Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1215: Back

Chapter 1215: Back

Grabbing said ghost wasn't hard. He just had to hand over another Evolution Essence Crystal.

Though this pained him very much, he didn't feel it was a waste. But spending more than one hundred thousand Evolution Points in only a few hours was indeed painful, though. There was truly nothing better than having your own undead Demigod, but unfortunately, or fortunately, the ghost Demigod was special.

After all, with its possession skill, Michael himself could temporarily push himself to the Demigod level, increasing his own survivability.

After having the ghost hide inside him and reassuring Isabella again, he opened one portal connecting to one of the many hidden ones in Aurora and entered without hesitation.

The transition lasted only an instant before Michael found himself standing inside an enclosed cave.

Darkness surrounded him, but it meant little to his senses. His perception spread outward immediately, examining every corner of the underground chamber before eventually returning to the portal behind him.

The portal was stable, and the formations he had previously arranged around it were still functioning perfectly. Several layers concealed the spatial fluctuations it produced, preventing its energy from leaking outside the cave, while another formation continuously supplied enough energy to maintain the portal.

The portal was one of his most important escape routes. As long as it stayed hidden and operational, Michael could enter or leave the Mausoleum through this location without attracting unnecessary attention.

Michael didn't immediately leave.

His perception penetrated the surrounding stone, spreading several kilometres outward as he searched for any unfamiliar presence.

Only after finding nothing did Michael move.

Rather than heading toward the cave's concealed entrance, Michael stepped forward and sank directly into the ground. His body passed through the stone as though it didn't exist.

A few moments later, Michael's head emerged from the ground and stopped. His eyes swept across his surroundings before the rest of his body followed.

Michael had barely finished emerging from the ground when something separated from his body.

The ghost floated out from his chest.

However, unlike her usual appearance, she was considerably smaller, a deliberate choice on her part.

Michael looked at her strangely. Usually, the ghost's humanoid form was roughly the size of an adult woman. Now she was barely larger than his palm, floating beside his shoulder like some strange spirit.

The ghost didn't pay attention to his stare. Her silver eyes were already moving everywhere as she observed the sky above them. The distant mountains. Even the ground received several seconds of scrutiny.

There was obvious curiosity in her expression.

"Is this one of the outside worlds you promised to show me?"

Michael opened his mouth.

"Ye…"

"There's barely any mana."

Michael's mouth closed.

The ghost looked increasingly dissatisfied as her spiritual perception spread outward.

"The mana here is pathetic."

Michael gave her a look.

"Obviously. It's not the Netherworld."

The Netherworld was a higher realm filled with enormous amounts of death energy and mana. Comparing Aurora's environment to it was hardly fair. It wasn't to say it was little, but compared to the Netherworld or the deeper layers of Hell, it was indeed pitiful.

The ghost ignored his reasoning. She floated several metres away from him before suddenly stopping.

"It's also uncomfortable."

Michael's eyebrow twitched.

"It's not the Netherworld."

The ghost turned toward him.

"I know."

"Then why are you complaining?"

"Because it's uncomfortable."

"…"

Michael decided there was no point arguing.

Unfortunately, the ghost wasn't finished. Her expression gradually became strange. She raised one translucent hand and stared at it before looking around again.

"This world is resisting me."

This caught Michael's attention as he turned to look worriedly at her.

Michael observed her more carefully. Now that she mentioned it, he could sense her aura seemed a bit restrained. It wasn't particularly powerful. At least, it wasn't enough to seriously affect a Demigod of her strength. But it was definitely there.

"It seems the realm is suppressing you slightly as an outsider."

The ghost frowned.

That was the simplest explanation. Aurora possessed its own rules, and Michael already knew that outsiders at a certain level entering the world could experience suppression.

Still, Michael was somewhat surprised. He had always assumed this phenomenon primarily targeted intelligent foreign races entering a realm. Apparently, that assumption had been wrong.

Or perhaps it simply stopped mattering once an existence reached a certain level. At Rank Five, the influence a being possessed over the surrounding world was already fundamentally different from lower Ranks. A foreign Demigod entering Aurora might naturally attract the world's attention regardless of what race they belonged to or if they were monsters.

It seemed that at a certain level of strength, a realm no longer discriminated. Outsider was outsider.

The ghost continued examining her tiny hand.

"I don't like it."

Michael sighed and comforted her for a few minutes.

The ghost looked toward the distant horizon again. Although she continued complaining, the curiosity in her silver eyes hadn't diminished in the slightest.

It didn't take long for her to return to Michael's body.

With the ghost gone, Michael finally turned his attention toward why he had returned to Aurora in the first place.

He needed information. But the question was how to get it without exposing himself.

Michael stood silently for a while, considering his options.

He could capture someone from the Federation and simply extract whatever information he needed. Mind control was also an option. Finding an agent with sufficient clearance, controlling them, and having them hand over the credentials to their Supernatural Association account shouldn't be particularly difficult.

There should be plenty of useful information there. Michael was curious about everything that had happened after his disappearance. There would definitely be some interesting information there.

Michael had his own Association account, but using it right now would be stupid. His device wasn't even on him at the moment. If the Federation was monitoring him, which he was sure they were, logging into his account would practically be equivalent to announcing that he was back in Aurora.

Michael was still considering what he should do when his expression suddenly changed.

"Hm?"

Bright light appeared beneath his feet, along with a magic circle.
