled fingers continued tracing smooth skin. Tears quietly rolled down her cheeks.
Similar scenes unfolded everywhere.
Even old ailments began quietly improving.
A child who had suffered from chronic weakness since birth suddenly found breathing easier.
An elderly man whose eyesight had steadily worsened over the years blinked repeatedly before staring into the distance.
"I can…"
"I can see…"
Not perfectly. But far more clearly than before.
Across another district, a woman who had endured a persistent lung disease for years suddenly erupted into violent coughing.
Dark mucus mixed with traces of black impurities spilled onto the ground.
Several moments later, she inhaled deeply. For the first time in years, there was no pain, no tightness, no desperate struggle for air.
The emerald rain continued falling.
It wasn't omnipotent. It couldn't restore lost limbs, erase every illness, or reverse aging. And it certainly couldn't resurrect the dead. But to countless ordinary people, it was nothing short of miraculous.
Across the city, expressions of terror gradually transformed into stunned disbelief.
"My wound…"
"It… it doesn't hurt anymore."
"My daughter! She's breathing normally!"
"The bleeding stopped!"
"My scar… it's gone…"
"My back… I can stand straight again!"
"Look at Grandfather! He isn't coughing anymore!"
One voice became ten. Ten became hundreds. Soon the entire city was filled with astonished cries. Many instinctively looked toward the heavens.
The giant emerald formation slowly rotated overhead. Some fell to their knees. Others clasped their hands together. Many simply stood in silence, unable to process what they had just experienced.
High above, Michael quietly observed everything.
His expression remained calm. He knew this wasn't enough. Those who had died would never return. Collapsed homes remained collapsed. Families already torn apart could not be made whole again. There were wounds no healing magic could ever mend.
But at least the living had been given another chance.
As the final streams of mana left the High Drake, the enormous magic circle gradually dissolved into countless emerald particles that drifted across the heavens like glowing stars before fading into nothingness.
Almost at the same moment, Michael felt the immense power flowing through the High Drake begin rapidly receding. The overwhelming aura that had rivaled a true Demigod steadily diminished.
The Enhancer had finally reached its limit.
Without hesitating for even a second, Michael raised his hand.
"Return."
The enormous High Drake let out a low rumble before disappearing into the Mausoleum of Endless Dominion.
The moment it vanished, Michael immediately severed the connection maintained by Echoed Bestowal. An indescribable pressure disappeared from his soul.
"…"
Michael closed his eyes and released a long breath.
"…Finally."
The last twenty minutes had been nothing but constant tension. Maintaining two pseudo-Demigod undead. Fighting a Demigod. Facing another from the Federation. Returning to retrieve the corpse. Then healing an entire city.
Every single action had pushed both his mind and body to their limits.
Fortunately, it was over. At least for now.
Michael remained floating in the sky for several seconds before slowly opening his eyes. There was still one final matter.
With a thought, hundreds of soul connections lit up within his consciousness. Scattered throughout Brightgate and the surrounding region, his Rank Four undead immediately received his command.
One after another, like countless black streams, they rose into the sky before converging toward Michael. Within moments, a vast undead legion once again assembled around him.
Only after confirming every Rank Four undead had safely returned did Michael activate the Mausoleum once more. The enormous legion disappeared batch after batch into the endless darkness. The surrounding sky gradually emptied.
Then space rippled and Michael disappeared.
A moment later, he reappeared inside his residence. His eyes instinctively swept across the room.
"…Hm?"
