Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1205: More Evolution [2]

Chapter 1205: More Evolution [2]

Though none of the seven were evolving to Legendary grade like Lucky, Michael felt almost as much anticipation watching their individual transformations begin. Every one of them interested him for a different reason.

Ghost, for example.

Michael was particularly curious about how powerful it would become. Right from Rank One, it was already an abnormal existence.

Even among Michael's undead, where abnormalities had practically become normal, Ghost stood out. After all, its actual physical strength was even greater than Beginning's, who was a giant.

Now Michael was evolving it again. Though he could be almost sure it wouldn't become a Demigod from this evolution, strength didn't always correspond perfectly with Rank.

Michael genuinely wondered whether Ghost, after evolving, would possess enough combat power to contend with an early Rank Five existence that wasn't specialized in strength.

And even if it couldn't, in the Origin Battlefield he'd have another strong general in his legion.

Aside from Ghost, there was also Prince.

Michael felt a different kind of anticipation toward Prince. If there was one undead he regarded similarly to Lucky, it was Prince. Both had been with him from the very beginning.

Back when Michael's understanding of Infinite Evolution had still been shallow, he had revived three Forest Wolves. Three ordinary Common-grade creatures. Unfortunately, only two remained today.

Lucky and Prince.

The third Forest Wolf had long since disappeared from his legion, lost in the battle in Hell.

After these two, there was Lily.

Lily's evolution interested Michael for another reason entirely. Her race and grade. Michael wanted to know what came after Giant.

Alongside Beginning, the two of them had remained as Three-Star Extraordinary grade giants for a considerable amount of time, but an evolution of this level could produce a meaningful racial transformation.

Predicting the exact result of Infinite Evolution was nearly impossible. He could influence an evolutionary direction to an extent, but the final result depended upon the undead itself, its accumulated foundation, abilities, experiences, affinities, and whatever principles Infinite Evolution used when determining the most suitable path.

That unpredictability was part of what made every major evolution interesting.

Among Michael's truly notable Rank Four undead, only these remained Extraordinary grade.

Because of this, Michael had a suspicion that though Lucky had proven that Three-Star Epic wasn't automatically enough to enter Rank Five, that didn't necessarily mean no undead could do it.

If Michael had to choose undead capable of breaking that boundary while still within Epic grade, Beginning and Lily were among his strongest candidates. Especially Beginning.

Perhaps One-Star Epic wouldn't be enough. In fact, Michael doubted it would be. But Three-Star Epic? There was hope.

The Demigod ghost he had brought from the Netherworld was great proof of that possibility.

Michael wanted to observe Lily first, as her evolution would provide another reference point.

However, while Ghost, Prince, and Lily each gave Michael something to anticipate, what he looked forward to most was what evolution would do to Spartan.

Spartan was special for a reason that had very little to do with the undead himself. He was Michael's experiment. More specifically, an experiment for Michael's own future evolution.

During Spartan's previous evolution, Michael had deliberately used a few fire-related Law Seeds as fuel. After all, undead like Spartan and the Undead High Drake were different from the others, as they didn't have grades.

Evolution would not do anything to their rank, but if he added related Law Seeds to the mix, a change would occur.

Thanks to those seeds, Spartan had successfully crossed into Rank Four. More importantly, he had done so while evolving into a True Human.

That placed Spartan's current race at the exact same level as Michael's. Michael was also a True Human. And unlike Spartan, Michael had remained one for quite some time.

It wasn't because Infinite Evolution had reached its limit with him. Michael knew he could evolve again. The option existed. He simply hadn't dared to press it yet, as there were too many unknowns.

The first was secrecy.

The Mausoleum of Endless Dominion was unquestionably one of his greatest secrets, and perhaps in the future it would become impossible to hide. But even the Mausoleum couldn't compare to Infinite Evolution. Anything directly connected to his talent was a life-and-death secret.

Michael could reveal powerful treasures. He could reveal absurd undead, and he could reveal abilities that made other people question where he had obtained them, but Infinite Evolution itself was different.

Before doing anything that might expose even a fraction of its true nature, Michael needed to consider the consequences carefully.

Until today, practically nothing directly related to his talent had been exposed to outsiders. The Evolution Essence Crystal was the only real exception. Other people had seen it before. Even then, they didn't understand what it truly represented.

Lily was the only outsider who knew its actual function, and even she didn't understand its true value or how fundamentally important it was.

Michael had no idea what phenomenon his next racial evolution would produce. Michael's previous evolution to True Human had also been anything but subtle. If he evolved somewhere outside the Mausoleum, or if it couldn't manage his evolution and produced an enormous phenomenon, hiding it afterward might be impossible.

Then there was another problem.

Time.

Michael's last racial evolution had rendered him unconscious for three entire days. And that had been his previous evolution. The next one would almost certainly be more extreme.

Ten days? A month? Several months?

Michael had absolutely no idea.

The past three months had admittedly been the most peaceful period of his life in quite some time, at least before the Origin Battlefield revealed itself. There had been no desperate war requiring his constant presence, as even the unrest in his empire in the Land of Origin had been forcefully suppressed.

But peaceful didn't mean Michael could simply close his eyes whenever he wanted and disappear from the world for an unknown amount of time. Especially now, when his Rank Advancement Quest had a five-year deadline.
