Chapter 2205: Chapter 9: Aren’t You Going to Take Care of Her?

“…”

The atmosphere in the room suddenly became tense and stagnant.

Qin Qingqing forgot to struggle and stared at the man’s handsome, sculpted brow and eyes in front of her.

Her ears echoed with his words: “Am I not a man, haven’t you known for four years?”

The area around her heart suddenly began to hurt intensely.

As a result, her small face, flushed with anger, turned pale from that pain.

Mo Ziye dialed the phone in her pale, shocked, and resentful expression.

A few seconds later, a crisp female voice came from the phone, “Ziyi, what’s up?”

Mo Ziye’s dark gaze faded, and he said to the person on the other end of the phone, “Tongtong, can you come to the Qin Family? Qingqing has a fever.”

Qin Qingqing was awakened by his voice.

Her waist was still tightly held by him.

Her body was pressed closely against his.

Their breaths were intertwined.

Yet, in such an ambiguous posture, her heart could not stir any sense of ambiguity—only a cold chill.

She remained motionless, no longer struggling.

Even though the phone didn’t have the speaker on, being so close she could hear Gu Zhitong asking with concern, “Huh, didn’t Qingqing return to A City? Where are you now?”

“Are you dumb from looking at patients? I’m at the Qin Family. Hurry up.”

After Mo Ziye finished speaking, he hung up on Gu Zhitong’s retort at the other end of the phone.

He glanced at Qin Qingqing’s still pale face, his thin lips lightly parted, releasing her.

He turned and entered the bathroom.

Qin Qingqing’s thoughts were somewhat muddled.

Combined with the headache, she did not stop Mo Ziye from entering the bathroom but stood dazed in front of the bed, lost in thought.

Two minutes later, when Mo Ziye came out of the bathroom, he was carrying a half basin of water.

“Lie on the bed.”

He ordered Qin Qingqing, placing the basin of water on the floor.

Seeing Qin Qingqing still standing motionless, his expression turned darker, but his words, though stiff, were patient, “Lie down; before Tongtong arrives, let’s do a cold compress first.”

After saying this, he squatted down, picked up the towel from the water basin, and wrung it out.

Qin Qingqing lay back on the bed, and when he reached out with the towel, she reached for it, “I’ll do it myself.”

“Lie down.”

Mo Ziye’s voice carried a trace of anger.

It seemed as if if she were disobedient again, he would explode, but his next words painfully tugged at Qin Qingqing’s heart.

“When you had a fever as a child, why did you have no sense like this? Every time you needed not only me to cool you down but also to be by your side.”

Qin Qingqing’s hand froze momentarily.

When the towel was applied to her forehead, she let her hand down.

Mo Ziye hadn’t taken care of her for four years now, yet he was remarkably skilled at such things.

He could even gauge the approximate temperature of her high fever just by the degree of heat on her forehead.

“Sister Tongtong will arrive soon; if you have something to do, go ahead.”

Two minutes later, Qin Qingqing raised her hand to touch the towel on her forehead, intending to flip it over, but her hand was caught and pulled away by Mo Ziye.

He flipped the towel over for her.

Just as he was about to grab a chair to sit down, his phone rang.

Before Qin Qingqing, he pressed the answer button with his long finger and spoke indifferently, “Hello!”

“Ziyi, do you have time tonight? Let’s go together to…”

“No time tonight; find your friend to see it with you.”

He took the call standing by her bed. Qin Qingqing recognized it as Shi Xi’s voice but couldn’t hear what she said.

Mo Ziye declined her.

Qin Qingqing, lying bored, casually glanced at the man on the phone.

His keen senses detected her gaze, and he immediately turned his head to look at her.

His gaze paused on her face for a second, then he spoke blandly, “When your new movie plays, I’ll make time to watch it.”

Qin Qingqing lowered her eyes, retracting her gaze.

When Gu Zhitong was led upstairs by the servant, Mo Ziye was smoking in the hallway.

“Ziyi, where is Qingqing? You hung up without explaining…”

“She’s in the room. You should go in.”

Mo Ziye tossed the half-smoked cigarette in his hand, taking steps to go downstairs.

But Gu Zhitong caught hold of his sleeve on the way up. “Where are you going?”

“I’m going home.”

“Qingqing has a fever; aren’t you going to take care of her?” Gu Zhitong smiled at him.

“With you here, Doctor Gu, I don’t need to.”

Mo Ziye squinted slightly at Gu Zhitong’s smiling face, raised his hand, and removed her hand.

“Ziyi, I have many patients in the hospital; I don’t have the time to stay and take care of Qingqing. Besides, no one is better at taking care of Qingqing than you.”

“She’s also a patient.”

“I’m an OB/GYN. If it weren’t for your call, I wouldn’t have come here.”

Gu Zhitong raised her eyebrows; Qin Qingqing had a cold, not a gynecological issue.

Mo Ziye’s face turned cool, pondering something as he frowned and instructed her, “She’s still feverish; don’t dawdle, go treat her.”

“Then you…”

“I’ll go downstairs and ask the auntie to make some porridge for her.”

He had heard from the auntie that Qin Qingqing went upstairs to sleep right after returning at noon.

She hadn’t had lunch.

And he knew Qin Qingqing well; she’s spoiled and can’t eat airplane food.

Gu Zhitong laughed again; as long as he didn’t leave, it didn’t matter if he was upstairs or downstairs.

She waved her hand at him, “Then hurry and make food for Qingqing; I’ll go check her fever level—if it’s severe, she’ll need the hospital, otherwise, she’ll get brain damage…”

The rest of the words were swallowed back in the face of a certain man’s cold gaze.

In the room, Qin Qingqing came out of the bathroom as Gu Zhitong pushed the door open and entered.

“Qingqing, why did you get out of bed? Ziyi said you have a fever —lie back down, and I’ll check your temperature.”

“Sister Tongtong, I’ve already checked it.”

Gu Zhitong glanced at the thermometer on the small table by the bed and measured it again, smiling, “Only thirty-eight degrees, you won’t get brain damage.”

“Lie down; take your medicine first; I’ll do some massage for you later.”

“Okay.”

Qin Qingqing obediently lay back on the bed, Gu Zhitong poured water and gave her the medicine.

Then she pulled over a chair to sit by the bed, letting Qin Qingqing extend her hand.

While massaging, she chatted, “Ziyi sounded so scary on the phone just now; I thought you were seriously ill.”

“Sorry to trouble you, Sister Tongtong…” Qin Qingqing felt somewhat apologetic.

“Speaking so formally to me, I just think Ziyi’s calm demeanor completely breaks down when he’s around you. Qingqing, did you come back alone? Didn’t Uncle Qin come back with you?”

Seeing Qingqing’s expression slightly change at the mention of Ziyi, Gu Zhitong quickly smiled and changed the topic.

Qin Qingqing shook her head, saying gloomily, “Dad probably won’t come back anytime soon; he’s staying with Grandpa, Grandma, and Grandpa and Grandma.”

“Haha, Uncle Qin has transferred all the company shares to you, and now he has complete freedom. I heard you’re going to take Uncle Qin’s place at the company?”
