Chapter 546: Monopoly

Chapter 546: Monopoly

"I want this! I've always wanted a Trident!"

"What for, for decoration? You're a Wizard, neither a Warrior nor a Barbarian

Cereal Killer shouted while looking at the Trident in his hands with shining eyes, but Minerva quickly poured cold water on his dreams.

"Shut it, babe. Don't you dare step on my aspirations!"

"Aspirations, my ass!"

Cereal Killer glared at Minerva, and the latter just rolled her eyes and proceeded in picking up the other items from the ground.

"Relax CK! Besides, we're not even sure if any of the current class specification is able to use that weapon. So how about you let me go at it and see if I can use it?" a long haired middle aged man, an Elder of the guild stepped forward and quickly led the discussion to another subject, lest the two lovers get into an argument.

"Alright, see if you can use it since there was never a mention of class specification" Cereal Killer said as he handed the weapon over to him.

The middle aged man, called Koala, took the Trident from him and immediately tried swinging it.

Ding!

Deep Sea Trident is resisting you!

Please earn its recognition to be able to use it!

Ding!

Deep Sea Trident is resisting you!

Please earn..

Koala tried to swing the Trident multiple times, but the weapon or more accurately his arm wouldn't budge like it was clamped hard by something.

"It says the weapon is resisting me"

Looking at the string of messages, Koala explained to the people watching him.

"How come those messages never appeared when I tried to use it?"

"Probably because you're not a melee class"

Unconvinced, the other executives who are either Barbarians, Warriors, and Knights, who weren't knighted yet tried their hands on it.

"I'm receiving the same message"

"Me too, though this is my first time seeing a weapon with a personality"

"It's what makes it interesting, though it sucks that the Boss only dropped one Unique Item"

In the end, the Trident eventually returned to Cereal Killer hands and threw it inside his Inventory, where the image of the item quickly lost its colors, becoming dull.

It's a mechanism when an item is not equippable for the player's Class.

Eventually, Minerva and the others had sorted out all the items the Boss had dropped.

Deep Sea Trident x1

Ring of Colossus x1

Bracelet of the Deep x1

Naga's Blood x3

Enhanced Mana Potion Recipe x1

Elixir Potion x2

Naga Scale x9

Naga Fang x4

Gold Coins x189

There were also several common items that were dropped from the Murlocs and were turned over to the Guild Vault and exchanged for gold coins that were evenly distributed to all the players that participated.

"Hand over that Trident" Minerva walked over towards her boyfriend and lightly tapped him on his shoulder and demanded the Deep Sea Trident to be turned over.

"Can't I just buy it?" Cereal Killer said while he reluctantly gave the Trident to her.

"No, if you want it, then bid for it" Minerva shut him down and quickly gathered the remaining members around her.

"Now, let's start the bidding!"

It took a while since the bidding became heated, especially at the end as a lot of the players were interested in the Deep Sea Trident and started a bidding war against each other.

Fortunately or unfortunately, through sheer determination and a huge hole in his finances, Cereal Killer eventually won the bidding for the Trident.

The bracelet was won by a Wizard, named Monti, who specialized in Water Magic.

Unfortunately for Maverick, his proxy who bidded for the ring failed to acquire the Ring of the Colossus and was instead won by Bear Kuma, who beat their combined finances.

While the miscellaneous items like the Enhanced Mana Potion recipe, Elixir Potion, the Naga Scales and Fangs were acquired by the guild, most importantly the mana potion recipe, which is even more valuable than the Trident.

Minerva pretty much cockblock everyone from acquiring it, the alchemists were the most devastated by her decision since they knew that they not only had to compete for it, they also had to earn the Guild Leader's trust in them to be able to learn that recipe.

If the Flame Rose Guild is able to successfully produce a Enhance Mana Potion, they will now have adequate resources in the game to be able compete against the Nine Major Guild in terms of resources.

And unlike before when they only had ordinary players applying to them, they will now be able to attract a considerable number of players to them, especially from those mana reliant players.

Eventually, bolstering their guild prowess.

After all, there's no Enhanced Mana Potion in the market and they would have monopoly over it for a period of time until another guild or player manages to get the same recipe

"With the resources they have in the real world, do you think they finally have a chance of competing against any of the Nine Majors?" Ripley asked her friend since she's not that familiar yet with the power dynamics in Northern Rica Principality.

Storm Moonlight, with her arms crossed and watching the people from Flame Rose Guild bidding on the items, replied, "If it's only the real world, then they can. After all, Minerva's paternal side is full of people from various departments of the government, including the army and the police. Her mother's side also has giants in the financial world. But in the game, I doubt that they can only rely on their skills and luck here since there's only the gold to real world currency exchange and not the other way around. Unlike the Nine Majors, they also still haven't been able to firmly establish themselves among the numerous guilds. That's why they were very eager for this Quest"

"Shadow also told me that he's planning to give one of the Baronet titles he has to them. That…that Noble title will be the game changer once they acquire that"

Ripley nodded like he understood her and then she said, "Hmm..then why are they not still sending people to Neverwinter? Don't tell me, those players that were logged out will be the ones who will go there?"

"Plausible since they can't spare additional manpower at this point" Storm Moonlight shrugged her shoulders as she also wasn't sure, they can only theorize at this point.
