Chapter 1877: Chapter 1876: Maybe He Already Knew
Looking at the dish in front of him, Mo Xiuchen slightly furrowed his handsome brows.
A hint of displeasure appeared on his handsome face.
Jiang Hui’s eyes flashed with a hint of tension, and she hurriedly explained, “Mo General, I…”
“I’m not used to others serving me food.”
Mo Xiuchen looked coldly at the dish in front of him, not giving Jiang Hui a chance to explain, before calling a waiter to replace the dish for him.
Watching the waiter take away the dish in front of Mo Xiuchen and replace it with a new one, Jiang Hui’s face turned a bit pale.
For a moment, she felt uncertain inside.
Unsure of Mo Xiuchen’s attitude.
Before boarding the plane, Bai Xiaoxiao had mentioned that it was the first time Mo Xiuchen had taken a woman other than Wen Ran on a business trip, suggesting he might appreciate her or perhaps she possessed something special.
Jiang Hui naturally thought it was because her face resembled Mo Xiuchen’s mother, making him treat her differently than other women.
However, Mo Xiuchen wasn’t consistently gentle with her.
Sometimes gentle, sometimes indifferent.
This made her heart constantly suspended, unable to settle.
Mo Xiuchen glanced at the new plate before leisurely picking up his chopsticks, apparently noticing Jiang Hui’s pale face only then as she looked at him in bewilderment.
His deep eyes flickered slightly, and he said blandly, “Eat.”
Jiang Hui looked at Mo Xiuchen, quietly asking, “Mo General, do you dislike me?”
“Dislike, where does that come from?”
Mo Xiuchen picked up the dish and fed it into his mouth, eating with elegance and grace.
Just as Jiang Hui thought he wouldn’t answer her, Mo Xiuchen swallowed the food and looked at her with deep eyes.
Jiang Hui touched upon Mo Xiuchen’s eyes as deep as a pool, and her heart trembled suddenly.
Instinctively pursing her lips tightly.
Mo Xiuchen merely looked at her lightly, with a keen, indifferent expression, silent for a few seconds before slowly speaking, “No, you remind me of someone.”
“Ah?”
Jiang Hui seemed puzzled.
Her eyes opened wide, “Mo General, I don’t understand.”
Mo Xiuchen’s lips curved, though not forming a smile, “I actually don’t remember her appearance anymore, it’s just when I see you, I feel you resemble her.”
Jiang Hui blinked, timidly asking, “Mo General, may I ask who you are referring to?”
“My mother.”
Mo Xiuchen responded candidly.
Jiang Hui’s heart trembled again, as if some emotion instantly flooded her heart.
She couldn’t pinpoint what kind of emotion it was, just feeling she was surrounded by this inexplicable emotion, like being covered by a net, unable to escape.
Mo Xiuchen showed no sign of sadness, grief, or even nostalgia, speaking in the tone of an unfamiliar person, briefly saying, “She jumped to her death when I was eight years old.”
“Mo General, I’m sorry.”
Jiang Hui, however, felt she had committed a grave mistake, eyes intertwined with sadness, compassion, and countless emotions.
Mo Xiuchen lowered his eyes, a hint of coldness cutting through the depths of his eyes.
Putting down his chopsticks, he stood and stated, “I have business to attend to, you eat by yourself, we’ll leave at two in the afternoon.”
Jiang Hui opened her mouth, unable to say a word.
Could only watch Mo Xiuchen’s handsome and proud figure disappear from sight.
She retracted her gaze and looked at the table full of dishes, suddenly feeling indescribably sad as Mo Xiuchen’s words echoed in her ears.
Meng Ke had instructed her to approach Mo Xiuchen, to drive a wedge between Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran, her godfather also told her to listen to Meng Ke, to ensure Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran’s relationship fell apart.
But suddenly, she didn’t want to do it anymore.
She thought of all the information and stories collected about Mo Xiuchen, whether it was his miserable childhood, his difficult youth, his lonely adulthood, and all his dedication in his relationship with Wen Ran.
All deeply moved her, and she liked him deeply.
Perhaps, few women would not be moved by Mo Xiuchen, Jiang Hui simultaneously knew, no matter what she did, she could not seduce Mo Xiuchen.
Because in Mo Xiuchen’s eyes, there wasn’t a shred of thought, even unwilling to give a trace of warmth. This was worlds apart from the passionate way Mo Xiuchen looked at Wen Ran.
Thinking of something, her breath suddenly caught.
She abruptly lifted her head, looking towards the direction of the restaurant door.
Earlier, why did Mo Xiuchen tell her she looked like his mother, and used that emotionless tone to say his mother jumped to her death when he was eight?
Jiang Hui’s grip on the chopsticks suddenly tightened, the pallor on her face deepened further.
Could Mo Xiuchen be warning her?
Had he known all along she approached him with a purpose, simply choosing not to bother?
Is it like this?
Suddenly, Jiang Hui felt chaos inside.
If Mo Xiuchen had known all along that she appeared before him deliberately, intentionally drawing close to him, how would he deal with her?

After Luo Haofeng left, Bai Xiaoxiao opened the refrigerator to see what ingredients were inside.
With nothing to do, she decided to make lunch.
Just as she was about to call Luo Haofeng, he returned.
Upon entering the living room, he smelled the fragrance of food, and seeing Bai Xiaoxiao coming out of the kitchen with a dish, Luo Haofeng’s long, romantic eyes flashed with joy, quickly approaching her.
“Xiaoxiao, why are you cooking?”
Even if she was just carrying the dish out, Luo Haofeng wouldn’t be so sure.
But Bai Xiaoxiao had an apron tied around her waist, proving she had cooked.
Bai Xiaoxiao said with a grin, “I had nothing to do, so I made two dishes, just about to call you, didn’t expect you to come back.”
“Auntie isn’t here, did she not come over?”
Luo Haofeng looked towards the kitchen, not seeing Auntie’s figure.
Bai Xiaoxiao carried the dishes to the dining room, explaining to Luo Haofeng who followed by her side, “I sent Auntie home, you quickly wash your hands to eat.”
“Okay.”
Luo Haofeng waited until she set down the dishes, pulled her into his arms and kissed her cheek, then smiled and went to wash his hands.
Touching the cheek he kissed, Bai Xiaoxiao’s expression revealed a hint of sweetness.
Two minutes later, Luo Haofeng and Bai Xiaoxiao sat at the dining table.
“How did it go when you visited Ruoyi’s family?”
Bai Xiaoxiao gave Luo Haofeng a piece of meat, asking with concern.
Luo Haofeng slightly furrowed his brows, but soon a smile appeared, while giving Bai Xiaoxiao food, answering her question, “Uncle Tian slapped Ruoyi twice, Auntie Tian was angry but somewhat softened upon learning Ruoyi was carrying Jian Yiwei’s child, and still protected her.”
Bai Xiaoxiao’s eyes showed concern, “Ruoyi being pregnant, is being slapped by her father alright?”
“I accompanied her to the hospital for a check-up, everything was fine. However, her father sternly demanded she abort the child.”
“What about Ruoyi, what is her plan?”
“Jian Yiwei has already bought a ticket to return home, what happens next is uncertain.”
