Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1350: Sacrifice

Chapter 1350: Sacrifice

Slash!

Blood splattered.

Lon’s expression finally changed.

But Timi didn’t continue attacking.

The moment his dagger broke through the protection, he sensed something unusual about the power surrounding his opponent.

Without hesitation, he withdrew his weapon and retreated several meters.

His movements were so quick that Lon didn’t even have the opportunity to counterattack.

In the blink of an eye, the two had separated again.

Although Lon had managed to defend himself, the ability he had just used came at a considerable cost.

White Lotus Empowerment was a powerful skill, but its effects required him to draw essence from others.

The skill had two states: passive and active.

The passive state was his normal condition, allowing him to permanently strengthen himself by devouring the essence of others.

However, maintaining these enhancements required him to make occasional sacrifices.

The active state, on the other hand, was temporary. It allowed him to greatly increase his strength by drawing essence directly from his followers, sacrificing their vitality to empower himself.

Unfortunately, the two states required different methods of absorbing essence.

The passive state required intimate contact with the victim, regardless of gender, while the active state allowed him to draw essence from those connected to him through their ’devotion’.

But considering the power he received in exchange, Lon believed the cost was more than worthwhile!

Timi landed lightly on the ground, his black eyes fixed on the man before him.

His expression had become considerably more solemn.

What kind of power is that?

Although he had successfully injured Lon, Timi wasn’t particularly pleased.

The fact that his initial attack had been stopped was already enough to make him reconsider his assessment of these people.

His confidence wasn’t entirely without reason.

During his time on Earth, Timi had gradually discovered some facts about the dangers threatening humanity.

The strength of the monsters appearing on Earth seemed to be directly related to the strength of Earth’s natives.

The stronger humanity became, the stronger the monsters that could appear.

Conversely, when humanity was still weak, the truly terrifying existences lurking beyond Earth seemed either unable to descend freely or subjected to suppression when they did.

Timi suspected the demon he had killed to obtain his bloodline was among the latter.

Timi didn’t understand the exact principles behind this phenomenon, but it was because of this that he had always possessed enormous confidence whenever he was on Earth.

Thanks to his unique talent, his growth had been extraordinary.

Although he hadn’t explored every corner of the planet or fought every powerful individual alive, Timi was confident that his present strength had already approached the limits of what Earth could currently accommodate.

In other words, he was standing at the peak of this world’s present power.

What he hadn’t expected, however, was that a group of fanatics he had previously dismissed as nothing more than troublesome would turn out to have someone capable of blocking his dagger.

"You’re draining the lifespans of these people," a cold voice suddenly echoed, drawing the attention of Timi and Lon.

Lily’s expression turned cold as she observed the people surrounding them.

Thanks to her class as a Druid, Lily possessed an extraordinary sensitivity toward life and nature.

Combined with her racial advantages as a High Human, her perception of energy was far superior to that of ordinary supernaturals at the same level.

As such, the moment Lon activated his strange ability, she immediately noticed that the life energy within his followers was rapidly declining.

In fact, one didn’t even need her abilities to notice the changes.

The followers who had previously surrounded them with fanatical expressions were now standing in a daze.

More disturbingly, their appearances were changing, and they were visibly aging as the seconds passed.

It was obviously a life-devouring art.

Timi had noticed it too. He knew someone who could temporarily strengthen themselves by sacrificing their own lifespan, so he understood how valuable life energy could be.

The power Lon had gained from his followers made that even clearer.

Lon looked at Lily with an increasingly satisfied smile.

As expected of someone with such a great fate. Such a beautiful voice and an appearance to match. It’s only a pity that she can only belong to my master.

The fact that she possessed such extraordinary perception only strengthened his conviction that she was the person his master needed.

Lily, on the other hand, felt increasingly disgusted.

Considering how naturally Lon had activated the ability, this was clearly not his first time using it.

He must have done similar things to others in the past.

As for whether his victims had willingly offered their lifespans or had been forced into doing so, Lily couldn’t say.

However, she didn’t particularly care about that distinction.

Even if these people had willingly agreed to sacrifice themselves, it wouldn’t change her assessment of the man before her.

Moreover, based on his earlier actions, his intentions toward her were obviously anything but good.

Lon smiled gently at Lily. He appeared pleased that Lily had finally begun speaking to him.

"Everything you see here is part of a greater purpose. These people have willingly embraced the Great Truth, and through their devotion, they contribute to the salvation of this world."

He spread his arms slightly.

"Life is temporary, but the blessings of my master are eternal. This is merely a sacrifice necessary to achieve something far greater."

His expression grew increasingly fanatical.

"And you, young lady, are someone who possesses an extraordinary destiny. If you would only listen, I could explain the magnificent truth that awaits you."

Lon smiled warmly.

"Allow me to tell you about the greatness of our savior and why this dying world desperately needs her guidance."

However, before he could continue preaching, a sword suddenly appeared in Lily’s hand.

Then, in the very next instant, Lily disappeared from her original position.

Whoosh!

"...!"

Lon’s eyes narrowed, and his heart pounded.

The young girl was already directly in front of him, her sword hurtling toward him.
