Chapter 1330: Old Brian
Chapter 1330: Old Brian
For the past few weeks, Brian had been in a terrible mood.
No, to be more accurate, he had been in a terrible mood ever since his daughter died several decades ago. For years, his only purpose had been to find and kill the person responsible for her death. He had endured the loneliness while continuing to serve the Federation loyally.
A little over a year ago, Brian finally achieved his revenge and recovered the last and most precious thing his daughter had left behind.
With his vengeance complete, an ambition he had abandoned decades ago gradually resurfaced.
He wanted to become a god.
It was a dream he had possessed long before marrying the love of his life and having their beautiful daughter, only to abandon it after their deaths. Now, however, he hoped to achieve it with his daughter by his side.
Brian understood how unrealistic that was. His daughter was dead, and becoming stronger wouldn’t simply change that fact.
However, he still possessed her Law Seed.
Perhaps somewhere in the vast universe, there existed a method capable of bringing her back. Even if that hope was futile, it gave him a reason to continue moving forward.
As for Aurora and the Federation, Brian had already begun distancing himself from them. The events of the past year had only strengthened his desire to leave.
Aurora continued to grow stronger with each passing year. More powerful supernaturals were emerging, the Federation’s influence was expanding, and opportunities for the younger generation continued to improve.
Yet internal struggles, conflicting interests, and personal ambitions remained persistent problems.
Brian had tolerated such things for decades, but he no longer possessed the patience to involve himself in them. Fortunately, he had already retired from his position in the Federation. Although he still maintained certain connections with the organization, he was no longer obligated to participate in its affairs.
Originally, Brian had intended to enter the void and explore the larger world beyond Aurora.
The recent discovery of the Origin Battlefield had caught his attention. Even non-Awakeners like him appeared capable of entering, and the opportunities there seemed promising. However, if he ever decided to explore it, he would rather do so through another world. With the Origin Battlefield connecting different realms, Brian believed it wouldn’t be long before traveling between them became easier.
In any case, that was something to consider in the future.
For now, with his revenge complete and his responsibilities behind him, Brian saw no reason to remain tied to Aurora any longer.
For the past few days, Brian had been visiting people he was close to or respected, hoping to say his goodbyes before leaving Aurora.
What he hadn’t expected was for the one person he regretted not being able to see to suddenly request his presence.
Michael Norman.
Brian was surprised to learn that Michael had returned to Aurora, much less that he wanted to meet him. Although they weren’t particularly close, Brian still regarded the young man favorably.
Besides, Michael was no longer the ordinary Awakener he had occasionally advised. He was now regarded as a divine being alongside Director Arven. Even among the Federation’s Pillars, more than half probably wouldn’t dare claim superiority over either of them.
And to think Michael had been an ordinary academy student just over a year ago.
Brian immediately abandoned his previous arrangements and headed toward Silvercrest City. Apart from wanting to see Michael before leaving Aurora, he also hoped the young man and the Federation could eventually resolve their differences.
Although Brian had no intention of interfering in their disputes, he wouldn’t mind helping them reach an understanding. After all, the Federation should have been embracing such a powerful native rather than antagonizing him. Unfortunately, those old fools had grown so accustomed to controlling everything that someone beyond their authority naturally made them uneasy.
"Teacher Brian, you’re finally here!"
Michael stood up with a hearty laugh to greet Brian, who had just arrived at the manager’s office of the Supernatural Association branch in Silvercrest.
Brian smiled at Michael’s enthusiastic greeting.
"It’s good to see you again, Michael."
"Likewise, Teacher Brian. Please have a seat."
Michael gestured toward the sofa opposite him before turning to the other people in the office.
"Could you give us some privacy? There’s something I’d like to discuss with Teacher Brian."
Adrian’s expression fell.
This was his office! Not only had Michael suddenly appeared and borrowed his account, but now he was being asked to leave his own office. Unfortunately, no matter how dissatisfied Adrian felt, he didn’t dare voice his complaints.
"Of course, Mr. Michael. Please take your time."
Forcing a respectful smile, Adrian bowed slightly before leading the other officials out.
Only after the door closed did Michael turn his attention back to Brian.
For the next few minutes, the two chatted casually about their recent experiences and the changes that had taken place since their last meeting. Although they hadn’t interacted much in the past, their conversation was surprisingly relaxed.
Eventually, their conversation shifted toward the reason Michael had requested this meeting.
Michael explained his intention to bring his aunt to Aurora, along with the concerns that had made him hesitate. Although he had already gathered considerable information about the current situation in Aurora, he still wanted to hear the opinion of someone familiar with the Federation and the various powers operating within the realm.
After listening to Michael’s explanation, Brian smiled appreciatively.
"It’s good that you still remember the importance of family, Michael. With your current strength and status, it would be easy to become detached from such things."
Michael smiled faintly but didn’t interrupt.
"As for your concerns, they’re understandable," Brian continued. "However, I don’t think you need to worry too much."
"Oh?"
"Naturally, I can’t guarantee what might happen outside Aurora. The universe is vast, and there are countless powerful beings whose intentions we know nothing about."
Brian paused briefly.
"But within Aurora? I can confidently say that no one would dare deliberately antagonize you by targeting your family."
