Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1468: 1467 Wedding Gift

Chapter 1468: 1467 Wedding Gift

In the evening, at Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion, the luxurious private room on the third floor was filled with the laughter and chatter of a few children.

Gu Yan specifically canceled his evening engagements to treat Bai Yiyi’s mother to dinner.

Between Gu Kai and Bai Yiyi, though they have a daughter named Tongtong who is over two years old, they actually belong to the flash marriage group, getting their marriage certificate just a few days after dating.

Moreover, due to grievances between the two families, Gu Yan and Bai Yuqin, the two parents, had never had a meal together before.

If it weren’t for Tongtong’s existence and Ah Kai’s love for Bai Yiyi, Gu Yan would disdain dining with Bai Yuqin.

Seeing Bai Yuqin reminds him of his deceased wife…

But now that the two families are in-laws, as the head of the Gu Family, Gu Kai’s father, he must maintain proper etiquette and discuss Ah Kai and Yiyi’s wedding plans.

Gu Yan arrived relatively late, and by the time he got there, everyone else had arrived. Wen Ran, Bai Yiyi, and Bai Yuqin were watching those four little ones play.

Mo Xiuchen, Wen Jin, and Gu Kai sat on the sofa chatting, while Qin Mu went to handle engagements for Mo Xiuchen tonight.

Seeing Gu Yan come in, Gu Kai, Wen Jin, and Mo Xiuchen immediately stood up, and Gu Kai and Mo Xiuchen almost simultaneously called out, “Dad.”

Wen Jin also smiled and greeted, “Uncle Gu.”

Over there, Bai Yiyi heard Gu Kai and the others speaking and hurriedly said to Bai Yuqin, “Mom, let’s go over.”

Bai Yuqin nodded, feeling slightly nervous because the selfishness and resentment of the past caused Gu Yan to lose his wife, making facing him somewhat awkward.

Gu Kai also felt a bit uneasy, glancing at Bai Yiyi and Bai Yuqin as they walked over, and then looked up at his father.

Seeing Gu Kai’s unease, a smile appeared on Gu Yan’s face, warmly and politely greeting Bai Yuqin. Although not overly enthusiastic, everyone was satisfied with this.

“I was delayed by some matters and came late, making you all wait impatiently.”

As Gu Yan began to explain, Tongtong ran over with a group trailing behind her excitedly, shouting, “Grandpa,” as she hugged Gu Yan’s leg.

“Grandpa.”

Not to be outdone, Ziyi, Momo, and Xinxin each called out, and seeing the three of them hugging Gu Yan’s leg, Ziyi pouted and walked to his dad, looking up and saying, “Daddy, I’m hungry.”

“Dad, Aunt Bai, don’t stand on ceremony, these kids are saying they’re hungry, let’s sit down and chat while we eat.”

Mo Xiuchen bent down and gently touched Ziyi’s head, speaking up.

Everyone took their seats, naturally with Gu Yan and Bai Yuqin sitting at the head.

The atmosphere during the meal was not as awkward as Gu Kai and Bai Yiyi had feared; the presence of the little ones kept it delightful.

When discussing Gu Kai and Bai Yiyi’s wedding, Gu Yan sought Bai Yuqin’s opinion on any requirements or ideas, to which Bai Yuqin smiled and shook her head, “I have no requirements, regarding the wedding, it depends on your and Ah Kai’s wishes. I’ve no relatives or friends…”

The implication was that as long as the Gu Family’s face was maintained, it was fine.

Upon hearing this, Gu Yan turned to Gu Kai and Bai Yiyi, saying, “Ah Kai, Yiyi, since that’s the case, you two can decide amongst yourselves.”

Gu Kai smiled and said, “Dad, Aunt Bai, we’ve already discussed it, we don’t want too grand a wedding, just a ceremony at a chapel followed by a meal with family and friends.”

“Okay.”

Bai Yiyi smiled and nodded, indicating she agreed with Gu Kai’s idea.

Gu Yan glanced at Gu Kai and took a key out of his pocket, placing it on the table, “Ah Kai, Yiyi, I don’t have much to give you for your wedding, but here’s a marriage home prepared for you, ready for you to move in.”

“Dad?”

Gu Kai widened his eyes in surprise. He had no idea his dad had prepared a marriage home for him; when did this happen?

“Dad, when did you prepare this, even my brother was kept in the dark?”

Wen Ran jokingly teased, noting that Gu Kai was equally surprised.

Gu Yan smiled, “It was prepared a long time ago.”

Gu Yan hadn’t told Gu Kai because he hadn’t made up his mind. Ever since Gu Kai broke up and went abroad with Fang Zhiwei, Gu Yan had sensed that Gu Kai might have feelings for Bai Yiyi.

Who knows a son better than their father.

His own child, he somewhat understood.

“Ah Kai, take it. The decorations inside are in your preferred style. This villa is right next to where Yiyi lives now, because Tongtong’s grandmother is unwell, living closer would make caring easier.”

“Dad, thank you.”

Gu Kai was moved, a layer of moisture appeared in his eyes, surprisingly still in shock that his dad knew everything. It’s just that, being a father, not a mother, they didn’t have many heart-to-heart talks.

He knew the villa; when he was renovating Bai Yiyi’s current villa, he saw that one being worked on too, but nobody ever moved in.

Turns out, his dad prepared it for him.

Bai Yiyi was not only touched but also felt a complex emotion she couldn’t express in words. That afternoon, when Gu Kai suggested she move to his place, she was initially worried about her mother living alone there.

After hearing Gu Yan’s words, she suddenly felt that Gu Yan was a great father.

She pursed her lips, softly saying, “Dad, Ah Kai and I have already decided that I’ll move to your place.”

Though living closer to her mom, she’d be farther from him.

Bai Yiyi couldn’t bear to let Gu Yan live alone.

Upon hearing this, Bai Yuqin quickly said she’s used to living alone, asking Yiyi and Ah Kai not to stay next door to care for her, urging them to live as a family of three.

Wen Ran glanced at the keys, then at Gu Yan. In that instant, she felt her dad seemed much older, an inexplicable pang in her heart. With a smile, she playfully asked, “Dad, are you planning to retire and travel since you’re not letting my brother live at home?”

“Ranran’s idea isn’t bad, Ah Kai, now that you’ve settled down, you should take up the responsibility of Kangning Hospital. Dad, you’ve never stayed with Ranran, how about staying at our place for a while?”

Mo Xiuchen watched the change in Wen Ran’s emotions, lovingly holding her hand under the table.

Gu Yan laughed, “I wouldn’t go to Ranran’s house. Ranran and Ah Kai have settled down. If I have to stay with someone, I’d rather stay with Ah Jin.”

Although Wen Jin isn’t his son, ever since Gu Yan learned of Wen Ran’s background, he regarded Wen Jin as his own.

Upon hearing that, Wen Jin was delighted, “Uncle Gu, you’re so wise. When will you move to my place? Why don’t we pack up after dinner and head to your place. Ever since Ranran married, I’ve been living alone…”
