Chapter 549: Survey Corps and Setting Off
Chapter 549: Survey Corps and Setting Off
"Tsk!"
The Elven Woman clicked her tongue, clearly unsatisfied with the result.
"Are you finally satisfied?"
Minerva quickly fixed her clothes and donned her armor back.
"Hmmmp!" Captain Shannon let out an annoyed snort and walked out of the tent without saying anything.
The two elves left inside looked at each other before one of them stepped forward and said, "Please don't mind our Captain, she..she's just not very fond of you, humans"
"I understand"
"My name is Nari and this is my brother, Noor. We're members of the Survey Corps, who are assigned to work outside our Kingdom"
Nari is the Dark Elf who's hair reaches his shoulder blades, while Noor is the one whose hair is tied in a ponytail.
"Here, take this" Nari said as he took out something like a badge from his inner chest pocket and handed it to Minerva.
It was pentagon shaped and ash colored, made from some kind of wood with a skull of a cat sculpted at the center, with a small bundle of red string tied on one side.
"What's this for?" Minerva asked with curiosity as the thing looked masterly crafted with a smooth and some kind of glossy surface while touching it.
"Think of it like a Proof of Certification, it would send a signal to any nearby Survey Corps Team if you or vice versa bumps into each other. With this, you won't need to experience something like this again" Nari explained, his tone this time was a lot friendlier compared to before.
Friend of the Black Cats (Token) (Undroppable)
This token is only given to people that Dark Elves regard as their friends.
Effects:
+300 Fame
+1000 Prestige (Kingdom of the Black Cats) [Will only take effect when the Kingdom is discovered]
+Dark Elves you will encounter from now on will treat you like a Close Friend (certain actions would reduce this effect)
'Fame, that's a lot'
Minerva was immensely happy at getting those additional points on Fame, but her brows quickly furrowed slightly when her eyes landed on the second effect of the token.
'An undiscovered Kingdom!'
"That's the end of it and if you have the chance, don't forget to visit our Kingdom"
"Wait, do you have a map leading to your home?"
After saying what the words he wanted to convey to her, Nari immediately turned around and when both siblings were about to leave the tent, Minerva quickly called out to them, stopping them in their tracks.
"I see"
Hearing her words, Noor, who had been silent the entire time, opened his mouth like he had just thought of something, and it wasn't just him, his brother also realized something when he heard her.
"If you want to visit our home, then you can go back to your Master and ask her. That's all I can say" Noor briefly explained, then left without looking back. Nari gave her a nod and followed after him.
"Alright"
Minerva quickly followed after them, but when she left her tent, they were already gone. She tried to look around, but her efforts were futile.
"I wouldn't have even known how I died if they wanted to kill me"
It was only a game, but it terrified her how they were able to quickly disappear in only a moment.
"Now I understand why Master Asuna told me that they are most commonly known as Black Cat. With those skills, they certainly live up to their names, agile and sneaky like a cat. I wonder how Shadow will fare well against them if they go head-to-head against each other?"
As the chilly night wind breeze passed against her, Minerva shivered, though she wasn't sure if she was shivering because of the cold winds or because she had just brushed past against death tonight.
"I would hate myself if I had died tonight"
Then she sent a couple of messages to a number of people and went back inside her tent before leaving the game moments later.
On the other hand, the Dark Elf Trio actually didn't leave that far, they were actually hiding behind a tent, three tents away from Minerva's tent.
"I wanted to kill her," Captain Shannon whispered in annoyance while watching Minerva run around, trying to look for them.
Nari shrugged his shoulders and replied, "You could have, but these "outsiders" would just return a couple of days later, alive and healthy"
"But weaker" Captain Shannon argued, after watching and observing countless of these "outsiders", "adventurers" or whatever they were called, their Survey Corps or other intelligence bodies in the game had concluded and built concrete information surrounding these people or players.
First, they are immortal.
Second, they come back to life 3 days after their death.
Third, they are annoying and persistent.
Fourth, they tend to lean on the good side.
Fifth, they are greedy for money and quest.
Lastly, sixth, they're extremely stupid for shouting the name of their abilities before using them, especially those who chose to become Wizards.
"They're a volatile group, they ought to be destroyed or else they'll take over lands. Probably worse than the Sea Race will ever be. I don't want to say "I told you so" when that happens" Captain Shannon let out light snort before turning around and vanishing into the night.
"But I think they're quite an interesting species though"
Soon after, the siblings followed after her, Nari's voice softly echoing through the darkness.
The following day in the game, Neverwinter Border.
From the side of the Kingdom Alliance, a small platoon of troops suddenly departed from the camp early in the morning and headed towards the direction of the Monster Horde.
A similar scene was also taking place on the other side, an almost similar number of troops was dispatched from the monster camp, mostly consisting of Orcs riding on their Black furred wolves and they rode towards the human encampment in a loose formation.
Finally, after days of stalemate between the two sides, the two armies finally decided to set up a meeting between them.
