Chapter 1621: Chapter 1620: When You Can’t Beat the Big Ones, Bully the Small Ones
Bai Xiaoxiao slept the entire afternoon.
The only regret was that she had been dreaming the whole time, an afternoon full of dreams.
Upon waking, she still clearly remembered those fragments from the dream.
She wiped away the tears at the corner of her eyes and took a deep breath: Bai Xiaoxiao, life isn’t just about love. You can’t be trapped forever because of one man.
She leaned over, picked up her phone, and turned it on.
Then she got out of bed to wash up.
When the phone rang, Bai Xiaoxiao was sitting at her vanity table, brushing her hair, with the phone right there on the table.
Seeing the caller ID, the melancholy deep in her eyes was instantly dispelled by a smile. Her lips curved upward as her slender fingers pressed the answer button, “Hey, Ranran.”
“Oh, you’re really awake. I was afraid to wake you up.”
Wen Ran’s voice came lightly through the line.
Hearing the faint sound of others laughing and talking in the background, Bai Xiaoxiao casually asked, “Ranran, where are you? It sounds lively.”
“I’m at home, come over here, An Lin and the others are all here.”
The word ‘all’ made Bai Xiaoxiao’s heart skip a beat.
Her first thought was that Luo Haofeng was also there.
“I’m not coming. I’m having dinner with my parents at home tonight.”
Bai Xiaoxiao set down the comb in her hand, her body lazily leaning back into the chair. She and that person should try to avoid meeting if possible.
“Xiaoxiao, Mo Xiuchen is personally cooking. If you miss this meal, who knows when you’ll have another chance? Let me tell you what’s on the menu…”
Wen Ran listed the dishes over the phone, and Bai Xiaoxiao could almost smell the aroma through the call.
And those dishes were all her favorites.
While abroad, Bai Xiaoxiao mostly just made do alone, rarely taking the time to cook for herself.
“Ranran, stop tempting me. My mom is surely cooking for me too.”
She hadn’t gone downstairs yet; she was just guessing.
“Okay then, since you’ve been abroad for so long, you should spend some good time with your uncle and aunt.”
Seeing Wen Ran hang up the phone, Mo Xiuchen, who was beside her, asked with concern, “Ranran, is Xiaoxiao not coming?”
“No, Xiaoxiao’s having dinner with her parents.”
Wen Ran looked up at him with an I-did-my-best expression. Mo Xiuchen smiled, raising his hand to stroke her hair, “Seems like she doesn’t want to see Ah Feng.”
Wen Ran lowered her gaze to her phone screen, her brows knit as she spoke with a hint of conflict, “I don’t even know if this is the right thing to do.”
“Ranran, we’re just trying. If Xiaoxiao and Ah Feng could become a couple, that would be wonderful. If not, there’s nothing we can do.”
Mo Xiuchen took the phone from her hand, picked up a piece of rib with chopsticks, and fed it to her, “Stop thinking about it, just try a bite.”
“Will Luo Haofeng be very upset?”
Wen Ran glanced toward the door and lowered her voice.
“Ah Feng surely knows Xiaoxiao won’t come.”
“But this tastes really good.” Taking a bite from Mo Xiuchen’s chopsticks, Wen Ran’s face immediately broke into a bright smile.
Mo Xiuchen proudly raised his eyebrows, feeding himself the rib Wen Ran had taken a bite of.
Wen Ran gave him a playful glare, “I’m going out to tell them.”
In the living room, everyone’s eyes were on Luo Haofeng and Ziyi, simply because Luo Haofeng had lost to Mo Xiuchen that afternoon.
With the mindset of not being able to beat the big, he picked on the small.
Competing in disassembling and assembling toy cars with Ziyi.
To avoid being accused of bullying, Luo Haofeng disassembled and reassembled two toy cars while Ziyi worked on one.
When Wen Ran came out of the kitchen, the big and small were both focused on the disassembled parts in front of them, with two piles in front of Luo Haofeng and many pieces before Ziyi.
Due to his small stature and short arms, Ziyi stood at the coffee table, while Luo Haofeng sat on the sofa.
“Go Ziyi, go!”
The cheerleading team, led by Tongtong, cheered, while on Luo Haofeng’s left and right sat Wen Jin, Qin Mu, and Gu Kai.
Yet, these three weren’t supporting him but occasionally distracted him, “Ah Feng, Ranran’s out.”
Wen Jin’s voice wasn’t loud, but his meaning was clear.
With other topics, Luo Haofeng could ignore them, but knowing Wen Ran had just called Bai Xiaoxiao from the kitchen…
Now that she was out, Luo Haofeng’s focus wavered, and he turned his head toward the kitchen.
Ziyi, head down, seemed not to hear them, and continued assembling the remaining parts.
“Ziyi, put them on the table, don’t hold them since your hands are small.”
Gu Kai, in his role as a concerned uncle, was more anxious than Ziyi himself, speaking as if he wanted to offer help.
Frowning slightly, Ziyi acknowledged his uncle’s advice and placed the parts on the coffee table.
Wen Jin smiled lightly at Luo Haofeng and then turned to Wen Ran, gently asking, “Ranran, what did Xiaoxiao say? Is she coming?”
Luo Haofeng glanced at Wen Jin, noticing that the little guy Ziyi had expertly assembled two parts, and he quickly refocused on the game before him.
Losing to that weirdo Mo Xiuchen in the afternoon was one thing.
If he lost to little Ziyi now, he’d be embarrassed to show up in G City again.
Wen Jin arched a handsome eyebrow, “Ah Feng, you’re competing with a two-year-old; no need to be so tense.”
Qin Mu couldn’t help but laugh, “Ah Jin, that’s not fair. Precisely because Ah Feng is competing with a two-year-old, he should be nervous. He’s already lost to Mo Xiuchen, and if he can’t even dominate that guy’s son, how embarrassing.”
“What domination, my task is doubly hard compared to Ziyi’s. This is a fair competition, right Ziyi?”
When he was a child, Luo Haofeng was skilled in playing with these things.
But it had been a long time since he did any hands-on work, and he wasn’t familiar with these toy cars.
Ziyi looked up at him with a faint ‘mmm’, then lowered his head, his hands busy.
Two seconds later, in a childish voice, “Uncle Luo, you can’t bully me.”
“I wasn’t bullying you to begin with.”
Luo Haofeng blinked innocently, defending himself.
Ziyi glanced at the parts in his hand and added, “Uncle Luo, you assembled it wrong.”
“Assembled wrong?”
Luo Haofeng furrowed his brow, pausing with a part in hand. He scrutinized his assembled piece for a few seconds, recalling how he had disassembled it earlier.
“No, it’s correct!”
His voice carried a hint of doubt, knowing that Ziyi played these toy-dismantling games frequently, Luo Haofeng suddenly wasn’t sure if he had remembered correctly.
“Wrong!”
Ziyi’s voice was childish yet remarkably confident.
Not only Luo Haofeng, but even Qin Mu, Wen Jin, and the others, all focused on the part in Luo Haofeng’s hand, unsure if it was right or wrong.
