Chapter 1457: 1456 Always together
Chapter 1457: 1456 Always together
Lu Zhiyan’s handsome face was as dark as the skyline before a storm, his eyes on Fang Zhiwei flickered with a multitude of emotions in an instant.
His hands clenched into fists, veins faintly visible.
Time seemed to have stood still in that moment.
The air stopped flowing.
Fang Zhiwei was scared by Lu Zhiyan’s gaze and gloomy expression, her heart flustered for a moment, but amidst her anger, she still bit her lip, stubbornly raising her chin, unwilling to show weakness.
Just looking at Lu Zhiyan, her rage diminished a bit.
In the silent confrontation, Fang Zhiwei gradually lost her courage. Just as she was about to compromise and apologize to Lu Zhiyan, he suddenly took action.
She stood there, completely stunned!
In a daze, her eyes widened.
Filled with shock and disbelief, the unfamiliar sensation transmitted to her brain’s central nervous system. She was still frozen, not yet reacting. When she finally did, she realized that the man whom she hadn’t known for long was kissing her forcefully.
Anger flared in Fang Zhiwei’s eyes, and she pushed him hard with both hands.
Lu Zhiyan let her go, his voice deep, “Fang Zhiwei, forget Gu Kai, be my girlfriend.”
“…”
Fang Zhiwei was struck as if by lightning.
Once again, she was stunned.
For a moment, her mind went blank—not knowing whether it was because of that kiss or because of his words, which, she didn’t even know, were a confession or not.
Right, she wasn’t even sure if it was a confession. He told her to forget Gu Kai and be his girlfriend.
As Lu Zhiyan spoke, he seemed startled by his own words, but quickly regained his composure.
Looking at Fang Zhiwei with deep, steady eyes, he was indifferent to her change from being dazed to embarrassed and angry, “I know saying it like this is sudden, but I’ve fallen for you, Zhiwei. I’m willing to wait for you to forget Gu Kai.”
“…”
Fang Zhiwei opened her mouth, but her throat felt clogged, unable to utter a single note.

At the Civil Affairs Bureau, there were many people getting their marriage certificates today.
Some brought children along, but unlike Gu Kai and Bai Yiyi’s situation, none of those children were as pretty and cute as Tongtong.
“Dad, Mom, line up.”
As they entered the hall, Tongtong’s big, dark eyes darted around. After scanning the people inside, she pointed to the back of the line and called out to Gu Kai and Bai Yiyi.
“Tongtong, no loud noises in public places.”
Bai Yiyi glanced awkwardly at the gazes drawn to them, softly reminding Tongtong.
Gu Kai appeared jubilant, with a handsome and charming smile across his brow. Unlike Bai Yiyi’s embarrassment, he was proud, holding Tongtong in one arm while extending the other to hold Bai Yiyi.
Without further ado, he stood in line at the back, holding his daughter and his wife.
“Dad, what does the certificate look like?”
Tongtong stretched her neck curiously to look ahead.
“See that? The red booklet that uncle is holding—that’s the certificate.”
Gu Kai explained patiently, and Tongtong’s eyes immediately lit up as she followed the direction of his finger, “The red booklet is the certificate? I want a certificate too.”
“Pff—”
A couple in line ahead couldn’t help but laugh, the woman turned around and looked at Tongtong, “This little one is so cute.”
“You’re Doctor Gu, right? And this is Miss Bai?”
The man beside her looked between Gu Kai and Bai Yiyi, then asked in surprise.
They were somewhat famous.
They had been on the news, held press conferences, and had been widely talked about online. Even if one hadn’t been to Kangning Hospital, anyone living in G City had likely heard of Gu Kai’s name.
“Yes, are you also here to get your certificate?”
Gu Kai smiled politely, showing no intent for further conversation. After speaking, he looked down and gently explained to Tongtong, “Tongtong, kids can’t get certificates. Only when you grow up can you get one.”
“When will I grow up?”
Tongtong blinked her beautiful big eyes, looking at her father in confusion.
Gu Kai smiled and said, “In sixteen years, Tongtong will be grown up.”
“Will I be able to get a certificate then?” Tongtong asked with a cheerful smile, then turned to look at Bai Yiyi, “Mom, will you and Dad always be together?”
“Dad, Mom, and Tongtong, we will always be together.”
Bai Yiyi raised her hand to fix a strand of hair that had fallen on Tongtong, answering gently.
“Always together.”
Tongtong reached out to grab Bai Yiyi, pulling her forward, “Tongtong also wants a certificate with Dad, a certificate with Mom, we’ll always be together.”
“…”
Bai Yiyi’s mouth twitched, signaling with her eyes for Gu Kai to quickly explain.
This little girl was making jokes, even at the Civil Affairs Bureau.
The phone’s ringtone rang, and as she answered, Gu Kai patiently explained to Tongtong, “Tongtong, you can’t get a certificate with Mom and Dad, after you grow up, you can only get a certificate with someone you like.”
“Yiyi, have you and my brother finished getting your certificate?”
Wen Ran’s cheerful voice came through on the phone.
Bai Yiyi looked at the line ahead, uncertainly saying, “No, we’re still in line, it might take an hour.”
“Ah, Mo Xiuchen called earlier, saying to have lunch at home. I’ll pick up Aunt Bai later, come over after you get your certificate.”
“Ranran, there’s no need to trouble yourself.”
Bai Yiyi felt a bit guilty, considering Wen Ran already had her hands full with three kids and so much to worry about.
“It’s no trouble. After you and my brother get your certificate, it’ll be time to plan the wedding. You’re both working, so you won’t have much time, and I’m not busy at all. We can discuss your wedding plans when you come back.”
Wen Ran was more than happy to plan their wedding, far from seeing it as a hassle.
Over the phone, Bai Yiyi felt Wen Ran’s happiness, hesitated slightly, then agreed, “Alright then, we’ll come over later.”
“Okay, the kids are at school, so I’ll take this chance to visit the mall. Come back after you get your certificate.”
“What did Ranran say?”
Gu Kai casually asked when Bai Yiyi put away her phone.
A gentle smile spread over Bai Yiyi’s face, “Ranran said to have lunch at her place, she’ll organize our wedding.”
Gu Kai raised an eyebrow, unreservedly saying, “Sounds good. Aunt Bai is getting older and isn’t in good health, my mom’s not here, and we both have work. Having Ranran organize the wedding would be perfect.”
“Ah Kai, let’s first head to the cemetery later.”
As Bai Yiyi lowered her eyes upon hearing Gu Kai mention his mother, she raised them again with her smile slightly more restrained.
Gu Kai freed one hand to gently pat her head, “Alright, I’ll take you and Tongtong to visit my mom together.”
Bai Yiyi nodded, a layer of complex emotions inexplicably rising in her heart, indescribable with words. She just silently told herself that after they obtained their certificate, Gu Kai would be her closest person.
