Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1216: Kidnapped

Chapter 1216: Kidnapped

BOOM!

Several overlapping rings expanded across the ground, locking together as countless symbols illuminated simultaneously.

Michael immediately attempted to move, but nothing happened. His body hadn't been physically restrained, yet the surrounding space itself seemed to have solidified.

Michael's expression changed as he tried manipulating the void to escape, but nothing happened, yet again.

The Void was locked.

For the first time since emerging from the cave, Michael's relaxed expression disappeared.

Someone had found him.

However, before Michael could panic, a small head emerged from his chest.

The ghost looked down at the formation.

"Should I destroy it?"

Michael paused, and his rapidly rising tension immediately eased.

Right. I'm not alone.

If the ghost was asking whether she should destroy the formation, then whatever had trapped him clearly wasn't enough to trap her.

Michael looked down at the glowing runes. His first instinct was to tell her yes. Then he reconsidered.

"No."

Michael's eyes narrowed.

This might actually be useful.

He had returned specifically because he wanted information. Now that someone had gone through the trouble of finding him instead, why run? Michael wanted to know who was after him. More importantly, he wanted to know what had happened while he was gone.

"Leave it."

The ghost tilted her head in confusion. Though she could understand the dynamics of the magic circle, she could tell it was one that initiated a forceful teleportation.

Michael continued.

"But please pay attention. If whoever is behind this has something I genuinely can't handle, don't wait for me to tell you. Take over my body immediately."

The ghost's silver eyes brightened slightly.

"How many crystals?"

The ghost began raising one finger when the formation suddenly erupted with light.

"Wait, we haven't…"

Space twisted, and the two disappeared.

The sensation of forced teleportation disappeared almost as quickly as it came.

Michael's feet touched solid ground. His eyes immediately moved.

He had appeared inside what looked like a basement. The room was large but almost completely dark, illuminated only by several dim light bulbs and the fading light of the teleportation formation beneath his feet. There were no windows. Only a single door existed at the far end of the room.

More importantly, Michael wasn't alone.

Two figures stood several metres away. Both were completely covered in black. Long robes concealed their bodies while masks covered their faces, leaving practically nothing that could be used to identify them.

One stood farther back. The other was kneeling directly in front of the formation Michael had appeared upon, one hand pressed against the ground.

Michael immediately understood that this person had probably been responsible for activating the teleportation formation.

Michael's perception spread outward instinctively, but it barely travelled several metres before stopping.

Locked again?

Thanks to another locking mechanism, Michael couldn't sense what was beyond the walls or determine how deep underground he currently was.

They seemed pretty prepared.

That was the first thought that came to him.

The kneeling figure slowly raised his head while the standing figure suddenly laughed.

"Hahaha!"

The sound echoed throughout the basement.

"Finally."

The kneeling figure stood.

"Do you know how troublesome you've been?"

Michael remained silent.

Fortunately, they were speaking the Universal Language. Michael understood every word perfectly.

The second figure cursed.

"You disappeared to who knows where. Divination failed. Tracking methods failed. Even the marks prepared for you couldn't locate anything."

Michael's expression remained unchanged, but his thoughts moved rapidly.

Marks? How did they work, and why could they forcefully teleport him? The only other time this had happened to him was on his first day in the Origin Battlefield, and that had been due to a powerful Epic-grade treasure.

"It was as if you'd completely vanished from this realm."

The man sounded increasingly irritated just remembering it.

The other figure chuckled.

"Fortunately, for some unknown reason, you came back, saving us from suffering a loss on this mission."

His gaze travelled over Michael from head to toe.

"As expected. You truly are just a brat still wet behind the ears."

The excitement in his voice became increasingly difficult to hide.

The kneeling figure laughed.

"Without that army of undead surrounding you, what exactly are you?"

Michael's eyebrow moved slightly, but he didn't say anything.

That seemed to make the two even more confident.

After all, according to their information, though this youth was strangely powerful for his rank, the greatest problem with Michael had never been Michael himself, but his undead.

Though the two of them were famous throughout the universe after countless assassination missions across hundreds of years, with not many failures, they were still only at the peak of Rank Four, with no path to the Rank above them anywhere close.

Attacking someone with a Demigod undead carried a huge amount of risk. Which was precisely why this basement had been prepared.

One of the figures spread his arms slightly.

"You've noticed already, haven't you?"

"The isolation."

The man's voice carried obvious amusement.

"Go ahead. Try and summon an undead. Even one."

He gestured toward the formation beneath Michael's feet.

"You won't be bringing anything into this place."

Michael remained motionless. Before they had even spoken, he had already tried summoning his female Demigod but couldn't. He could tell that if he forced his way, he'd be able to do it in a few seconds, which also showed how strong the method these two used was. But would they wait and allow him to do as he wished?

This was why he stopped.

In any case, he wasn't scared. First was mainly due to the ghost hidden in him, and the other was because he could still use his Law. If he copied Wisdom's Law, he'd be able to free himself from the lock and deal with these two, who he sensed and knew weren't at Demigod rank.

However, before that, he wanted to know a few things.

Michael's gaze moved between the two masked figures.

"How did you do it?"
