Chapter 1290: Your Majesty?
Chapter 1290: Your Majesty?
The mana here is so dense!
This was the thought that ran through Ace, Lia, and Lyra’s minds the moment they appeared in the Fourth Layer of the Origin Battlefield.
Compared to Bok and Rina, who were still complete newcomers to the supernatural world, the other three noticed far more right away.
Ace’s affinity with mana, especially with the wind element, had always been naturally high thanks to his Wind Element Spirit Root, and after becoming Michael’s blood servant, that talent had been strengthened even further.
The moment he appeared on the platform, the difference in the environment struck him at once.
The mana here was not simply denser.
It felt cleaner.
More active.
Almost eager to be absorbed.
Even without deliberately cultivating, Ace could feel traces of energy brushing against his body and being drawn toward him.
Beside him, Lia reacted similarly.
Unlike Ace, his foundation came from the Knight cultivation method Michael had brought over from Aurora.
Later, after becoming Michael’s blood servant as well, his once mediocre talent improved, and he could be regarded as a genius when compared to other supernaturals.
Although his perception was not as naturally sharp as Ace’s, even he could tell that the environment around them was abnormal.
Since the other two had noticed the nature of the place right away, Lyra, the elf assassin, did as well.
Though she looked like a young woman barely in her early twenties, Lyra was far older than she appeared.
As an elf, age showed differently. And before entering Michael’s service, she had already lived a long life filled with blood, danger, and assassination.
"This place seems different from a normal hidden realm." However, Lyra could not tell exactly what made her feel this way.
Her gaze slowly moved away from the platform she was standing on, toward the massive walls stretching in the distance.
Temporary camps filled with mages could be seen nearby.
A voice suddenly interrupted their thoughts.
"You’re finally here."
Ace, Lia, Lyra, and every youth standing on the platform reacted at once.
Their postures straightened, hands moving toward their chests, and in near unison, they saluted.
"Your Majesty!"
The response was loud enough to carry across the nearby camp.
Several Rank Two mages glanced over "again," though this time with even more curiosity.
Lily, who was standing beside Michael, froze.
Her head slowly turned toward him.
Your Majesty?
She stared at him with shock.
She knew her cousin was impressive. But Your Majesty? When did that happen?
Lily’s eyes narrowed suspiciously.
Did he marry into royalty? Lily thought as her gaze slid toward Arianne.
Looking at her appearance, Arianne definitely had the appearance of some noble lady.
Lily’s suspicion deepened at once.
Could it really be that cousin had married into a family for the benefits?
Arianne noticed Lily staring and turned slightly.
"Is something wrong?"
Arianne touched her face with mild confusion.
"Is there something on my face?"
Lily quickly shook her head.
"No."
Her gaze returned to Michael at once.
By then, Michael had already raised a hand toward the group.
"Relax. Leave the platform first."
The youths quickly obeyed.
The group spread out slightly once they reached the open ground, though most still remained cautious.
For many of the native Awakeners, everything around them was completely unfamiliar.
Lily moved closer to Michael with excitement.
"Cousin."
Michael turned toward her.
Lily pointed toward the group that had just saluted him.
"Why are they calling you Your Majesty?"
Her eyes practically shone with curiosity.
"Did you become some kind of big shot in the Land of Origin?"
Michael shook his head in amusement and ignored her.
The reason Lily suspected the Land of Origin rather than Aurora was mostly because of the way the newcomers were dressed.
Their equipment was good, but the style was clearly "old-fashioned," with no sign of modern technology anywhere among them.
Aurora still had countries that retained kings, nobles, and aristocratic systems, but centuries of modernization had changed how those systems functioned.
Many royal families were closer to symbolic governments, constitutional authorities, or powerful political houses.
Even the ones that retained significant authority existed alongside modern society. Rather than use swords, they’d use guns.
These people looked nothing like the youths from Aurora. Well, maybe except for one youth with a sniper rifle, for some reason.
Aside from him, the others’ getup looked exactly as one would expect within a fantasy story.
