Fairy Tail Collapsing Stars Chapter 338

Fairy Tail Collapsing Stars Chapter 338

Buffs Based on Belief Don’t Work on Fellow Fairy Tail Wizards (Part 1)

Kurnugi looked at all the candidates who had already chosen their examiners, puzzled. He truly couldn’t understand—did these people actually plan to pass the exam? Or had he, in fact, been excluded by this group?

Even his own master, Evan—who in his eyes was a complete monster and someone no one here could possibly defeat—even he was chosen as an examiner. And yet, not a single person had picked Kurnugi…

As expected, Fairy Tail was a guild built by humans, after all. As a dragon, he was probably being shunned.

For a moment, Kurnugi felt as though he’d seen through the truth of life. Back when he was fighting in the arena, all those gamblers used to call him “Big Bro Ki.” But now, off the stage, no one even wanted to choose him…

Kurnugi was heartbroken. His eyes welled up with tears. The poor Shabby Saint Dragon just wanted to cry.

“Don’t be sad, Kurnugi.”

Just as Kurnugi wallowed in self-pity, Evan appeared beside him. He gently stroked the dragon’s head with a warm smile.

“Master?!”

Kurnugi’s lips curled slightly upward when he saw Evan.

Right, at the end of the day, the only one who ever really played with him… was his beloved master Evan.

Just like back in Northern Guiltina, those foolish humans weren’t even worthy of his company. He hadn’t been excluded—he just disdained mingling with such lowly beings!

“Kurnugi, how about this—since you’re all alone and seem a little bored, why don’t you help out Natsu and the others?”

“Let’s have you, Natsu, and Mystogan all participate in the exam together. It’s been a while since I’ve checked on your training anyway. I want to see how much of your assignments you’ve completed and whether your self-training has slipped!”

“So we’ll just use this exam to evaluate all three of you at once.”

Evan smiled gently, stroking Kurnugi’s dragon head while cracking his neck with a couple of crisp pop-pop sounds.

“I…”

Kurnugi’s smile froze instantly. His expression turned blank, and all gratitude he had felt toward Evan vanished without a trace.

What exam?! Wasn’t this just a beating in disguise?! As expected, only his mom ever truly loved him. Everyone else just wanted to hurt him…

“Waaahh… Mama, please come back! Kurnugi misses you! These humans are bullying me…”

Kurnugi whimpered in his heart like a complete coward.

“Kurnugi!”

Just as Kurnugi stared at Evan, trembling, a booming voice suddenly rang in his mind.

“Mama?!”

Kurnugi instantly recognized it—it was his mother, the Moon Dragon God Selene!

Perhaps due to the bond between mother and child, it was like Selene actually heard his internal cries for help.

“Kurnugi! I heard everything! You called that old hag Irene your ‘sister,’ didn’t you?! But you called me your ‘mom’?! Are you saying I’m older than that wrinkly old bat?!”

“Just wait until I’m done dealing with Irene! You’re next! You better scrub yourself clean, eat your last meal, and stand still for your execution!”

Selene’s voice was sharp and furious. Clearly, she was multi-tasking—fighting Irene while also yelling at her son telepathically.

“Uhh…”

Kurnugi’s entire dragon body froze. That deep love he had for his mom? Gone. Instantly. Right—they’re dragons. Since when do dragons have warm fuzzy emotions?!

“But you are my mama!”

Kurnugi blinked back tears, confusion clouding his big, wet eyes. Was there really no one left who loved him?

“What’s wrong with Kurnugi?”

Evan smiled as he looked at Kurnugi’s tearful expression and asked warmly.

“Master Evan! I’ll join the others and take the exam with them!”

Kurnugi’s heart warmed at Evan’s kind, spring-like smile. Even though his master always beat him half to death during training, at least there was a chance he’d survive. If his real mother, Selene, got involved? There would be no mercy.

Now his only hope was to get thoroughly beaten by Evan, covered in injuries, and maybe—just maybe—Selene would feel motherly compassion and go easy on him.

“Oh?”

Evan raised a brow at Kurnugi’s sudden enthusiasm. Something wasn’t right. The Kurnugi he knew would never be this eager to get beat up…

Well—Evan shrugged it off. No big deal.

“All right, Natsu, Mystogan, and Kurnugi, follow me!”

Though the S-Class exams were broken into six teams (two candidates and one examiner per group), because Tenrou Island was massive, the exams could happen simultaneously.

So Evan simply used Gravity Magic to lift and carry Natsu, Mystogan, and Kurnugi toward the beach.

“Ugh…”

Natsu’s eyes narrowed as he felt Evan’s Gravity Magic. He tried to resist, but no matter how much magic he channeled, he couldn’t escape the pressure. In other words—if Evan used gravity suppression the moment the exam began, he’d lose instantly.

