Chapter 1329: Old Trade
Chapter 1329: Old Trade
Jester’s figure sped through the Origin Battlefield at an astonishing speed.
Along the way, he encountered several monsters and even passed through areas occupied by other Awakeners. However, he paid them little attention. His destination was already clear.
After traveling for some time, Jester finally began to slow down. Before long, he arrived at a particular location.
Standing before him was an enormous black pillar.
Around it stretched an expansive grassland, with lush green vegetation extending toward the distant horizon. A gentle breeze swept across the plains, causing the grass to sway.
Jester stood some distance away from the black pillar, quietly observing his surroundings. Then, as though confirming something, he sighed.
"Unfortunately, it seems my timing was a little off."
There was a trace of disappointment in his voice.
"The two of them have long since left."
Jester looked toward the black pillar again.
He had originally intended to find them here. If everything had gone according to his initial expectations, reaching his destination would have been considerably easier. Unfortunately, it seemed that he had arrived too late.
Considering the nature of his Law, Jester was well aware that even the smallest difference in timing could produce an entirely different outcome. Fortunately, he hadn’t placed all his hopes on a single possibility.
A moment later, the disappointment on his face disappeared, replaced by a familiar smile.
"Thankfully, I did a few more calculations beforehand to avoid being stranded."
Jester chuckled softly.
"Although it’ll be more troublesome now that I can’t use my Law, at least I know where I can find someone else. All I need to do is find them and have them create a pathway for me to enter."
He paused briefly, seemingly considering the distance he would need to travel, before turning to give the black pillar one last glance.
"Well then, I suppose I should get going."
A moment later, his figure disappeared from where he stood.
Meanwhile, in Aurora, Michael looked at the people trembling slightly with an exasperated expression on his face.
"Am I that scary?" he asked doubtfully.
Hearing his question, sweat broke out on the foreheads of everyone in front of him.
"Not at all, Mr. Michael!"
A middle-aged man hurriedly spoke, forcing a smile onto his face.
"We’re not scared of you. We were simply surprised to learn that you were here. After all, your presence was completely unexpected. In fact, we’re honored to have you visit us personally."
The man was named Adrian, and he was the branch manager of the Supernatural Association in Silvercrest City, one of the largest cities in Dawn State, within the country of Vessera.
Silvercrest City was no ordinary city. As one of the largest and most prosperous cities in Dawn State, it also held considerable importance within Aurora as a whole. Unlike many other regions that had only recently begun receiving more information about the supernatural world through the Federation, Silvercrest City had been deeply involved in supernatural affairs for a very long time.
The existence of supernatural beings had never been much of a secret among the city’s residents.
There were several noble families that had maintained their positions for more than a century, with some tracing their histories back even further. There were also multiple cultivation academies within Silvercrest.
With such influential figures residing in one location, it was inevitable that they would influence the people around them.
"I see." Michael nodded, trying to ignore the obvious lie Adrian had just spouted.
"Is there anything else you need, Mr. Michael?"
Adrian asked cautiously.
Although he maintained a respectful expression, he was cursing the young man in his heart.
Adrian couldn’t entirely be blamed for his reaction. After all, just a short while ago, he had been sitting comfortably in his office, attending to the usual affairs of the Supernatural Association, when an unfamiliar young man suddenly appeared before him.
Naturally, Adrian had been startled.
However, what truly angered him was what happened afterward. Rather than explaining how he had entered the building, the young man had politely asked to borrow Adrian’s account on the Supernatural Association’s official forum.
Adrian had almost wondered whether he had heard correctly.
As the branch manager of the Supernatural Association in Silvercrest City, his account possessed privileges that ordinary members could only dream of obtaining. It granted him access to restricted discussions, confidential announcements, and information that wasn’t available to the general public. Such an account wasn’t something that could simply be lent to a stranger, even if the stranger asked politely.
In fact, Adrian was so furious at the young man’s audacity that he nearly ordered the security personnel and several higher-ups who had arrived after sensing an unfamiliar mana signature in the building to arrest him immediately.
However, before they could act, the young man released his mana and suppressed them. Only afterward did he properly introduce himself.
Adrian had never expected that this infamous God would one day appear before him.
Michael felt rather helpless in the face of everyone’s cautious attitude. He had already tried speaking to them in a friendly manner, but it seemed that no matter what he said, they couldn’t bring themselves to relax. Even the slightest movement from him was enough to make some of the officials tense up.
Seeing this, Michael eventually gave up trying. There was no point forcing them to become comfortable around him.
Besides, a part of him understood their reaction, especially after going through some of the information available on Adrian’s forum account.
He hadn’t expected his reputation to have reached such an extent. Although Michael was aware that he had become quite famous, reading about himself from the perspective of other supernaturals was a rather strange experience. Some of the discussions were so exaggerated that he almost wondered whether they were talking about someone else.
Thanks to the appearance of the Origin Battlefield and its implications for the various realms, the previously calm forum had become a hub of rumors and gossip, with every major development becoming a topic of discussion. Currently, half of the trending topics concerned Michael or Director Arven, while the other half focused on how the Origin Battlefield would affect the outside world.
Originally, Michael hadn’t planned to borrow anyone’s account. He already possessed one of his own, after all.
However, when he finally decided to use it after such a long time, he discovered something. His account had been deleted.
The situation wasn’t surprising. Considering his current relationship with the Federation, it would have been stranger if they had continued allowing him unrestricted access to their information network.
Still, deleting his account entirely seemed a little excessive.
Couldn’t they have just restricted his access?
Unfortunately, since he needed information, Michael had to return to his old trade of borrowing. He headed to the nearest major city he could find, intending to approach the highest-ranking Federation official outside the military. After all, approaching the military directly would only be seen as a provocation by the Federation.
Although there had been a few complications, Michael was satisfied with what he had managed to find online. However, he still needed further reassurance.
"Any updates on the person I requested from the Federation?"
Adrian immediately responded.
"You don’t need to worry, Mr. Michael. According to the latest information we’ve received, he should be here soon."