Lily took another look at the group of youths and quietly sighed.
The more she saw people from the Land of Origin, the more curious she became about that place.
Technically, she could enter whenever she wanted.
Until an Awakener consciously chose to enter the Land of Origin for the first time, their second body would not manifest there.
That was why there was no immediate danger in waiting for days or weeks before choosing to enter the Land of Origin.
If the Origin Will created the second body the instant someone awakened, then even a moment of delay in a dangerous random environment could become dangerous.
Of course, there was also a theory that an Awakener’s second body was actually created the moment they awakened, but that the protection of the Origin Will kept it hidden and safe in whatever location it appeared.
As for which of the two theories was actually right, no one knew. But what remained unchanged was that the other body only manifested when the Awakener consciously made the decision to enter.
Lily could wait as long as she wanted without consequence. In actual practice, it was usually only impatient greenhorns who couldn’t even handle a gun properly, or those overly confident in their strength, who made the reckless decision to enter as soon as possible.
Lily really wanted to enter the Land of Origin, especially after the lost-but-not-found Timi had told her about it, but she had been told to wait by Michael.
The reason was the Origin Battlefield.
Before reaching Rank Two, an Awakener could only properly control two bodies at once.
For someone like Lily, who currently had to manage her real body while also entering the Origin Battlefield, adding another body in the Land of Origin would create unnecessary complications.
One mistake at the wrong time could become troublesome.
If Michael could guarantee that Lily’s second body would manifest somewhere within his empire, he would have been far less concerned and would have simply let her explore under protection. But he could not guarantee that.
The Land of Origin was enormous.
There was no certainty that her second body would appear anywhere near territory he controlled.
If Lily ended up appearing in some distant kingdom, hostile region, wilderness, or even somewhere beyond Michael’s current reach, then retrieving her could become annoyingly complicated.
So for now, waiting was safer.
Michael had already told her she would not need to wait much longer.
Once the current situation in the Origin Battlefield stabilized, she could finally choose to manifest her second body.
Seeing as Michael blatantly ignored her, Lily puffed her cheeks slightly. "Ignoring" him in turn, she turned to Arianne, who she figured she’d get some answers from.
Michael, meanwhile, had turned his attention back toward the newly arrived group and gestured for Bok, Rina, Ace, Lia, and Lyra to come to him.
The five hurried over at once.
Ace and Lia were the first to arrive, followed closely by Bok and Rina, while Lyra came last with her usual quiet steps.
The moment they reached Michael, all five stopped and saluted respectfully.
"Your Majesty."
Their voices were controlled, but Michael could still sense the different emotions beneath them.
Bok and Rina were the easiest to read.
Excitement mixed with nervousness.
Ace and Lia were similar, but the feeling ran deeper.
As for Lyra...
Michael’s eyes shifted toward her briefly.
For some reason, she felt fear.
Not overwhelming fear, but it was definitely there.
That puzzled Michael slightly.
Though confused, Michael stored the matter away for later, before smiling and turning toward Bok.
"How are you finding the new weapons?"
Bok’s whole demeanor shifted at once.
The nervousness disappeared.
He reached up and patted the long weapon resting against him.
"The... sniper rifle."
His pronunciation was still slightly awkward, as if the words did not quite belong in his mouth yet.
Then his face brightened.
"It is far better than a bow and arrow, Your Majesty. Truly. This must be one of the greatest divine weapons ever created."
Michael’s mouth twitched.
Bok continued before he could respond.
"And the pistul... pistol. That one is also incredible."
He gestured with growing enthusiasm.
"And the sub machine... submachine gun."
Bok clearly had to think before saying each unfamiliar name.
"The fire rate is terrifying. Even a powerful knight would have trouble if caught unprepared."
He started counting them off with his fingers.
"The shotgun is also excellent at close range. And the assalt..."
"Assault rifle," Michael corrected.
"Yes, that."
Bok nodded seriously.
"The assault rifle might be even better. It can fight at both medium and close distance. Whoever invented these weapons must have been a legendary blacksmith."
