Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1349: Strange Master

Chapter 1349: Strange Master

Lon could barely contain his excitement.

Finally!

After so long, he finally had an opportunity to fulfill his master’s wishes. His eyes remained fixed on the young girl standing beside Timi, and the more he looked at her, the harder it became to suppress the anticipation building within him.

It had been almost three months since he first encountered his master. Back then, Lon had been nothing more than an ordinary survivor struggling to stay alive.

He could still remember that night clearly.

He had been at his wit’s end, convinced that his life was finally coming to an end, when a calm, feminine voice suddenly sounded in his mind.

"Everything will be fine."

Those simple words had changed his life.

Not long afterward, Lon discovered that he had obtained a mysterious power. It wasn’t entirely unlike the abilities possessed by the Players, those fortunate individuals who had acquired strange systems that only they could see.

Nor was it completely different from the powers wielded by Espers, who had obtained their abilities through the special serums distributed by the government.

However, Lon knew that his power came from a far greater existence.

His master.

She had saved him when he was at his lowest point and granted him the strength to survive. From that day onward, Lon had devoted himself entirely to her.

Unfortunately, despite receiving such extraordinary grace, he had yet to properly fulfill her wishes.

According to his master, this world desperately needed saving. Humanity was heading toward destruction, and only by accepting her guidance could the world escape its miserable fate.

However, there were obstacles preventing her from extending her salvation to everyone.

The greatest was the will of the world itself.

For reasons Lon couldn’t understand, the world’s will was actively resisting his master’s influence.

There were also several mysterious individuals opposing her.

His master hadn’t explained who they were or what kind of power they possessed. Nevertheless, judging from the few things she had mentioned, those individuals didn’t seem to be her greatest concern.

The will of the world was the real problem.

And that was precisely why she needed people like him.

Her instructions to him were to spread her gospel, gather believers, and, most importantly, locate individuals who possessed great fates connected to this world.

Such people were extremely valuable to his master.

As long as he could find them and bring them before her, he would accomplish something far greater than merely spreading her teachings among ordinary survivors.

Unfortunately, finding such individuals had proven considerably more difficult than he originally imagined.

Three months had passed, yet he hadn’t encountered a single person who truly met his master’s requirements.

Not one!

At times, Lon had even begun wondering whether he was simply too incompetent to recognize them using the gift his master had given him.

Fortunately, he hadn’t been completely useless.

Through his efforts, he had successfully converted numerous survivors into believers of the Great Truth.

He had also offered occasional essence sacrifices, using women he captured to provide his master with the nourishment she required.

Although those offerings were insignificant compared to what his master truly desired, they had at least allowed him to demonstrate his continued devotion.

Otherwise, Lon suspected that he might have been abandoned long ago.

After all, what use was a servant who couldn’t accomplish even the simplest task assigned to him?

However, things were different now.

Looking at the young girl standing beside Timi, Lon felt an excitement unlike anything he had experienced since receiving his master’s blessing.

His eyes shone with fanaticism.

This time, I can finally accomplish something worthy of my master’s grace!

He didn’t know why such an opportunity had suddenly appeared before him.

Nor did he particularly care.

As far as Lon was concerned, this was undoubtedly a blessing arranged by his master.

Using the Great Eye of Truth skill his master had bestowed upon him, he could see a brilliant white light surrounding the girl.

According to his master, such light indicated that a person’s fate was deeply connected to this world. The brighter it shone, the greater their destiny.

Lon could also see a faint light surrounding the boy beside her.

However, compared to the brilliant white light surrounding the girl, the boy’s light was considerably weaker.

Furthermore, there was something strange about it.

Although Lon could clearly see the light surrounding him, it didn’t seem to originate entirely from the boy himself.

Instead, it appeared as though he had been contaminated by the girl’s light.

Or perhaps influenced would be a better word.

In any case, Lon didn’t take him too seriously.

After all, the difference between their lights was simply too enormous.

Of course, if the girl hadn’t been present, things might have been different.

Unfortunately for Timi, he was currently standing beside someone whose light completely overshadowed his own.

"The girl is what matters."

Lon’s eyes grew increasingly excited.

However, just as he finished speaking, he suddenly felt a rush of wind against his face.

Whoosh!

"...!"

A dagger appeared inches from his throat.

Everything happened so quickly.

Lon could see the coldness in Timi’s completely black eyes. There wasn’t the slightest hesitation in them.

This boy genuinely intends to kill me!

Not far away, Lily’s eyes widened slightly in surprise. Evidently, even she hadn’t expected Timi to attack so suddenly.

However, despite the dagger approaching his throat, Lon wasn’t afraid.

How foolish!

He immediately activated the ability his master had granted him.

"WHITE LOTUS EMPOWERMENT!"

A strange gray aura suddenly erupted from Lon’s body.

At almost the same moment, similar gray auras appeared around the followers surrounding him.

However, while Lon’s aura grew increasingly powerful, the auras surrounding his followers rapidly weakened.

In an instant, Lon’s presence underwent a tremendous change.

Clang!

He raised his bare hand and caught the approaching dagger.

"...!"

Timi’s expression changed.

His attack had been blocked!

And with a bare hand, no less!

However, Timi’s reaction was equally quick, and he activated a skill.

A strange energy immediately enveloped the dagger in his hand.

The blade’s sharpness increased dramatically, and before Lon could properly react, it sliced through the gray aura protecting his palm.
