Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1285: Entering The Zeroth Layer [3]

Chapter 1285: Entering The Zeroth Layer [3]

After saying the name of her class, Rina didn’t dare to look at the Emperor and focused on the ground, wishing she could sink into it.

Though she didn’t know what this class signified, she felt being a maid wasn’t really good. She dared not have any designs on the Emperor, but calling herself a maid made her unhappy.

Of course, if the Emperor were to take her as his personal maid, she wouldn’t mind.

Michael, still unaware of the thoughts in Rina’s mind, looked at her with more focus.

A special class? he thought in surprise.

This was the first one Michael had encountered in the past three days.

He already knew Common Classes made up the overwhelming majority of awakenings, but it was only after personally documenting so many cases that he realized just how extreme the ratio truly was.

Out of more than one hundred and eighty confirmed Awakeners, well over a hundred had awakened Classes such as Knight, Warrior, Archer, or Hunter.

There were a few variations among them, but most still fell under the same broad categories.

Mage-related Classes were much rarer.

Even after three days, Michael had recorded fewer than twenty.

As for Special Classes?

He had none.

Seeing the numbers laid out in front of him made Michael realize just how fortunate he had actually been that his first Class had been Necromancer.

Michael’s expression softened slightly, and a smile appeared on his face.

Rina, who had finally gathered enough courage to look up again, froze for a second.

"Have you leveled up yet?" Michael asked Rina.

Rina shook her head.

"No, Your Majesty. But I’m close."

Michael’s brows rose slightly.

"Have you killed anything in the past three days?"

Rina’s face changed at once upon hearing this. Her eyes widened.

"N-No!"

Rina straightened nervously.

"I haven’t killed anyone, Your Majesty."

Michael looked at her with an amused smile.

He had not specifically asked about people.

Still, judging by how panicked she suddenly looked, he decided not to comment on that part.

His tone remained casual.

"Then how did you gain Experience Points?"

Rina hesitated again.

This time, embarrassment replaced her fear.

She scratched lightly at her sleeve before answering.

"Rats."

Michael paused and gave her a weird look.

Rina gave an awkward smile.

"I noticed that when I killed one, my... Experience Points increased."

Rina continued, looking increasingly embarrassed the longer she spoke.

"There are a lot of rats in the poorer parts of the southern district, so I tried again."

She had apparently spent part of the last few days wandering through alleys and abandoned storage areas, deliberately hunting them.

By the time the guards found her, she had already killed enough that her Experience bar was close to full.

Michael stared at her for a moment before shaking his head with a wary smile.

Though her way of leveling was weird, it was well fitting for an Awakener.

Michael tapped the end of his pen lightly against the paper.

A Special Class naturally made him curious.

"What can your Class do? Do you have any skills or abilities you can use?"

Rina hesitated again.

This time, however, the embarrassment on her face was mixed with uncertainty.

"I only have one, Your Majesty."

"What’s it called?"

"Bond."

Rina swallowed before continuing.

"It has two options. Temporary and Permanent."

Michael’s brows rose, his interest deepening.

"Have you used it before?"

Rina quickly shook her head.

"No, Your Majesty."

"Why?"

Rina looked slightly uncomfortable.

"I don’t know what it does."

Michael didn’t find the reason bad, and nodded in appreciation. Sometimes it was better not to let the cat out of the bag, as ignorance could sometimes be beneficial.

However, since he was here now, Michael felt Rina didn’t need to be so cautious as before. He was curious about the ability of this Class. Maid, as a Class, was something he had never heard of before.

"Use the temporary version on me."

Rina froze in shock.

"On... Your Majesty?"

Was His Majesty volunteering to be a test rat for her? Rina couldn’t help but wonder.

Still, after a few seconds, Rina focused on him. She too was curious what this miracle that had happened to her could do. Since the Emperor was so strong, there was no way her ability should cause him harm.

Michael felt a faint fluctuation of energy brush across his body.

It was incredibly weak.

So weak that if he resisted even slightly, the ability would likely collapse at once.

Michael did nothing.

The strange energy settled for less than a second before disappearing.

Rina’s eyes widened.

She stared at something only she could see.

Michael noticed at once.

"What happened?"

"A new section appeared."

Michael leaned forward slightly.

"What section?"

Rina continued staring at her panel.

"It’s called Secondary Class."

Something shifted across Michael’s face.

Secondary Class? Isn’t this something only dual-Class Awakeners could have?

He had never heard or encountered a Class whose own ability could grant a secondary Class.

Michael’s gaze became far more serious.

"What does it say?"

Rina looked at the new section again and answered truthfully.

"My Secondary Class is... Death Servant."

Michael rubbed his chin lightly.

Death Servant.

For some reason, the name gave him an odd sense of familiarity.

Death.

Servant.

Michael’s thoughts moved for a moment before his eyes widened slightly.

Wait.

His own Class was Death’s Heir.

And hers was Death Servant.

The similarity was too obvious to ignore.

Michael’s gaze sharpened at once.

There had to be some kind of connection.

"Do you feel anything different?"

Rina checked herself carefully, then shook her head.

"No, Your Majesty."

Michael frowned slightly.

"Nothing at all?"

Rina hesitated before suddenly focusing on her panel again.

"Wait."

Something crossed her face.

"I got a new skill."

"What is it called?"

"Serve."

"Read the description."

Rina nodded and focused on the new skill.

Her voice became slower as she read through the unfamiliar information.
