Chapter 1605: 1604 didn't sleep last night

Chapter 1605: 1604 didn’t sleep last night

“She doesn’t know.”

Tang Yang paused for a moment as he glanced at the breakfast on the coffee table, “You sit on that sofa, I’m going to get some sleep.”

“Didn’t you sleep last night?”

Qin Mu frowned, his eyes searching as he looked at Tang Yang.

He hadn’t noticed earlier, but now he realized Tang Yang truly appeared very tired.

“Did you spend the whole night battling with Feng Wanfeng?”

Qin Mu received a kick from Tang Yang and moved to sit on another sofa.

“Don’t talk nonsense, I’m a gentleman. Do you think I’m like you, getting injured and your wife is pregnant, yet you can still battle all night?”

**

In the bedroom, An Lin had originally intended to sleep.

But listening to the bickering of the two men in the living room, she found herself unable to sleep.

She didn’t want to get out of bed and be teased by that guy Tang Yang, so she lay there with her eyes open.

Though she and Qin Mu had been intimate last night, it wasn’t the exaggerated all-night battle Tang Yang touted. Qin Mu was very cautious, afraid of harming the baby in her belly.

Even though she was pregnant, Qin Mu probably didn’t fully enjoy it.

Later, when he was helping her clean up, Qin Mu promised to make it up to her after she had the baby and recovered physically.

A few minutes later, it became quiet outside.

After a few more minutes, the bedroom door opened, and Qin Mu’s tall figure appeared in the doorway, silhouetted against the light looking towards the spacious bed.

He walked so quietly that An Lin didn’t hear his footsteps, and she had her eyes open.

Seeing her awake, a hint of surprise flashed in Qin Mu’s eyes, but he didn’t speak. He simply smiled and entered the bedroom, closing the door.

Striding to An Lin’s side with his long legs, he asked softly, “Why aren’t you asleep?”

An Lin smiled, “I couldn’t sleep hearing you guys talking. Has Tang Yang left?”

A moment ago An Lin had zoned out, missing what Qin Mu and Tang Yang discussed, and now seeing Qin Mu enter, she assumed Tang Yang had gone.

“No, he’s sleeping on the sofa outside.”

Qin Mu sat on the edge of the bed, reaching over to help An Lin sit up against the headboard, then fetched a pillow to support her back.

Finally, he tucked the loose strands of her hair behind her ear, performing each action naturally and skillfully.

“Are you hungry? Yang bought breakfast; I can bring it to you.”

“I haven’t washed my face or brushed my teeth yet.”

“You can wash your face and brush your teeth now, and I’ll get breakfast for you.”

Qin Mu affectionately patted her head, then stood up and left the bedroom.

In City B

Luo Haofeng was sleeping soundly, but knocking on the door interrupted him.

Annoyed from being disturbed, he ruffled his short hair at his forehead, opening his bleary eyes towards the door, and shouted irritably, “Who is it?”

“Ah Feng, it’s me.”

Mother Luo’s voice called from outside through the door.

Luo Haofeng frowned and cursed under his breath before throwing off the thin blanket, getting out of bed to open the door.

“Mom, can’t you wait until I’m awake to talk? It’s early and people need their sleep.”

Mother Luo, upon seeing Luo Haofeng’s anger, maintained a smile on her well-maintained face and followed him into the room, “Ah Feng, it’s already nine o’clock. I told you last night to get up early today, didn’t I?”

“I was dealing with business last night, so I slept late.”

Luo Haofeng approached the bed, preparing to lie back down to continue sleeping, but Mother Luo grabbed him.

He frowned, displeased as he looked at her, “Mom, is there something urgent you need to say? I’m really tired. I have things to do later.”

“What’s happening this afternoon?”

Concerned she might upset him, Mother Luo slowly loosened her grip on his arm.

Luo Haofeng plopped onto the bed, his body casually leaning against the headboard, with one leg on the bed and the other hanging halfway off the edge.

“A client is arriving on an early afternoon flight to City B; this collaboration is very important, so I decided to personally go to the airport to meet them.”

“What time in the afternoon?”

Mother Luo seemed relieved, her smile returning to her face.

She wasn’t asking for his time in the afternoon, just for the morning.

“Two o’clock.”

Luo Haofeng glanced at her beaming face, yawning as he spoke, “Mom, I need to sleep a bit more. If there’s nothing urgent, don’t wake me. Lack of sleep leads to poor spirits. How embarrassing it’d be to meet a client looking tired.”

“Ah Feng…”

“Mom, if there’s nothing for you to do, you should go for a beauty treatment or play cards. I really need to sleep now.”

Having said this, Luo Haofeng lay back on the bed, facing inward and pulled the blanket over himself.

Whatever Mother Luo had wanted to say, she swallowed it down.

She looked at the back he left to her, wondering if he knew she wanted him to meet a woman.

Claiming he had things to do in the afternoon, now saying he needed to sleep.

Yesterday afternoon, while she was having tea with Mrs. Zou in the coffee shop, they coincidentally ran into Secretary Qiao Siyi.

She wondered if that woman overheard her conversation with Mrs. Zou, learning of her intention to arrange a meeting for Ah Feng, and reported back.

“Ah Feng, did Secretary Qiao call you yesterday?”

Mother Luo hesitated for a second, trying to probe.

Luo Haofeng vaguely replied, “No.”

And then there was silence again.

Mother Luo frowned, pondering. If it wasn’t Secretary Qiao tipping him off, how did he know?

The phone rang, and Luo Haofeng let out a displeased sound. Mother Luo quickly left the room to take the call in the hallway outside, “Hello!”

“Mrs. Luo, we’re one short in our game, hurry over.”

Mother Luo frowned, her expression changed to a perfunctory smile, “Mrs. Liu, I’m busy today and can’t join you, I’ll certainly come another day.”

“Are you not coming over because you actually managed to get Mr. Luo home?”

Everyone in the circle knew about the rocky relationship between Mother Luo and her husband; this remark was half-joking and half-mocking.

Mother Luo’s expression shifted, inwardly cursing them as busybodies, but outwardly she replied, “Mr. Luo isn’t home, but my son Ah Feng is back today. It’s much more convenient to have my son around than being abroad…”

Since Mrs. Liu had chided her, Mother Luo hit back.

At their age, aside from beauty treatments and shopping, they compared husbands and sons…

In short, it’s all about competition. Mrs. Liu paused for two seconds, then responded with a disingenuous smile, “I truly envy Mrs. Luo for having such an outstanding, filial son. Well, we’ll go ahead without you then.”

“Okay, I’ll find time to join you guys.”

After exchanging pleasantries and ending the call, Mother Luo turned back and looked at the door in front of her.

Ah Feng hated matchmaking. If she directly told him, he’d surely refuse without hesitation. How could she arrange for Ah Feng and the woman to meet?

After pondering for a few minutes, Mother Luo came up with a plan. Her previously furrowed brows slowly relaxed as she glanced at the tightly closed door once more before turning to leave.
