Chapter 1337: Advancement And True Name
Chapter 1337: Advancement And True Name
Though it was a little strange seeing a man over a century old crying his eyes out, Michael didn’t think any less of him.
He was, after all, someone who had willingly risked a portion of his advancement success rate for his first love, whom he had only known for a few months. Fortunately, things had turned out well in the end. Although there had been a little magic involved in the development of their feelings, his relationship with Arianne had only grown stronger since then.
Michael could hardly criticize someone else for being emotional.
Just as Michael wondered whether he should continue watching, leave, or say something, his expression suddenly changed.
"Hm?"
His gaze shifted toward an apparently empty section of the sky. There was nothing there. At least, nothing that could be seen with ordinary eyes.
Another one?
He could sense a faint fluctuation coming from that direction. It was extremely subtle, almost indistinguishable from the natural movements of energy in the surrounding space.
However, Michael was no ordinary supernatural.
He had already noticed several similar fluctuations since the beginning of his confrontation with Brian. Some had appeared shortly after the old man unleashed his crimson sun, while others had arrived during the subsequent exchange. Their numbers were still increasing.
Although Michael couldn’t determine the exact number of observers concealed within the second layer of the void, he could sense a few particularly powerful presences at Rank 4.
Michael frowned.
He wasn’t particularly surprised that their battle had attracted attention. After all, Brian had practically created a miniature sun in the sky, and the fluctuations from their clash had spread far beyond the surrounding wilderness. It would have been stranger if no supernaturals had noticed.
Nevertheless, Michael found the situation rather annoying.
How troublesome.
Fortunately, he had already taken precautions.
Shortly after Brian calmed down and began speaking with Isabella, Michael had quietly established an illusionary barrier around the three of them.
To accomplish this, he had used his Law of Echoed Existence to reproduce two Laws belonging to Purple and Blue, who, much like Beginning and Lily, had accompanied him since the early days of his journey.
The combination of Purple’s Law of False Manifestation and Blue’s Law of Reflected Reality was particularly effective at concealment.
From the outside, the three figures had completely disappeared, along with every trace of their earlier confrontation.
The scorched earth and shattered terrain appeared to have been replaced by an untouched wilderness. Even spiritual perception and other sensory abilities would detect nothing unusual, as the lingering fluctuations of mana and Law energy were also concealed.
Naturally, the destruction was still there. It was simply hidden beneath the false reality.
With the two Laws complementing each other, and their effectiveness further enhanced by 550 percent through several of Michael’s titles, the resulting barrier was extraordinarily powerful.
Michael was confident that even an ordinary Demigod would struggle to see through it, let alone the Rank 3 and Rank 4 supernaturals observing from the void.
Of course, that didn’t mean the observers would simply give up.
Even if they couldn’t see or sense anything, anyone who had witnessed the earlier battle should realize that the sudden disappearance of every trace was suspicious.
We should probably relocate.
It wasn’t as though Brian and Isabella needed to remain here to continue their reunion.
Having made his decision, Michael turned toward Brian.
"Teacher Brian, I think we should..."
Michael suddenly stopped speaking.
"Hm?"
His gaze settled on the old man, who was still embracing Isabella.
Something was wrong. Or rather, something extraordinary was happening.
The energy within Brian’s body had begun fluctuating. At first, the changes were extremely subtle. However, with Michael’s perception, there was no possibility of overlooking them.
The old man’s aura, which had gradually stabilized after the confrontation, was beginning to rise again.
But this time, there was no violent release of crimson flames. Instead, the energy within his body seemed to be undergoing some kind of transformation.
Michael’s eyes widened slightly.
Wait...
He instinctively raised his head.
The sky above the wilderness had changed. Although the difference wasn’t particularly obvious, the previously clear sky had grown slightly darker. A thin layer of clouds was gathering overhead, gradually obscuring a portion of the sunlight.
There had been no clouds there just moments ago.
Michael looked from the sky back to Brian.
Don’t tell me...
"Teacher Brian..."
His voice caused Brian to finally loosen his embrace. The old man turned toward him, his eyes still red from crying.
"What is it, Michael?"
Michael didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he examined Brian once more, confirming that the changes he had sensed weren’t an illusion.
The fluctuations within the old man’s body were growing stronger with every passing moment.
"You’re about to advance?!"
His voice was filled with disbelief.
What the hell was this? You cry for a bit and the heavens open their doors for you?!

Coincidentally, while Michael was dealing with an unexpected development in Aurora, his counterpart in the Land of Origin had just finished handling matters related to the recent unrest in the empire.
It was only now that he finally had the time to focus on Lily’s changes after her advancement to Rank 5 and transformation into an undead Demigod. He pulled up the panels that had appeared following her advancement.
