Chapter 509: XYZ
Chapter 509: XYZ
Without turning his body, Genesis tilted his head to the side to look at Benny and said with a smile, "Obviously, we need some of your toys. Precisely speaking, borrow them or rent them if that's possible with you"
"Hmmm…are you not in a good relationship with the branch in this city?" Benny questioned as he can already smell the gossip from a mile away.
Genesis looked at Monk, and the latter just shrugged his shoulders.
Taking that as a sign, Genesis finally opened his mouth and said, "Well…this city's branch head is this guy's old flame and they didn't separate on good terms, so yeah. That's why…we're here"
This was the first time he felt amazement at Monk, Benny shot him a thumbs up while saying, "I didn't know you're that hardcore, just amazing"
"Shut up, everyone has their own preferences. You of all people should know that" Monk sneered as his eyes scanned him from top to bottom.
Benny ignored his leering eyes and instead turned his attention back to Genesis, "Anyway, you two want my help, right? So what can you do for me? By the way, I'm not short on cash"
"Anything…" Genesis said and paused for a second before he continued, "as long as you provide us with anything that we need for our operation while we're here, including accommodation plus meals"
"..."
There was a short bout of silence as Benny contemplated with furrowed brows, "Anything?"
"Yes, anything! As long as it's within our capability" Monk interjected, with a little impatience in his voice.
"Then…I want you to get rid of Lee Moon-seok"
After a short silence, Benny finally laid down what he wanted from them and you can feel the deep chilling hatred in his voice when he uttered the person's name.
Monk and Genesis gave each other a look, both were clearly surprised from hearing the name. Not because they know the guy, but because they already have a hunch that they might need to head back to where they recently left from.
"Who is Lee Moon-seok?" Monk carefully asked since he can feel the kind of deep seated grudge coming from the Red Baron.
"The Captain of MV Jewel. I lost my beloved niece because of his negligence, I want you to properly get rid of him" Benny softly closed his eyes as the face of his niece smiling at him suddenly surfaced in his mind, causing his voice to crack.
Both men were slightly surprised since this is the first time that they are hearing that the Red Baron, deemed one of the most merciless in the underworld, actually had a kin before.
It just goes to show that he's even more secretive than them, and Genesis who has been his friend and also a long time rival due to their affiliations, was hearing it for the first time.
"Niece? I thought you were an orphan?" Genesis calmly asked, his astonishment from earlier had already subsided.
"I'm a very secretive person when it comes to things important to me, that's why I'm living peacefully unlike you two" Benny answered and he didn't forget to take a jab at them.
Genesis ignored his words and instead asked, "So where's this man's location then?"
"Joseon"
"Come on, we just came from there!"
Monk was immediately irked after hearing his answer, though Genesis remained calm since he somewhat expected that answer from him.
"That would be a problem, we need to lay low for a while before we can go back to Joseon" Genesis said with helplessness. It would be impossible for them to return right now since the country is currently a hotbed of authorities and sweepers who had flocked into the country looking for them.
Currently, there are even people who are currently on their tail, after that bounty on their heads.
Benny shrugged his shoulders and said, "That's fine, you can do it later. After all, you two still have some unfinished business over there, right?"
"No we don't," Monk quickly answered him then added, "Seems like your information ain't that reliable"
Surprised, Benny stared at him for a few seconds before saying, "Really?"
"Yeah, we didn't have any reasons to go back there before, but now we do. We'll agree to your terms, should we sign on it?"
This time, it was Genesis who answered him and clarified their stance on the matter at hand since they don't have any good options to choose from right now.
"No need, I'll take your words for it" Benny replied, not worried that they would go back on their word since no one would ever work with them if the news got out that they don't keep their word.
Sweepers like them, even the retired ones operate based on trust.
"Got it. So first off, we need a SVD Dragunov, you have one right?" Monk immediately said after the verbal agreement.
"Going old school huh? Of course we have that" Benny replied as he turned around and walked over the steel cabinet at the corner of the room.
"Nope, I just know it is the most commonly available sniper rifle in these parts" Monk said casually, but in the ears of other people, especially the locals like Benny, the meaning behind his words might offend them.
"Hmmmp"
Benny lightly snorted and took out a well maintained Dragunov from the cabinet and handed it over to Monk.
"Here, I hope it's to your liking since the weapon is probably as old as your grandfather already and might have gotten rusty over the years" Benny said with a small smile.
Monk just ignored him and started checking the rifle by taking it apart, and while that was happening, Genesis who was slowly walking around the place spotted something that quickly caught his eyes.
A display rack stored at a very hidden spot, behind a display board that has wheels where knives of different sizes were put on display.
Behind that was a small display glass case similar to those you can find in museums, and inside the glass case was a Colt Python with a 6 inch long barrel.
"What's this thing doing here?" Genesis muttered as he slowly pulled the knives display board away to get a clearer look at the pistol.
"I didn't know that guy actually collects revolvers. Hmm, I'm slowly learning more about him the longer we stay here" he muttered while deeply admiring the revolver.
"Hmm?"
But then his admiration turned into bewilderment when he spotted something that was engraved on the lower part of the wooden grip of the firearm, small letters that wrote…
"XYZ-RS, XYZ…why do these letters ring a bell?"
He kept muttering the letters until something finally clicked and his eyes slowly turned wide eyed as his head snapped towards Benny and yelled at him!
"Hey Benny! Is this what I think this is?!"
Due to his sudden yelling, both men were startled as they quickly turned towards Genesis to see what was happening.
Benny immediately spotted the glass case beside Genesis and quickly figured out what was going on.
"Yep, you're not wrong. That revolver is what you're thinking!" Benny smiled with an arrogant look on his face while he slowly walked over towards him. Monk followed behind, curious at what made Genesis act like he had just seen a ghost.
"This is really his?"
"Damn right it is"
