Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1267: Difference Between Natural and Artificial Awakening [3]

Chapter 1267: Difference Between Natural and Artificial Awakening [3]

After greeting Arianne, the little lion cub lingered beside her for only a moment before its attention shifted back toward Michael.

Its ears twitched. Then it took a small step toward him. There was a hint of hesitation in its movements.

Arianne noticed the little lion’s actions.

"Liora?"

The crimson cub paused when its name was called, glanced back at her, then continued edging closer to Michael.

Michael raised an eyebrow. When Liora finally came within reach, he extended one hand toward it.

The cub sniffed his fingers before lightly pressing the side of its head against his palm.

The sensation was familiar.

It was not exactly the same as touching ordinary flesh. There was a faint coolness and an almost weightless resistance beneath his hand, something very similar to the feeling he experienced whenever Lunara’s spiritual body came into contact with his own.

Michael gently ran his hand over Liora’s head. The little lion relaxed in comfort.

Not far away, though the twins did not approach him, their silver eyes remained fixed on him.

Arianne stared at the scene with confusion.

"Why does it seem like Liora likes you?"

It wasn’t that she didn’t like what was going on, but when she had first brought the three spirits out, none of them had wanted to get close to him. Since they didn’t need to be out for her to use the evolution crystals, this was only the second time she was summoning them in front of Michael.

Michael did not say anything in response to Arianne’s confusion.

He, however, had a certain suspicion.

Though the three spirits had no soul contract with him, all three had undergone evolution through Evolution Essence Crystals created by Infinite Evolution. Perhaps that had left something behind.

Perhaps not merely as deep as a soul connection, but maybe some faint affinity had been formed between them, due to him being the source responsible for their transformation.

These three were Arianne’s spirits. Liora, the small crimson lion. The black-haired boy, Cael. And his white-haired twin sister, Miki.

Michael’s gaze shifted between their current appearances, noting how far it differed from their initial appearance.

According to Arianne, the twins had been her starting spirits, the first companions she received on her path as a Spirit Tamer.

Liora was different. Arianne had obtained the little lion much later in the trial.

Thanks to her performance in the trial, Arianne had been able to bring them out as Rare Grade spirit beings.

All of a sudden, Arianne exclaimed in surprise.

"So powerful."

After checking the three spirits properly, she quickly summarized what had changed in their panels.

If Michael could see Arianne’s panel, it would look something like this:

[Name: Cael]

[Race: Yangborn Spirit]

[Grade: Epic ★★★]

[Level: 10]

[Skills:]

[Spirit Possession]

[Extreme Yang Body Reinforcement]

[...]

For one, Cael’s race had changed. That much did not surprise Michael.

Race changes were something Infinite Evolution had caused many times before. What truly caught his attention was one of Cael’s skills.

According to Arianne, Humanoid Spirits were generally regarded as some of the weakest spirits in the Spirit Realm.

Most of that reputation came from Human Spirits, but fortunately, the twins had been different.

Their usefulness came from two core skills. Spirit Possession, which was a staple for all spirit beings, and an enhancement ability.

Michael quickly compared Spirit Possession to Lunara inhabiting his body, based on Arianne’s description of the skill.

The principle was similar. A spirit could merge with the tamer’s body and lend its abilities directly.

The tamer could remain in control and simply use the spirit’s power, or allow the spirit to take over more directly.

Spirit Tamers had different styles of combat. Some relied on spirit possession as their main combat style. Others treated their spirits as independent fighters.

Of course, one could switch between both depending on the situation.

Cael’s enhancement was physical in nature. Back when Cael had still been Common Grade, the enhancement skill could increase Arianne’s physical attributes by twenty-five percent for a limited period.

The cost was that it consumed mana rapidly. Arianne could not maintain it for long.

Even so, that boost had been one of the main reasons she survived the early stages of the trial.

Later, after Cael reached Rare Grade, the enhancement increased to fifty percent.

For Arianne, this skill had allowed her to do a lot early in her trial.

But now the old enhancement skill was gone. In its place was something else.

[Extreme Yang Body Reinforcement]

[Effect: Upon Possession, ninety percent of the user’s available mana will be converted into Yang Essence and used to reinforce the physical body.]

[While active, physical attributes will be significantly increased.]

[Endurance, recovery speed, resistance to physical damage, vitality, and bodily resilience will be greatly enhanced.]

[The greater the amount of mana converted, the stronger the reinforcement.]

[Can only be used when the user’s mana pool is at least 80 percent.]

This was completely different from the old version. Before, Cael had simply provided a flat percentage increase to her physical attributes while consuming mana.

Now the skill practically transformed mana itself into physical strength, providing an extreme enhancement the previous skill couldn’t have matched.

However, Cael was not the only one who had changed. Miki’s panel was almost a mirror image of her brother’s.

[Name: Miki]

[Race: Yinborn Spirit]

[Grade: Epic ★★★]

[Level: 10]

[Skills:]

[Spirit Possession]

[Extreme Yin Body Reinforcement]

[...]

Miki’s special skill was also an enhancement type like her brother’s, but unlike him, hers targeted the user’s mana. When her grade was ordinary, she could increase the mana pool by twenty-five percent, and at Rare Grade, she could do the same at fifty percent while also boosting recovery speed.

However, just like her brother, Miki’s special skill had also mutated.

[Extreme Yin Mana Reinforcement]

[Effect: Upon Possession, a large portion of the user’s physical vitality will be converted into Yin Essence used to greatly reinforce the user’s mana pool and magical output.]

[While active, mana capacity, mana recovery speed, spell power, energy control, perception, and resistance to mental interference will be significantly increased.]

[The greater the amount of physical vitality converted, the stronger the mana reinforcement.]
