Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1224: Restriction and Poverty [1]

Chapter 1224: Restriction and Poverty [1]

There wasn't much left for him to do.

Michael sat back down near the edge of the cliff and waited.

The enormous auroras continued flowing through the starless sky above him. Green, purple, and blue light slowly shifted across the heavens while the countdown steadily approached zero.

[00:01:00]

Michael rose. His expression became serious.

[00:00:10]

[00:00:09]

[00:00:08]

Michael checked everything one final time. His preparations were complete.

[00:00:03]

[00:00:02]

[00:00:01]

[Origin Battlefield is now accessible.]

The moment the notification appeared, countless points of light emerged around Michael's body. They rapidly multiplied, covering him from head to toe.

Michael glanced down as his fingers began dissolving into tiny particles. The effect quickly spread across his arms, chest, and eventually his entire body.

A second later, Michael completely disappeared from the mountain cliff in a shower of light.

However, Michael did not immediately find himself inside the Origin Battlefield.

19:53

The sensation of teleportation disappeared, and when his vision returned, Michael found himself standing inside an enormous white room.

There were no doors, windows, decorations, or even visible corners. White extended in every direction, making it difficult to judge the actual size of the place.

Michael immediately became alert. His perception spread outward, but before he could properly investigate his surroundings, something floating several metres ahead caught his attention.

Michael blinked.

"Lunara?"

The ghost was no longer inside his body.

Her miniature figure floated within a translucent blue bubble roughly a metre across. She seemed completely unharmed, but the bubble prevented her from moving beyond its boundaries.

Lunara pressed one hand against its surface before looking toward Michael. Her expression wasn't particularly concerned. If anything, she seemed mildly curious.

Michael was about to approach when a translucent panel appeared directly before him.

[Origin Battlefield Entry Inspection]

[Warning!]

[A higher-ranked lifeform has been detected accompanying the Awakener.] [Current Destination: Fourth Layer]

[The detected lifeform exceeds the maximum level of power permitted within the Fourth Layer.] [Entry in its current state is prohibited.]

Michael's eyes narrowed slightly.

So it had actually worked.

He had always wondered what would happen if he had a Rank Five undead. Would he be forced into a higher layer, or would something else happen?

It seemed it was the latter that had just happened. Whether this would be different for the Fourth Layer specifically was something Michael did not know. What he guessed, however, was that his previous case might have been caused by his own personal power rather than his undead when it came to the decision.

Perhaps if he himself hadn't been so ridiculous, and only his undead were above him in every form, he would still have remained in the Third Layer. The theory also explained why an Angel who was at Rank Three had been in the Fourth Layer as well but couldn't match him.

As several thoughts flashed past Michael's head, more lines appeared.

[Detected Lifeform: Special Spiritual Undead]

[Rank: Rank 5]

[The accompanying lifeform may enter the Fourth Layer under Forced Suppression.] [Forced Suppression will restrict the lifeform's accessible strength to the maximum level permitted within the Fourth Layer.] [Suppression Fee: 50,000 Origin Points per hour.]

[Alternative Entry Permit: 1,000,000 Origin Points.]

[Duration: 24 Hours.]

[During the permit period, Forced Suppression will remain continuously active.] Michael's expression immediately became strange.

One million Origin Points.

This wasn't cheap in any form. This was the first time Michael had seen Origin Points used again, outside of when he was operating his Universal Cornerstone.

At that time, he had to sell a Rare-grade herb for a measly 239 Origin Points. To reach one million, he'd need to sell a bit above four thousand Rare-grade herbs to afford using a suppressed Demigod in the Origin Battlefield for a day.

Even the cheaper option, 50,000 points per hour, wasn't cheap either, since it was about how much he'd need to buy just the basic knowledge of the Elven race's language.

Michael didn't think it was worth it for him. Yes, Lunara was powerful, but suppressed a rank below, Michael didn't think she'd necessarily be better than some of his undead.

Michael continued reading.

[If the Awakener does not wish to purchase Forced Suppression, the accompanying lifeform will remain temporarily detained within the Entry Inspection Space.] [The accompanying lifeform will not be harmed.]

[The Awakener may retrieve the accompanying lifeform upon leaving the Origin Battlefield.] [Please Select:]

[Hourly Suppression: 50,000 Origin Points/Hour]

[24-Hour Permit: 1,000,000 Origin Points]

[Temporary Detainment: Free]

[Origin points balance: Two hundred and thirty nine points]

Michael stared at the three choices.

His gaze slowly moved from the panel toward Lunara. The ghost was still floating comfortably inside the blue bubble, apparently completely unconcerned about being detained by the Origin Battlefield.

Michael, however, became thoughtful.

This is interesting.

The fact that Lunara could enter at all meant the Origin Battlefield wasn't limited strictly to Awakeners and their contracted creatures. As long as they had a means like his, they could do the same.

There was something even more important about the appearance of Origin Points here.

As far as Michael knew, no other Awakener in the universe should even be aware that Origin Points existed. Michael himself had only discovered them because of the Universal Cornerstone. More importantly, the Universal Cornerstone remained the only method he knew of obtaining Origin Points. By selling resources to it, practically anything with sufficient value could be converted into Origin Points.

Michael's expression gradually became serious.

The Origin Battlefield recognizing the same currency couldn't possibly be a coincidence. If anything, it indirectly confirmed that the Universal Cornerstone possessed some deeper relationship with the Origin Battlefield.

Michael had already known the cornerstone was ridiculously valuable. But perhaps he had still underestimated its importance.

Michael glanced toward his miserable balance.

[Origin Points Balance: 239]

He had barely explored the functions of the Universal Cornerstone before everything started happening.

Such a possibility made Michael think about something else.

His gaze returned to Lunara.
