Chapter 1199: A Big Push After Three Months
Chapter 1199: A Big Push After Three Months
Compared to when the Rank Advancement Quest had first appeared, there were already several changes.
Some were pleasant. Others, not so much.
His gaze naturally fell toward the bottom.
[Time Limit: 4 Years, 9 Months.]
Michael's lips twitched.
"Three months already."
When the quest had originally appeared, he had been given five years. Now three months were gone.
It wasn't exactly surprising. Time had to pass. No matter how absurd his talent became or how quickly his strength increased, Michael couldn't exactly negotiate with the passage of time. Still, seeing the number decrease made the deadline feel slightly more real.
However, that wasn't what truly caught his attention.
Michael's eyes moved upward.
[Comprehend A Domain: 2.5% Progress]
Finally, the first requirement had moved.
Michael immediately understood why.
"Ice Wheel."
There was practically no other explanation. Until today, the progress on this requirement had remained stubbornly at zero despite everything Michael had tried.
And it wasn't because his comprehension was poor. Far from it. After undergoing so many evolutions, enhancements, transformations, and improvements to his soul, Michael's comprehension had already reached an almost unreasonable level. Among ordinary geniuses, he would already stand near the peak.
Even among the monstrous talents produced by powerful realms and ancient factions, Michael suspected there wouldn't be many who could surpass him. Perhaps only those freaks who appeared once in hundreds of thousands or even millions of years could clearly leave him behind.
Yet despite possessing comprehension at that level, this task had always remained at zero percent. The problem had never been him. The problem was the requirement itself.
"Comprehend a Domain."
Domains weren't something Rank Three beings were supposed to possess in the first place.
Even among Rank Four supernaturals, not everyone deliberately constructed their Domain immediately after advancement. For many, the process happened naturally. After entering Rank Four, their understanding of the Law would gradually deepen.
Eventually, the Law Seed would begin influencing the space around them. Then, after sufficient accumulation, comprehension, and interaction with their Law, the foundation of a Domain would naturally emerge.
In other words, the quest was asking Michael to comprehend something that many Rank Four beings only began touching after reaching Rank Four.
The Origin Will really expected too much from him.
Michael had tried several shortcuts before. His undead possessed Domains. Some had extremely powerful ones.
Michael had them release their Domains directly in front of him, entered, studied, observed the Law fluctuations, even let himself be suppressed to feel the effects from an enemy's perspective and still got nothing.
Not even 0.1%.
Michael had also attempted using his Law of Echoed Existence to copy the domains, but that had failed as well.
He could copy many abilities from his undead and could reproduce their techniques, even borrowing portions of their unique properties. But a Domain wasn't merely an ability.
It was the external manifestation of a supernatural's Law foundation, but even Michael's own Law Seed remained incomplete. Without first comprehending his Law Seed to completion, there was no complete foundation from which a Domain could emerge.
Cases like Beginning, who could form a partial foundation domain, were rare, and much of this was due to the unique properties of his Law, not its comprehension. It was also a domain he might be able to copy, but nothing was better than using this one.
Trying to directly copy someone else's Domain was essentially like attempting to copy the roof of a building when he hadn't finished constructing the walls beneath it.
The structure simply had nowhere to exist. But Michael could see a new path now, thanks to Ice Wheel, the ghost's Domain Law Technique.
Through Divine Incarnation Possession, Michael hadn't merely observed another person's Domain. For a short period of time, he had actually carried the foundation of a Demigod's Law World within himself. He had felt how the ghost's Law World interacted with reality.
He had experienced how an established Domain could amplify elemental authority, suppress space, reinforce techniques, and alter the surrounding environment according to the user's Law.
More importantly, for those few moments, Michael hadn't been standing inside someone else's Domain as an outsider. He had been the one controlling it. Even if the foundation had been borrowed, and even if Ice Wheel truly belonged to the ghost, the experience itself had been his.
Two and a half percent might seem small. But considering everything he had tried previously had produced absolutely nothing, this was enormous.
Michael's gaze instinctively shifted toward the ghost. She was currently hovering nearby, happily absorbing the remnants of evolutionary essence from the two crystals he had given her.
She was truly the most expressive undead he had seen outside Jester, Lucky, and Lily.
The ghost noticed his stare almost immediately. Her silver eyes turned toward him.
"What?"
Michael's expression gradually became strange.
"…You might be more useful than I thought."
The ghost blinked in confusion.
"More crystals?"
Michael's expression immediately flattened.
"That's not what I meant."
"Oh."
Her interest disappeared almost instantly.
Michael ignored her as several thoughts raced through his mind.
If one brief manifestation of Ice Wheel had given him 2.5% progress, then what would happen if he repeatedly used it and studied its structure properly?
He also had a certain incense that could boost his comprehension that he had yet to use. What would happen if he combined both?
At this point, Michael knew that for the next five years, he was going to spend more time in the Origin Battlefield for the sake of his advancement.
Michael's heartbeat accelerated.
Perhaps the requirement that had originally seemed the most impossible had just become the easiest one to brute-force.
But this was the only good news he had regarding his rank advancement task.
Thanks to a certain announcement, Michael's Influence had jumped from Multi-Realmic to Grand Sectoric. At this level, it only proved his name had reached the higher-ups of hundreds of realms.