“As expected from Master Evan… The finesse of this magic is beyond anything I imagined!”

Mystogan, fully equipped with magical tools from head to toe, nodded in awe as he sensed Evan’s overwhelming aura. He still couldn’t forget the time Evan one-punched a Super Dragon Knight into oblivion.

“As expected of my master. He’s grown even stronger…”

“That roar earlier… it wasn’t any weaker than my mom’s!”

“Could it be… Master has reached the level of Mom, Sister Irene, and the other God Dragons?”

Kurnugi was also completely pinned by the gravity. As he recalled Evan’s earlier Dragon Roar, his heart sank in awe.

He could confirm it—Evan’s roar was of the caliber only used by Dragon Gods or Dragon Kings like Selene.

That kind of roar was fundamentally different from normal dragons’. It was the kind of devastating attack that could instantly kill countless dragons in a single blow. Not even exceptionally gifted dragons like him—fully matured—could unleash something like that.

“How does Master train like this?! Sure, humans learn faster than dragons, but Master’s growth speed is just too outrageous!”

Kurnugi couldn’t stop thinking. He had been in Fairy Tail for a while now, and had seen young human wizards progress at jaw-dropping speed from a dragon’s perspective.

While their starting point was lower than dragons, their improvement was blazing fast.

But even so—Evan’s pace was insane.

Evan had only lived a little over ten years. Based on age, he was actually younger than Kurnugi. So how could someone younger surpass him this much in such a short time?

While a decade might seem long to humans, to dragons, it was the blink of an eye. Dragons like the Wood God Dragon could sleep away centuries. And yet, in that same span of time, Evan had reached the pinnacle of the dragon race, capable of challenging Dragon Gods.

Kurnugi didn’t know how to make sense of it—but one thing was clear in his heart: he’d definitely picked the right master.

“Heh heh…”

Evan could tell exactly what Kurnugi was thinking. He smiled and gently patted the dragon’s head.

Yes, he thought to himself, the only reason I’ve reached this level… is because I’ve worked relentlessly these past years.

System, add more stat points—cough…

Thanks to all his hard “training,” Evan had reached the very top of the world in just over a decade.

“We’re here.”

Soon, Evan arrived with Natsu, Kurnugi, and Mystogan at the beach.

“Since you were bold enough to challenge me, I’ll give you a little bonus.”

“As long as any of you can make me move even one step from this spot… I’ll consider you to have passed the exam.”

Evan stood calmly, hands behind his back, smiling at the three of them.

“If we can just make you move, we pass?!”

Natsu, Kurnugi, and Mystogan were all dumbfounded.

“Don’t underestimate me!”

Natsu’s brows twitched, and anger flared in his chest. He leapt forward and launched an attack at Evan with everything he had.

“Fire Dragon’s Iron Fist!”

Natsu roared, his right fist blazing with flames, flying straight at Evan’s face.

“Down you go.”

Evan smiled lightly at the oncoming attack and simply flicked his finger. Immense gravity instantly crashed down on Natsu’s body.

BOOM!

Buffs Based on Belief Don’t Work on Fellow Fairy Tail Wizards (Part 2)

Before Natsu could react, he was slammed into the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.

Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap…

At that very moment, Mystogan made his move!

With a wave of his hand, the five magic circles on his back activated, floating into position around Evan.

“Fivefold Magic Circle: Divine Restraint!”

Mystogan pressed his palms together and shouted.

WOM! WOM! WOM! WOM! WOM!

Brilliant light shone as the five overlapping circles encased Evan, sealing him inside.

“Too green!”

With a flick of his finger, Evan unleashed a flash of black light—before Mystogan could activate his Divine Restraint, the beam struck him squarely.

“Vmm!”

Mystogan had anticipated this. A magical shield lit up around his body, blocking Evan’s blast—but even so, the force sent Mystogan flying.

“Ugh…”

Mystogan flipped in mid-air and landed in the sand, panting heavily with sweat dripping from his brow.

“Take this back~”

But just as he steadied himself, five magic arrays suddenly appeared around him—he had no idea when they got there.

“Crap!”

Mystogan’s pupils contracted in alarm.

“Tenfold Magic Array: Soul Burial!”

Evan’s lips curled into a grin. He had layered five more arrays on top of Mystogan’s original five. This version had already far surpassed Mystogan’s magic.

“This is bad…”

Sweat poured down Mystogan’s face. He knew that if he took this hit head-on, it wouldn’t kill him—but it would absolutely eliminate his ability to fight.

BOOM!

Before he could react, Evan’s gravity magic pinned him to the ground. The ten magic arrays locked in place, emitting an explosive roar as a massive pillar of light engulfed Mystogan.

“Nether Realm Blade Art: Fallen Abyss!”

Just as despair filled Mystogan’s heart, a jet-black slash, darker than ink, tore through the tenfold magic circle and yanked him out of danger in an instant.

