“Yiyi, I have some things to do. When Ah Kai returns, just have him call me.”

Gu Yan’s polite refusal successfully stopped Bai Yiyi from going to pour water.

She smiled and nodded, saying, “Okay.”

Gu Yan nodded and didn’t stay any longer. He turned and walked towards the door.

Bai Yiyi watched his back, seeing him walk away before closing the door and returning to sit on the couch.

While waiting for Gu Kai, Bai Yiyi recalled the scene she just had with Gu Yan, and his attitude towards her brought a warm feeling to her heart.

Gu Yan did not give her any cold looks because of the grudges from the previous generation. This made her feel warm and touched, and she told herself to be more filial to the elders in the future…

As soon as Gu Kai returned, Bai Yiyi told him, “Ah Kai, Dad was here earlier and said to call him when you get back.”

Gu Kai’s eyes flickered, and he looked at Bai Yiyi with a strange expression.

“Yiyi, is that how you called just now?” Gu Kai’s brows rose with a hint of a smile. The way she called him ‘Dad’ made him feel inexplicably excited and even proud.

He himself didn’t know why he felt that way. It was just Yiyi calling his dad ‘Dad’ too.

Bai Yiyi then understood that Gu Kai’s strange look was because of this. “I married you, so your dad is my dad. If I don’t call him that, should I call him Director Gu? Of course, if you’re afraid I’ll compete with you for Dad, I can stop calling him that.”

With a teasing tone, Bai Yiyi finished her sentence.

Gu Kai pretended to scowl and glared at her, reaching up to mess with her hair, “Do you think your husband is so petty?”

“A little bit like it.”

Bai Yiyi took a step back, nodding with a smile.

Gu Kai frowned, “Yiyi, if you think that way of me, you need to be punished.”

He said, stepping forward to catch Bai Yiyi, who wanted to run, but was quickly scooped into his embrace by Gu Kai’s long arms. The faint smell of disinfectant on him wafted through her, causing her heartbeat to race uncontrollably.

“Yiyi.”

Gu Kai’s long arms encircled her slim waist. He, towering above her, gazed down warmly at her slightly flushed cheeks. The breath between them lingered, fresh and elegant, captivating the heart.

His Adam’s apple bobbed sexily.

His voice suddenly became hoarse.

Bai Yiyi’s body stiffened slightly, and there was a hint of nervousness in her eyes as she met his gaze.

Even though they were officially married, they hadn’t been intimate very often. Being stared at by his fiery gaze, she felt a surge of warmth in her heart.

She knew that feeling very well.

It seemed to hold a kind of anticipation, her heart pounding wildly as the man’s handsome features drew closer and closer. Her long lashes quivered, slowly lowered, covering those watery eyes.

Afterwards, as Bai Yiyi dressed, she warned Gu Kai that if his purpose for coming to the hospital was always like this, then she would refuse to come next time.

Bai Yiyi urged without turning back. Gu Kai paused for a moment, then left without saying anything more, exiting the lounge. Moments later, the sound of the door opening and closing reached her ears.

Bai Yiyi finished dressing and stepped outside, retrieving a comb from her bag to tidy her hair.

Just as she finished combing, her phone rang.

The call was from An Lin.

Her eyes flickered as she pressed the answer button, “Hello, An Lin.”

“Yiyi, congratulations to you and Ah Kai for a lifetime of happiness and a baby on the way.”

An Lin’s cheerful voice carried a teasing tone over the line, and Bai Yiyi chuckled, “Did Ranran tell you this?”

“Yes, if Ranran hadn’t told me, I wouldn’t have known till after you had the baby.”

Bai Yiyi retorted, “Nonsense, if anyone’s going to be having a baby, it’ll be you first. You and Qin Mu got married months ago. That night we even asked Qin Mu if you weren’t returning to G City because you were resting up for the baby.”

“Who is spreading such nonsense?” An Lin feigned anger as she questioned.

Bai Yiyi giggled, “No one is spreading rumors. It’s what we all think, An Lin. Are you really pregnant?”

Otherwise, why would she not be coming along but staying alone in Imperial City?

Through the phone, Bai Yiyi couldn’t see the emotions in An Lin’s eyes, only heard her teasing, “I’m not, and if you keep saying that, I’ll tell Ah Kai that you want to be pregnant and ask him to work harder.”

“Oh my god, how can you say that?” Bai Yiyi exclaimed exaggeratedly. Seeing she was startled, An Lin laughed triumphantly over the phone, “Of course I can. Ah Kai would be eager to make you pregnant. By the way, Yiyi, you’ve got your marriage certificate. When’s the wedding?”

“You and Qin Mu haven’t had your wedding yet. Why should I rush?”

“Don’t always drag me into this. My situation is different from yours.” An Lin’s tone was inscrutable.

“Alright, alright, I won’t drag you into it. An Lin, are you asking me when I’ll have my wedding because you’re planning to return to G City? Ranran and I really miss you. Without you here, there’s much less fun.”
