Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1225: Restriction and Poverty [2]

Chapter 1225: Restriction and Poverty [2]

If he could bring a Rank Five existence into the Fourth Layer by paying Origin Points, then others should be capable of doing the same.

That wasn't particularly comforting, since he knew that while it might not be easy for others to claim a cornerstone like his, they would eventually do so.

Michael's expression became thoughtful.

Fortunately, there was no reason to worry about that possibility yet.

He looked around the enormous white space again. There was no exchange platform or option to convert ordinary resources into Origin Points. The only choices presented to him concerned Lunara's entry.

If another Awakener somehow arrived here with a higher-ranked companion but possessed no Origin Points, they would probably be forced to leave that companion behind. And if Michael's current understanding was correct, the Universal Cornerstone remained the only known method available to him for obtaining Origin Points.

Michael's eyes narrowed slightly.

That made possessing the cornerstone even more significant. It potentially gave him access to an entire currency system that the Origin Battlefield itself recognized. Perhaps, in a few years from now, this would be the supreme currency across the whole universe.

Michael stored that information away mentally. There was far too much he still didn't understand.

For now, however, his situation was embarrassingly simple.

Michael looked at his balance again.

[239 Origin Points]

Then at the cheapest option.

[Hourly Suppression: 50,000 Origin Points/Hour]

"…"

Even if Michael wanted Lunara accompanying him, he couldn't afford to keep her inside the Fourth Layer for even a minute.

His gaze moved toward the final option.

[Temporary Detainment: Free]

Michael's expression relaxed.

At least poverty had made the decision easy.

Michael looked toward Lunara again. She floated lazily inside the blue bubble, occasionally pressing against its surface as though testing what exactly was keeping her contained.

Michael walked closer.

"I need to go somewhere else for a while."

Lunara looked at him.

"I'll be back soon. You can stay here until then."

Michael had half expected some complaint, especially considering he had been the one to bring her along in the first place. Surprisingly, none came.

Lunara simply nodded. Perhaps from her perspective, waiting here for a while wasn't particularly different from spending years inside that tree.

Michael smiled. He turned his attention toward the panel.

[Please Select:]

[Hourly Suppression: 50,000 Origin Points/Hour]

[24-Hour Permit: 1,000,000 Origin Points]

[Temporary Detainment: Free]

Michael selected the final option without hesitation.

[Temporary Detainment Selected.]

[Accompanying Lifeform will remain within the Entry Inspection Space.]

[The lifeform may be retrieved when the Awakener leaves the Origin Battlefield.] [Proceeding with entry…]

Michael gave Lunara one final glance.

"See you soon."

Light immediately surrounded him. The endless white room disappeared.

For a brief moment, Michael felt the familiar sensation of being pulled through space before his feet touched solid ground.

This time, he had truly arrived.

Michael's senses immediately expanded. The sky above him was bright with no sun anywhere in sight. Thick white clouds drifted lazily across an enormous pale-blue sky.

Michael breathed in. The familiar atmosphere of the Origin Battlefield immediately entered his senses.

He was back.

Another familiar sight stood directly ahead of him.

The Universal Cornerstone.

The enormous structure remained exactly where he remembered it, its surface carrying countless patterns that seemed impossible to understand no matter how long he stared at them.

Michael's eyes lingered on it for several seconds.

However, before Michael could approach it, he sensed someone beside him.

He turned.

Another Michael stood there.

The two stared at each other. This was his other body, the one connected to the Origin Battlefield and Land of Origin.

Neither needed to say anything. Michael simply nodded. The other Michael returned the gesture.

With a thought, spatial power surrounded his second body before it disappeared directly into the Mausoleum.

His job here was done. It needed to go back to the Land of Origin to test out something for him. There was also Arianne. It had been many days since he last saw her. He knew she'd be very mad at him. Thinking of how he'd have to calm her down made the two Michaels feel a slight headache.

Michael's attention turned back to his territory.

After a moment of thought, he rose into the air. His body rapidly climbed higher until the Universal Cornerstone beneath him became little more than a structure at the center of an enormous expanse of land.

Only then did Michael properly examine everything his other body had accomplished during his absence.

"Not bad."

The changes were immediately obvious.

The Level Three region he had claimed, or more accurately, the territory recognized as his Level One Domain, was enormous. Previously, most of it had simply been wilderness. That was still largely the case. Forests, hills, rivers, plains, and stretches of undeveloped land filled almost everything Michael could see.

However, three enormous circular walls now divided the territory.

The first stood near the outer boundaries of his domain. The second was considerably farther inward. The final wall surrounded the central region containing the Universal Cornerstone and the awakening temple.

From Michael's current altitude, the three walls resembled gigantic rings carved into the landscape. Their scale became even more impressive when he descended slightly.

Each wall rose hundreds of metres into the air. They were equally ridiculous in thickness, possessing enough space at the top for large groups of people to move across without difficulty.

Michael didn't need to investigate how they had been constructed. His other body was still him. The memories were there. Thousands of undead had participated in their construction, particularly those possessing abilities useful for manipulating earth, stone, metal, and other materials.

The result was far beyond an ordinary wall.

Michael approached the middle ring and placed a hand against its surface. His perception immediately spread through it.

Countless formations were hidden inside. For this, he had to thank Jester, who the other body had utilized in its free time. There were even numerous empty formation nodes deliberately left behind so additional arrays could be incorporated later.

The walls themselves didn't possess an official grade. However, if Michael had to assign one based purely on their durability and the formations built into them, Extraordinary Grade would be the absolute minimum.