“You are?!”

Mystogan turned to look at his rescuer and finally breathed a sigh of relief.

“Honestly… if it weren’t for me, wouldn’t you guys have already lost?”

Kurnugi, now in human form, retracted his left hand—the one that unleashed the slash—and gently set down Natsu, whom he had caught with his other hand. He looked at Mystogan, a bit exasperated.

“Thanks, Kurnugi.”

Mystogan quickly expressed his gratitude.

“No need. Instead of thanking me, think about how we’re going to beat Master.”

Kurnugi shook his head dismissively. Clearly, he didn’t care for thanks.

“Natsu, you can use your Roar, right?”

Kurnugi glanced at Natsu and asked.

“Yeah!”

Natsu nodded slightly, still unsure of what Kurnugi was planning.

“The truth is—dragons can combine their roars! It’s called a United Roar.”

“Natsu, you have to understand—none of us alone can defeat Master. But if we combine our roars, we might have a shot. After all, even if we force him back a single step, that’s already a major win for us…”

Kurnugi gently patted his junior’s head and shared the secret of dragons.

“United Roar!”

“Sounds awesome!!”

Natsu blinked in surprise at first, then quickly lit up and nodded firmly.

“Whew…”

Kurnugi exhaled in relief. He’d been worried Natsu might refuse. But with his agreement, things could finally move forward.

“But… can just two dragons’ roars really push Evan back?”

Kurnugi frowned again. Honestly, he doubted that even he and Natsu together could make Evan, who was practically at Dragon God level, budge. The gap between gods and normal dragons wasn’t something that could be erased with a couple of roars.

“If it’s just about the roar… maybe I can help too.”

Suddenly, Mystogan, who had remained silent, finally spoke up as if he had realized something.

“You?!”

“You’re a Dragon Slayer Mage too?”

“Sniff sniff… no, wait—you don’t smell like a dragon at all.”

Kurnugi stepped closer to Mystogan and sniffed him with suspicion. He didn’t detect the usual scent that Dragon Slayers carried.

“No, I’m not. But… I can be.”

Mystogan replied cryptically as he pulled out a small metal sphere and tossed it onto the sand.

“VMM!!”

As it landed, a humming sound rang out, and vast amounts of magic began gathering toward it.

BOOM!!

In the next moment, a giant magic circle inscribed with a dragon’s emblem burst forth from the orb.

“ROOAARR!!”

A massive mechanical dragon, forged entirely from metal, rose from the array.

“Super Dragon Knight PLUS!”

“This is an upgraded version of the original Super Dragon Knight, developed by Master Wisdom after observing Master Evan up close!”

“It’s also the strongest magical tool I currently possess…”

As he spoke, Mystogan approached the mechanical dragon—and was instantly absorbed into its body in a flash of light.

“ROOOAARR!!”

With its pilot now merged, the mechanical dragon let out a fearsome roar that made every wild beast on Tenrou Island tremble.

“Whoa! Sniff sniff~”

“There’s a Dragon Slayer Lacrima powering it as a core… meaning this is a genuine dragon—just mechanical!”

“If that’s the case, then we have three dragons on our side! Maybe… just maybe, we can defeat Master Evan!”

Kurnugi’s spirit reignited—three dragons vs. one!

“Brother Evan! Don’t underestimate us! We’re Fairy Tail wizards!”

Natsu’s body ignited with dragon flames. In his words: he was fired up.

“Hey! You three—get ready!”

“United Roar is an advanced technique. It can only be performed by dragons who are perfectly in sync!”

“We’re ready…”

Kurnugi took a deep breath, channeling an immense amount of magic into his lungs.

“Fire Dragon’s…”

Natsu prepared his own roar alongside him.

“Super Mechanical Dragon Knight’s…”

From inside the cockpit, Mystogan began operating the control console.

“…ROAR!!”

In that moment—when their magic and spirits aligned—all three released their roars simultaneously!

Three terrifying roars, each from a different attribute, erupted in unison and shot straight toward Evan like a magical tidal wave!

“We’re all Fairy Tail wizards! Don’t underestimate us, Brother Evan!!”

As the combined will of Kurnugi, Natsu, and Mystogan surged forth, the Fairy Tail insignias on their bodies shone brilliantly—amplified by the sacred Tenrou Tree!

Their magic was empowered even further, and the roars grew more destructive by the second.

“Yes… this is the power of belief…”

“But you made one mistake, Natsu, Kurnugi, Mystogan…”

“I’m also a Fairy Tail wizard~”

Evan smiled as the storm of magic approached. Yes, this was the power of belief—born from trust between guildmates.

But unfortunately…

That power doesn’t work on another Fairy Tail wizard.

“Azure Dragon’s Collapsing Fist!”

With a smile, Evan threw a single punch.
