Chapter 1951: 1950: Our Daughter
Chapter 1951: Chapter 1950: Our Daughter
At nine o’clock in the evening
After hours of pain, Bai Xiaoxiao finally safely gave birth to the child.
A baby girl weighing over five pounds.
Upon hearing the baby’s first cry, Bai Xiaoxiao fainted from exhaustion.
Luo Haofeng, who was by her side, was startled and panicked, shouting, “Doctor, Xiaoxiao has fainted.”
“Don’t worry, she’s just too tired.”
The doctor checked Bai Xiaoxiao and calmly reassured Luo Haofeng.
Only then did Luo Haofeng let out a long breath, still worried as he looked at Bai Xiaoxiao’s sweat-drenched face, and asked, “Is she really okay?”
“I think you’re not much better off than she is. You should go out and rest; we’ll bring her to the ward soon.”
The doctor glanced at Luo Haofeng, who looked tense with a pale face.
He had stood there for hours; the doctor wasn’t blind and couldn’t ignore his limping leg.
“No need, I’ll accompany Xiaoxiao to the ward in a bit.”
Luo Haofeng shook his head, having endured for those few hours, he didn’t mind waiting a few more minutes.
“When Xiaoxiao comes out, can she eat?”
“If she’s awake, you can give her something to eat.”
After waiting a while longer, Luo Haofeng followed two nurses to wheel Bai Xiaoxiao out of the delivery room, while Mother Bai and Mr. Bai had already gone to the ward with the nurse carrying the baby.
Back in the ward, Luo Haofeng didn’t let the nurse lift Bai Xiaoxiao onto the hospital bed; he bent down, picked her up, and gently placed her on the bed.
As Bai Xiaoxiao’s body was laid on the bed, she slowly opened her eyes.
Instead of a white ceiling, what met her eyes were a pair of gentle and passionate eyes, with warm and familiar breaths brushing against her nose.
Her heart skipped a beat unexpectedly.
She stared blankly at Luo Haofeng’s handsome face, which was so close, not knowing where she was for a moment.
Luo Haofeng also seemed surprised that she woke up at that moment. Their eyes met, and the atmosphere became subtle in an instant.
His gaze shifted, something rolled deep in his eyes, and his thin lips instinctively pursed, a touch of tender affection appearing on the corners of his lips, “Xiaoxiao, are you hungry? Want to eat something?”
As he spoke, the breath on Bai Xiaoxiao’s face became even warmer.
Bai Xiaoxiao’s gaze flickered as she lowered her head, avoiding his passionate eyes, “Where’s the baby?”
“Xiaoxiao, the baby is here.”
Beside them, Mother Bai cheerfully chimed in. She stepped forward, and Bai Xiaoxiao saw her holding the baby in swaddling clothes.
Luo Haofeng also looked up at the daughter in Mother Bai’s arms.
Earlier in the delivery room, he was too worried about Bai Xiaoxiao to see what their daughter looked like.
“Auntie, let me hold her.”
Seeing Bai Xiaoxiao gazing tenderly at the baby in her arms, Luo Haofeng immediately reached out, wanting to take his daughter.
Mother Bai hesitated slightly when she saw Luo Haofeng’s extended hand.
“Xiuyun, let Xiao Luo hold her, you go get some food for Xiaoxiao, she must be starving,” Mr. Bai gently encouraged when he saw Mother Bai reluctant to hand over the granddaughter.
Upon hearing this, Mother Bai immediately gave the baby to Luo Haofeng, reminding Xiaoxiao not to hold the baby herself, as she was too weak after giving birth and couldn’t exert herself.
Only then did she leave the ward.
Mr. Bai also followed Mother Bai out of the ward.
Wen Ran saw both Mr. and Mrs. Bai leave, gave Luo Haofeng a knowing look, and also exited.
In the ward, only Luo Haofeng, Bai Xiaoxiao, and the baby they shared remained.
The little baby was asleep with her eyes closed, unaware that she was in her daddy’s arms.
Luo Haofeng had previously held the children of Mo Xiuchen, Gu Kai, Qin Mu, and others, so he wasn’t inexperienced with newborns; it was just that his excitement made him extra cautious.
Holding the baby, Luo Haofeng sat carefully on the edge of the bed, tilting her towards Bai Xiaoxiao.
“Xiaoxiao, this is our daughter.”
Gentle love was written all over Luo Haofeng’s handsome brow, “Look, our daughter’s eyes and mouth resemble yours.”
“Really? I can’t tell; she looks so ugly.”
Bai Xiaoxiao frowned, looking at the baby in his arms.
A newborn baby couldn’t be very pretty, especially since their daughter came out twenty days early.
Luo Haofeng chuckled softly, “Babies always look this way when they’re just born. When Ziyi and Momo were born, they were just like our daughter. She’ll become prettier in a while.”
As if hearing their conversation, the little baby’s long eyelashes fluttered while her eyes remained closed.
Her left eye slowly opened a slit.
Seeing this, Bai Xiaoxiao beamed with joy, gently holding the baby’s tiny hand, softly saying, “Baby, I’m mommy.”
Perhaps due to maternal instincts, though the baby hadn’t seen her mother’s face, she heard her mother’s voice every day.
The eye, which had only opened a slit, opened up a bit more, curiously gazing at Bai Xiaoxiao, without bursting into tears.
Luo Haofeng smiled at the scene, his heart filled with warmth and emotion.
He imitated Bai Xiaoxiao’s gentle tone, “Baby, I’m daddy.”
The little baby continued staring at Bai Xiaoxiao, unaffected by Luo Haofeng’s words, as if she hadn’t heard him at all.
Luo Haofeng turned her to face him, repeating, “Baby, I’m daddy.”
The familiar mother was replaced with an unfamiliar face, coupled with a strange voice, and the little baby suddenly began to cry loudly.
“Baby, don’t cry, give her to me.”
“No way, you can’t hold her right now.” Luo Haofeng, startled by the baby’s cries, was flustered, but he remembered that Xiaoxiao had just given birth, and was very weak now.
“It’s okay, let me have her.”
Like all mothers, Bai Xiaoxiao’s heart ached instantly at her daughter’s cries.
She frowned, anxious as she watched Luo Haofeng, who didn’t know how to soothe a child.
Just then, the door to the ward opened, Wen Ran’s voice came, “Why is the baby crying? Here, let me hold her.”
She strode forward and took the baby from Luo Haofeng’s arms.
Following her were Bai Yiyi and An Lin.
“Haofeng, Mo Xiuchen and Ah Mu are outside; you should go out, we’ll stay with Xiaoxiao.”
An Lin gave Luo Haofeng a hint, telling him that Mo Xiuchen and the others were looking for him outside.
Luo Haofeng turned to Bai Xiaoxiao on the bed, softly saying, “Xiaoxiao, I’ll step out for a moment,” before turning away and leaving the ward.
After being soothed by Wen Ran for two minutes, the baby stopped crying, and she sat on the edge of the bed holding the baby, while An Lin and Bai Yiyi stood by her side, bent over.
They each commented, “This child’s eyes and mouth are like Xiaoxiao’s.”
“The nose looks more like Haofeng’s.”
“Xiaoxiao, you’ve worked hard!” Wen Ran said softly, looking at the frail Bai Xiaoxiao.
