Chapter 518: Regressing!
Chapter 518: Regressing!
While the talk between Flame Rose Guild and Revenant Guild is taking place.
Dana and Allison are also having a serious conversation inside the presidential suite of the hotel the members of the Flame Rose Guild are staying at.
"You only invited two medium-sized guilds and one small guild. Are we really not gonna include any of the nine major guilds on this quest?" with concern on her face, Dana asked her sister.
Allison looked at her and asked, "Why not? With the addition from the Revenant Guild, I think our chances of completing this quest is pretty high"
"Aren't you counting on them too much? Sure, they're pretty strong, but they don't specialize in group fights. I'm not against your decision of wanting to recruit them on board but I would have been more confident if at least Amanda or Michael would join since their individual firepower is as destructive as a Wizard" Dana added, still quite not satisfied with her answer.
"Relax, I already made a lot of preparations for this. We're not failing this Main Quest" Allison replied with a reassuring smile as she ruffled her sister's hair.
Slap!
Dana annoyingly slapped her hand and pouted, "Stop it! I'm not a kid anymore!"
"But you…do you have something up your sleeves? I know that smile, I'm sure you must have prepared some trump card in the off chance that we do fail it" she continued when she saw that familiar smile on her sister's face earlier. She's already familiar with that smile as her sister has a habit of doing that if she has a very nefarious plan in mind.
Allison smiled and chuckled, "Am I doing it again?! And yes, I do have some back-up plan, but I would prefer not to use it since its very costly even for me"
"Hey, did you really not invite any of the nine major guilds?" Dana probed further once again as she couldn't help but want to scratch the itch of curiosity in her heart.
Allison stood up from her seat while saying, "I really did not! You'll just see! Anyway, Dylan just notified me that the negotiations are now beginning to wrap up. Let's head down and wait for them in the lobby"
Quietly watching her sister leave, Dana murmured to herself in worry, "Can we really do this?"
In another corner of the city, Midnight Summer Cafe.
"It would be a pleasure to work with your guild again"
Finally satisfied with the result of their negotiation, Michael stood up from his seat and offered Maverick a handshake.
"I look forward to it and I would look more forward to it if you'd be able join us Amanda" Maverick also stood up and shook his hand. Though his attention was clearly directed at the woman sitting beside Michael, and the facial expression on his face can't be painted.
"I would like it too, but I still need to do something since I only have less than a week left before my Quest fails. Though I'll catch up as soon as possible" Amanda didn't give him a definite answer, but just a vague reassurance.
Maverick just smiled and didn;t say anything further.
"What the…you're not gonna even ask me if I'm coming?" Michael said in a joking manner when he saw that Maverick didn't even ask him and had already started preparing to leave.
Dylan rolled his eyes at him and was the one to reply, "Oh stop it, we already don't have any expectations that you're even coming since you're literally so far away and on uncharted territory"
Michael laughed and replied, "Come on man, maybe I can rush back. We'll never know"
Dylan stared straight at his eyes for a moment before releasing a sigh, "Yep, I doubt you can even come"
"And how would you even know that?" Michael said with a shrug.
The group talked as they walked towards the door under the intense stares of the female patrons in the cafe.
"I guess, you'd probably be the first one to exit right about now. I've known you for a long time, man. You have a habit of rushing to complete things that you were doing before just so that you can quickly skip to the next important thing" Dylan replied with a laugh as the group exited the establishment.
"I do that? How come I've never noticed it?" Michael muttered to himself in confusion while watching Maverick and Dylan leave in a Lincoln Navigator.
Amanda on the other hand had left Michael by himself outside the cafe and had gone back inside to check on how things were going.
Michael replayed all of the scenes he ever did in his mind and he realized that sometimes he does indeed do what Dylan had mentioned, but at the same time, he also realized one terrifying fact!
'My god! My mind…I think my mind is actually regressing back according to the age of my current physique! How come I'm only realizing it now?! So this is the reason why I felt like I haven't been acting like myself since I came back!' Michael was horrified upon discovering this terrifying realization.
'Thinking about it now, I wouldn't have openly provoked the Black Skull Gang then and would have taken care of those people in the shadows. I also wouldn't have been so reckless and go on a car chase with Jin back then. This…it seems like my body's current age has clouded my judgment and I never even noticed it until now if Dylan had never mentioned my habits.
I should consider my actions from now on since this is what had gotten me in trouble the last time. Though I think it's a little bit too late for that now'
Michael quietly reflected on his actions and didn't even notice that the pondering look on his face had actually enamored a lot of ladies who were passing by on the road in front of him and some had even boldly taken pictures of him.
"Miss, your boyfriend is really handsome. Aren't you worried that someone among these women might try to snatch him from you?" one of Amanda's employees worriedly whispered to her when she saw the scene happening inside and outside of the cafe.
Amanda just looked at the scene taking place before her and confidently replied, "Not really"
'Besides, Michael is quite the blockhead. He does not even know that he's actually that good looking and had always thought of his face to just be above average'
