Chapter 1387: 1386 handles
Madam Qian sneered inwardly, turned her head, and gave Wei Jingshan a questioning look with her eyes.
Wei Jingshan bit her lip hard and said stiffly, “I’ll find a way to make General Qian safe.”
“Miss Wei, you’ve said this before. Why should I trust you?”
Madam Qian wasn’t a fool. Her eyes were full of doubt as she looked at Wei Jingshan. The expression on her face clearly conveyed, “Your words are no longer credible.”
Wei Jingshan frowned. She felt annoyed and wanted to snap back, but she suppressed it. She couldn’t leave Kangning Hospital—not only couldn’t leave, but had to prove her worth here.
She had to become an outstanding surgeon, then become the young mistress of the Gu Family, step into high society, and rewrite her destiny.
“Don’t you have evidence in your hands? If I don’t deliver, you’ll surely expose me. What are you afraid of?”
“This evidence doesn’t scare you at all, does it? But if I had evidence that you caused Professor Fang’s death this time, I imagine you wouldn’t dare to break your promise.”
Madam Qian’s mocking tone seemed deliberately louder as they stepped closer to the stairwell door. Wei Jingshan instinctively stopped her: “Don’t speak so loudly.”
Her expression changed slightly. “Don’t think I don’t know your goals, Madam Qian. Even if you’re privy to certain things, you can’t have your cake and eat it too. If I were you, I would definitely choose to save General Qian. This is a hospital. Saving lives is not only a doctor’s duty but also the reason Gu Kai is operating on your son. It’s not purely to save him—he’s also proving himself.”
“Of course I know. As long as I pay the money, Gu Kai has no reason not to operate on my son. Otherwise, why would I come to you?”
Madam Qian retorted with a displeased expression.
“Then that’s fine. Madam Qian, rest assured. Since you have leverage over me, I’ll fulfill my promise.”
“Anyway, Old Qian has already collaborated with Miss Wei. How about this: next time you’re sending a package to Fang Zhiwei or something, let me handle the delivery, so we can all be at ease. What do you think?”
Madam Qian’s words didn’t sound particularly strange to Wei Jingshan.
She simply thought Madam Qian didn’t trust her to help Qian Songnan.
Wei Jingshan hesitated briefly, a flicker of ruthlessness passing through her eyes, before suddenly smiling. “Since Madam Qian is so sincere, of course, I’m willing.”
As she spoke, her smile faded, and she furrowed her brows, looking troubled. “General Qian has committed so many offenses. To be honest, it’s extremely difficult to ensure his safety. Why not have Madam Qian address one matter for me first?”
“What matter?”
Madam Qian blinked in surprise.
Wei Jingshan glanced toward the stairwell door. Although no one had come in, she still stepped forward and leaned close to Madam Qian’s ear, lowering her voice. “Help me deal with someone first…”

On the road back to the factory, Wen Jin and Wen Ran noticed the snow beginning to fall.
Throughout the drive, Wen Jin talked softly with Wen Ran as he drove at a leisurely pace. The atmosphere in the car was warm and cozy.
“Brother, is Xiaocha doing well at work?”
Wen Ran suddenly changed the topic, catching Wen Jin, who was driving, slightly off guard. He paused before smiling faintly. “She’s doing alright. Jing Xiaocha is a quick-witted young lady and very hardworking.”
“That’s good. Balancing work and study is tough. Brother, don’t be too hard on her,” Wen Ran reminded him gently.
“Don’t worry. She’s a bit like you in personality—once she’s stubborn, even a herd of oxen couldn’t pull her back. No wonder you care so much about her.”
Wen Jin’s words carried a hint of teasing warmth and deep affection. Despite being in the same city, it was rare for the siblings to have such heartfelt conversations.
“Ranran, have you been dieting? Why do you look thinner again?” Wen Jin glanced at her briefly before turning his focus back to the road ahead.
Wen Ran laughed lightly and shook her head. “Not at all. Every day, I’m running around with those three little troublemakers. There’s no need for dieting.”
“Running around?” Wen Jin repeated her words with a chuckle.
Picking up on his teasing tone, Wen Ran rolled her eyes at him. “Brother!”
“Haha, you said it yourself. Alright, I won’t mention it again,” Wen Jin laughed heartily. The siblings continued chatting until they unknowingly arrived at the factory.
After parking the car, they noticed the snow had gotten heavier, with flurries falling like cotton and blanketing the ground.
“Ranran, wait for a moment.”
Wen Jin stopped Wen Ran, got out of the car first, opened an umbrella, and then went to open her door.
“Brother, it’s snowing, not raining. There’s no need for an umbrella,” Wen Ran teased, smiling as she looked at the umbrella in Wen Jin’s hand.
Wen Jin unwaveringly held the umbrella over her head. “Snow melts into water. An umbrella is better. Are you cold? You’re dressed so lightly.”
Wen Ran, touched by her brother’s care, responded with a radiant smile. “Not cold. It’s just a few steps until we’re inside the warm office.”
As they reached the upper floors and were walking toward the office, they ran into Jing Xiaocha coming from the opposite direction, holding a stack of freshly copied documents. Upon seeing Wen Jin and Wen Ran, a bright smile spread across Jing Xiaocha’s face, and she quickly stepped forward. “President Wen, Sister Wen.”
“Xiaocha, take a cup of warm milk to my office,” Wen Jin instructed calmly before turning to Wen Ran. “Ranran, head into the office first. It’s chilly here in the hallway.”
“Alright, President Wen,” Jing Xiaocha responded immediately, quickening her pace as she left.
Two minutes later, Jing Xiaocha knocked on Wen Jin’s office door with the warm milk in hand. She walked over to the sofa with a cheerful smile. “Sister Wen.”
“Go on with your work,” Wen Jin said. Noticing that Jing Xiaocha wasn’t leaving after placing the milk down, he glanced up at her and spoke calmly.
Jing Xiaocha bit her lip slightly and asked softly, “President Wen, may I speak with Sister Wen for a few minutes? Just five minutes—I’d like to ask her about something.”
As she spoke, she extended one hand, signaling it would only take five minutes.
Wen Ran smiled slightly. “Xiaocha, what’s the matter?”
“Ranran, you chat with her. I’ll head to the lab,” Wen Jin said, a hint of displeasure flashing in his eyes as he glanced at Jing Xiaocha. Finally able to spend time talking to Ranran at the factory, he was clearly unhappy about the interruption.
Realizing Wen Jin’s displeasure, Jing Xiaocha felt a pang of guilt. Her large eyes blinked a few times before she suddenly acted as though she remembered something: “Oh, I just realized Director Wu is waiting for these documents. I’ll deliver them first, Sister Wen. I’ll call you another time!”
“Hey…”
Before Wen Ran could finish speaking, Jing Xiaocha darted out of the office like a gust of wind.
“This Xiaocha—she’s truly like the wind,” Wen Ran said with a laugh.
Wen Jin’s eyes softened, and a tender smile appeared on his lips. “Ranran, drink the milk while it’s warm to warm your stomach.”
“Brother, don’t worry about me. Go to the lab,” Wen Ran replied, smiling as she waved her hand. She then picked up the milk, gently blew on it twice, and drank it all.
