Chapter 1313: Death Heir And Death Knight [2]
Timi’s eyes sank slightly. His heartbeat accelerated.
"When did he arrive?! How?!"
Timi hadn’t seen him approach.
One moment, the space before them had been empty.
The next, the child had simply been there.
The boy looked harmless enough.
He appeared no older than eight or nine, with extremely fair skin, messy white hair streaked with green, and a slender frame that almost seemed frail.
His silver eyes were currently focused on Lily.
Though he looked harmless, Timi felt an intense sense of danger from the child.
It was so overwhelming, but unfortunately, it wasn’t like he could cut off the bloodline he had integrated with.
He could only endure it while standing still, wondering just where the hell Lily had brought him to.
Wisdom, completely unaware of the impression he’d just made, remained focused on Lily.
Lily, on the other hand, reacted very differently.
She had been slightly startled by Wisdom’s sudden appearance, but that was about it.
There was no fear in her expression.
Instead, after recovering from the brief surprise, a smile appeared on her face as she bent down slightly and casually ruffled Wisdom’s messy white hair.
"Wisdom, how are you doing?! Also, should you be eating chicken without a bib? See how oily your hands and mouth are?!"
Wisdom didn’t resist Lily’s touch.
The small boy simply continued eating the piece of roasted chicken in his hands while allowing Lily to mess up his already somewhat messy hair.
Seeing this, Timi’s expression became slightly strange.
It seemed Lily had more guts than him.
Though in Lily’s defense, she had considerably more experience with this sort of thing.
Michael was one reason.
Jester was another.
Both possessed movement abilities that made ordinary walking increasingly optional, and Jester in particular seemed to regard using his legs for anything beyond a short distance as some primitive form of transportation beneath him.
Both had appeared beside Lily without warning more times than she cared to remember.
After being startled repeatedly, she’d eventually gotten used to people suddenly materializing around her.
More importantly, she knew Wisdom.
Lily’s hand continued moving through his soft white hair for another few seconds.
Wisdom appeared to enjoy the attention.
His silver eyes narrowed slightly as Lily’s fingers passed between the white and green strands, while his small mouth continued working on the chicken without pause.
Eventually, however, Wisdom remembered why he’d come down in the first place.
"Master said to bring both of you to him."
His voice was soft and childish, matching his current appearance almost perfectly.
Timi’s attention sharpened at the unfamiliar title.
Master?
After a bit of hesitation, he turned to look at Lily and asked, "Lily, is this master your brother?"
"Yes!" Lily turned to look at him and answered with a smile.
Hearing this, Timi took a deep breath and reevaluated Lily’s mysterious cousin again, while at the same time wondering if he lived to promote child labour.
Lily was understandable, somewhat, but this adorable child, no matter how powerful, shouldn’t be put into labour, right?
Lily, completely unaware of the strange direction Timi’s thoughts had taken, turned back toward Wisdom.
"Can you please take us to my cousin?"
Wisdom nodded.
The two barely had time to react when their vision changed.
Timi’s body immediately tensed.
His completely black eyes swept across his surroundings before he could consciously stop himself.
They were high up. Extremely high.
The camps he’d seen earlier now appeared far below them, while the massive territory stretched outward beneath an enormous open sky.
It took Timi less than a second to realize where Wisdom had brought them.
They were standing on top of one of the gigantic walls.
The realization wasn’t what held his attention, however, as someone was waiting in front of them upon arrival.
It was a very tall young man.
He appeared somewhere in his early twenties, barely, standing a short distance away. His black hair shifted slightly in the wind, while a pair of striking green eyes rested on Lily before moving toward Timi.
There was nothing particularly threatening about his posture.
There was no oppressive aura from him, yet Timi felt a sensation he had never felt in his life toward Michael.
What’s this?! Timi thought in fear as his body subconsciously threatened to slowly fall to his knees.
No matter how hard he tried to stop himself, it felt like an impossible and unavoidable action.
Still, Timi didn’t give up and immediately activated one of his Traits.
Traits might not be Talents, but that didn’t necessarily make them less valuable.
Depending on the Trait, its value could even surpass that of an ordinary Talent.
Just like Talents, Traits were also rare among supernaturals.
Of course, that restriction applied to other people.
Not Timi.
If Timi had been willing to accept everything his Talent offered him, he might have possessed close to a hundred Traits by now.
That was another terrifying aspect of Devour.
Creatures didn’t only provide him with stat points and other benefits after being devoured. Under the right circumstances, Timi could extract Traits from them as well.
The problem was that Timi wasn’t interested in stuffing himself with everything available.
Traits became part of him.
He naturally had to be selective about what he allowed to become part of his existence.
[Nimble Fingers] was a simple example.
It was a Trait he’d obtained after devouring several goblins.
The Trait improved the flexibility, coordination, and fine control of his fingers. Tasks requiring delicate hand movements became noticeably easier, whether that involved manipulating small objects, quickly tying something together, handling intricate mechanisms, or even using certain weapons.
It wasn’t powerful in any conventional sense, but it was genuinely useful, especially since the improvement applied permanently rather than functioning as some temporary Skill.
Unfortunately, goblins had offered other Traits as well.
One Timi had rejected without the slightest hesitation was something called [Prolific Seed].
The Trait increased reproductive vitality, fertility, and sexual stamina while slightly accelerating recovery after reproductive activity.
Timi had stared at its description for several seconds after it appeared. Then he’d discarded it immediately.
There were limits to what he was willing to integrate into his body for the sake of becoming stronger.
Besides, he was sixteen.
What the hell was he supposed to do with something like that?
Devour had presented stranger and occasionally more disturbing options as he’d consumed different creatures, which was precisely why Timi had gradually become extremely careful about the Traits he retained.
The one he activated now was very different.
[Stubborn Mind]
It had come from an orc.
Not one of the ordinary green-skinned brutes he’d encountered before, but an Orc Berserker he’d fought inside the Origin Battlefield.
[Stubborn Mind]
The Trait reinforced the user’s sense of self while increasing resistance toward fear, intimidation, mental interference, compulsions, and external influences attempting to affect the mind or body.
