Chapter 972: Sassy Attitude [1]
Chapter 972: Sassy Attitude [1]
Whenever Michael stated that none of his undead were below Rank 3, he was technically not lying.
Putting aside the many Rank 3 undead under his command and the terrifying existences that had already stepped into Rank 4, there was indeed one creature around him that had yet to reach that stage.
Wisdom.
Which was honestly a little ironic.
Among all his undead and contracted creatures, Wisdom was the one whose traits Michael copied the most often.
Whether it was phase movement, spatial sensitivity, or perception enhancement, Wisdom’s abilities had proven useful on countless occasions.
And yet the owl itself was still stuck below Rank 3.
To be fair, this was not because Wisdom lacked talent. Talent might be important to other powers, but to Michael it was not much of a concern. After all, if one lacked talent, he could just use his own talent to feed them some.
The problem was much simpler.
Though Wisdom could barely be considered a true spatial creature at the moment, it still counted as one to some extent. Also, in the entire year since Michael had entered the supernatural world, Wisdom remained the only creature he had encountered capable of naturally using spatial abilities before even reaching Rank 1. It was also the only creature Michael had seen that could count as a spatial type.
This alone already made it extraordinary.
Michael had long intended to use Wisdom’s unique trait as a foundation to push it toward becoming a genuine space beast.
The batch of spatial materials Rynne had previously given him had already brought Wisdom a step closer to that goal. Not only had Wisdom advanced to Rank 2, but its race had also evolved into a Voidfeather, a Three-Star Rare creature with a much stronger affinity toward spatial energy.
However, to Michael, Wisdom still could not truly be considered a complete spatial beast yet.
The reason was because Rare-grade creatures had limits.
Even a peak Rare creature with exceptional stats and abilities would eventually hit a ceiling. More importantly, Michael was worried that future evolutions might dilute Wisdom’s spatial affinity instead of strengthening it further.
What he wanted was not a creature that merely possessed some spatial abilities.
He wanted a creature whose existence fundamentally revolved around space itself.
A true spatial lifeform.
Only then would Wisdom’s future evolution path stabilize around that concept permanently rather than risk drifting elsewhere.
Hearing that Rynne had acquired even more spatial treasures immediately put Michael in a good mood.
He still did not know exactly how far Wisdom’s potential could ultimately go this time. But as long as he could push it into the Extraordinary rank while firmly anchoring its evolution around spatial attributes, Michael would immediately evolve it further and advance it into Rank 3 without hesitation.
"What did you say?"
Rynne looked at him strangely after hearing his sudden compliment.
Michael maintained a completely serious expression.
"Your hairstyle looks good on you."
Rynne stared at him silently.
Michael did not break eye contact.
After a few seconds, Rynne raised a hand and lightly touched her hair.
"I trimmed it."
Michael nodded immediately.
"I noticed."
"...."
Rynne looked unconvinced but did not focus too much on the matter.
Instead, she looked directly at Michael and asked,
"Do you want the materials here or somewhere more private? I suggest we go to my apartment to make the exchange."
Michael’s expression immediately became a little hesitant.
Rynne noticed it instantly.
"...Why do you look hesitant?"
Michael coughed lightly.
"Nothing. Let’s just go."
Michael did not know how to explain himself.
That this was the first time in his two lives that a girl had invited him over to her place?
Though unfocused on matters of love, Michael was still a man. These little thoughts couldn’t help but flash past his mind.
Of course he did not think anything would happen.
Seeing Michael’s silence, Rynne snorted inwardly.
She couldn’t help but think that even if nothing was going to happen, was there a need to be hesitant about being alone with a girl?
If only Rynne knew that Michael saw her as someone with more masculine features than ordinary men. Had she known he did not think of her as a normal girl, she would probably have exploded on the spot.
As they moved through the academy grounds, several students subconsciously glanced in their direction.
Rynne was already famous enough on her own.
Michael was as well. After all, he was the current first-year number one and had displayed a terrifying show of strength just a week ago.
The combination of the two naturally attracted attention.
Michael ignored the gazes completely.
Rynne did as well.
The two walked deeper into the academy grounds until the environment around them gradually began to change, replaced by rows of large studio apartments and independent buildings spread across an expansive district.
The deeper they went, the denser the mana in the surroundings became.
Michael’s eyes flickered slightly.
Interesting.
This was his first time in the two-seater dorms, so he couldn’t help but look around curiously.
After observing the area for a while, Michael couldn’t help but ask a question.
"Do the two-seater dorms not have dust elves?"
Rynne’s lips twitched faintly.
"No."
Michael nodded slowly.
"That’s bad."
"...."
Though Michael had spoken with no hidden meaning in mind, to Rynne it felt like he was bragging.
Especially since Michael himself technically had access to a private residence area far more absurd than this one, thanks to his special status and achievements.
The two eventually stopped in front of one of the deeper buildings within the district.
Compared to the others nearby, this one looked noticeably more refined.
Rynne raised her wrist calmly.
Her edge watch emitted a faint blue glow.
A scanning light swept across her before the apartment entrance unlocked with a soft sound.
Then Rynne stepped aside slightly and gestured inward.
"Welcome to my humble abode."
She deliberately placed emphasis on the word humble.
Michael, thinking it was just a standard greeting, nodded and entered, with Rynne following behind him and closing the door with a quiet sigh.
