Chapter 1917: 1916: Still Too Green to Challenge Me

Chapter 1917: Chapter 1916: Still Too Green to Challenge Me

As soon as Mo Xiuchen finished speaking, Wen Ran’s voice came from the bedroom, carrying a hint of joy, “Ziyi, come in.”

Hearing this, Ziyi, who was depressed a second ago, suddenly lit up, his little face bursting into a bright smile, provocatively looking at Mo Xiuchen, “Dad, mom asked me to go in.”

Even if you stop me, it won’t matter, Ziyi didn’t dare to say this out loud.

But it was clearly written on his handsome little face. Mo Xiuchen glanced at him lightly, then turned and walked towards Wen Ran.

Ziyi ran past Mo Xiuchen, rushing first into Wen Ran’s embrace as she got off the bed, shouting in a childish voice, “Mom, good morning.”

Wen Ran smiled as she gently patted Ziyi’s head, softly asking, “Do you have something to tell mom?”

Compared to Mo Xiuchen, who was always serious with Ziyi, Wen Ran was truly a model of a loving mother.

Ziyi blinked, then turned to Mo Xiuchen, “Dad, can you go downstairs first? I want to talk to mom alone.”

Mo Xiuchen’s face turned dark. This little brat, he didn’t believe he had anything to say that needed Wen Ran alone. This little guy was always trying to compete with him for Wen Ran.

Luckily, there was only one son. If Momo and Xin Xin were also boys, wouldn’t he be in trouble?

Wen Ran looked at her son, then at her husband; one with an innocent smile, the other with a sullen handsome face.

She held back her laughter and softly said, “Xiuchen, you go downstairs and eat breakfast first. Ziyi and I will be down shortly.”

With Wen Ran speaking, Mo Xiuchen had no choice but to go downstairs first.

“Ziyi, now you can tell me what you wanted to say.”

Listening to the footsteps leaving outside the door, Wen Ran gently asked her son.

Ziyi smiled ingratiatingly, “Mom, can you stay with us today instead of dad?”

By “us,” he meant himself, Momo, and Xin Xin.

Wen Ran’s heart softened as she lovingly stroked his head, “Didn’t you say you’re a little man now, Ziyi? Why do you still need mom to accompany you?”

“Even little men have moms.”

Ziyi pouted, looking extremely aggrieved.

Wen Ran looked at her son, amused and tender-hearted, “How about this, you can play with your sister today. You rode horses all day yesterday and didn’t have time to see your sister. Today, I’m allowing you to keep your sister company for the whole day, as long as you’re home by 8 PM.”

“But isn’t mom staying with us?”

Wen Ran patiently explained, “It’s not that mom isn’t staying with you; it’s just that mom has to go to the hospital later.”

“Mom, are you not feeling well? Did riding horses with dad yesterday tire you out?”

Yesterday afternoon, dad didn’t let mom take them along, saying it would tire mom out. But now that mom said she has to go to the hospital, she must be worn out by dad.

Wen Ran burst out laughing, “Mom’s not feeling unwell, I’m just accompanying your godmother to the hospital. She needs to get checked.”

Ziyi was a sensible child. Hearing that mom was going to accompany his godmother for a check-up, he was immediately relieved and didn’t pester her to stay with them anymore.

He even obediently said, “Then mom, you go accompany godmother. I will not only take care of my sister but also look after Momo and Xinxin.”

Wen Ran took Ziyi downstairs, and he immediately shared the good news with Mo Xiuchen, saying that mom allowed them to spend the day with their sister.

Mo Xiuchen slightly frowned, lowering his voice, “Didn’t dad tell you last night, today is for practicing the basics?”

Wen Ran was stunned, looking at Mo Xiuchen in confusion, “Does Ziyi have lessons today?”

Ziyi’s gaze flickered, “Mom gave me a holiday.”

“I told him last night to continue practicing the basics today.”

Mo Xiuchen held Wen Ran’s hand and walked to the sofa, gently explaining.

“Dad, I practice from Monday to Friday, and I already practiced half an hour last night.”

Wen Ran looked puzzled at the father and son; she seemed unaware of these things.

Last night, Mo Xiuchen told Ziyi to go to bed on his own, and after a little while, he went upstairs and then came down to tell her that all three kids were obediently asleep.

Seeing Mo Xiuchen with a stern face, Ziyi continued to appeal to his mother, “Mom agreed, as long as I’m back by 8 PM.”

Mo Xiuchen snorted lightly.

It seems Ziyi wanted to talk to Wen Ran alone just for this.

Wen Ran turned back to see Ziyi looking pitifully at her, so she tried negotiating with Mo Xiuchen, “Xiuchen, since Ziyi already practiced last night, why not let him go find Qingqing today?”

The son is so young; Wen Ran didn’t want him to be too stressed.

Actually, Ziyi doesn’t get much playtime; Mo Xiuchen had scheduled a lot for him.

Mo Xiuchen always complied with Wen Ran’s words and agreed without even thinking, “Alright, since Ranran said he has a day off, then he gets a day off, but he must be home by 8 PM and has to take care of Momo and Xinxin.”

“Ziyi will definitely do it.”

Though he was pitiful just a moment ago, Ziyi’s face immediately beamed with a confident smile.

After all, he was just a child, and playing was very appealing to him.

Mo Xiuchen watched his son’s brilliant grin and slowly added, “Make up the work you missed today, tomorrow.”

Then he was satisfied to see the smile on his son’s face freeze, displeasure flashing in those beautiful eyes.

Mo Xiuchen raised an eyebrow indifferently; still too naive to contend with him.

“Ranran, let’s go have breakfast. After breakfast, I’ll accompany you to the hospital.”

Since their daughters were left with Ziyi, Wen Ran was his alone today.

Ziyi watched his dad lead his mom to the dining room, inwardly muttering that his sly, crafty, and scheming dad would one day lose mom to him.

Poor child, even getting close to his own mom was such a challenge.

When Wen Ran and Mo Xiuchen arrived at Kangning Hospital, Bai Xiaoxiao and Mother Bai were already there.

They were waiting for her and hadn’t gone to the obstetrics and gynecology department yet.

“Xiuchen, go find my brother first. We’ll meet you later,” Wen Ran instructed by the side of Mo Xiuchen.

Mo Xiuchen nodded, speaking softly, “I’ll head to Ah Kai’s office first. Call me if you need anything.”

This sentence was a requisite reminder when Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran parted.

Wen Ran habitually nodded, telling Mother Bai and Bai Xiaoxiao, “Aunt Qiao, Xiaoxiao, let’s go.”

When Mo Xiuchen stepped out of the elevator on his way to Gu Kai’s Office, he pulled out his phone and dialed Luo Haofeng’s number.

After a few rings, Luo Haofeng’s voice came through the phone, “Hey, Xiuchen.”

“Where are you now?”

Mo Xiuchen asked lightly, and in front of him, the office door opened as Gu Kai walked out.

Seeing Mo Xiuchen approaching, Gu Kai’s eyes showed a hint of surprise. He leaned his tall figure against the wall, hands in pockets, lazily looking at him.
