Chapter 2206: Chapter 10: No Interest in Entangling with Exes
“Sister Tongtong, who did you hear this from?”
Qin Qingqing looked at Gu Zhitong amused.
Gu Zhitong smiled to cover up, “I forgot who I heard it from, but now that you’re a major shareholder of Haochen, you should take up a position.”
Gu Zhitong heard this from her father, Gu Kai, a couple of days ago.
Because she wanted to take a leave to rest, and Gu Kai wouldn’t approve it. She said that Qingqing went abroad for four years, and now that she’s back, Uncle Qin didn’t pressure her to work and even gave her shares so she could live like a spoiled brat forever.
But she couldn’t even get a day off.
Gu Kai glared at her with a smile at the time and said, “Do you really think Qingqing can just be idle forever? She’s back this time to work at Haochen. If you’re tired of being a doctor, I can talk to Ziye and arrange for you to work at Haochen too…”
Qin Qingqing looked at Gu Zhitong’s smile and nonchalant words.
Her lips gently pressed together, a trace of doubt flashing across her heart.
She felt Gu Zhitong wouldn’t ask such things without reason.
“Qingqing, if you don’t go work at Haochen, what’s your plan?”
Gu Zhitong smiled again under her gaze.
Qin Qingqing did not inquire where she heard the news from, and replied with a smile, “I plan to open a studio myself. These years abroad, I was studying and gaining some experience.”
“You were in the same school as Zinan before; did he date any foreign girls?”
Gu Zhitong switched the topic, focusing on her brother now.
Her seemingly casual words carried a hint of probing and implied meaning.
As she asked this, her eyes were fixed on Qin Qingqing.
Years ago, her brother Gu Zinan went abroad with Qingqing, but this time, only she returned.
Qin Qingqing did not attend the welcome party the night she returned, heading back to A City with her dad the second day.
Strictly speaking, Gu Zhitong met her formally today.
Upon hearing her mention Gu Zinan, Qin Qingqing replied casually, “Many foreign girls pursued Zinan; whether he dated them or not, I wouldn’t know.”
“He definitely wouldn’t dare.”
Gu Zhitong laughed again as she spoke.
After giving Qin Qingqing a massage for nearly half an hour, Gu Zhitong measured her temperature again.
“It’s gone down! Qingqing, do you still feel uncomfortable?”
Gu Zhitong asked with concern.
Qin Qingqing smiled, “I feel much better now. Sister Tongtong, your massage skills are truly improving. I feel it’s way more effective than meds.”
“Haha, though I know these words are exaggerated, I still like hearing them. Rest a bit more, I think another half hour and your fever will be completely gone.”
Gu Zhitong stood up and added, “Let Ziye give you another massage tonight, he knows all the acupuncture points. I still have patients at the hospital, so I can’t stay with you, but I’ll visit you when I have a day off, and we’ll go shopping.”
“Sister Tongtong, I’ve memorized the acupuncture points and techniques you used earlier, I can do it myself.”
Qin Qingqing’s words drew a reproachful laugh from Gu Zhitong, “Even doctors can’t treat themselves, your own skills wouldn’t match Ziye’s massage, be it techniques or points, he’s skilled.”
After reminding her twice more, Gu Zhitong left the room guided by Qin Qingqing.
She wanted to escort her downstairs, but was stopped by Gu Zhitong.
Watching Gu Zhitong descend the stairs, Qin Qingqing lay back in bed again.
Even though Gu Zhitong said the medicine she gave didn’t induce sleep, Qin Qingqing still felt sleepy.
If it weren’t for Mo Ziye waking her, she felt she could sleep till the next morning.
Looking at the man standing in front of her with his handsome, cold features, Qin Qingqing raised her hand to rub her eyes and glanced out the window.
“Why are you here again?”
She sat up, squinting instinctively against the bright lights.
“Drink the porridge.”
Mo Ziye’s handsome face darkened at her words.
Suppressing his inner displeasure, he picked up the porridge from the small table and handed it to her.
Only then did Qin Qingqing smell the aroma. As she touched the porridge he held, the last bit of sleep in her eyes was replaced by an unusual emotion.
She looked up and met the deep eyes of the person beside her hospital bed.
“You, didn’t leave?”
She had been by his side for eighteen years, and he had taken care of her for eighteen years.
Their familiarity was as deep as that of partners.
Seeing the porridge alone, she knew without tasting that he made it.
Mo Ziye’s otherwise cold and stern expression softened slightly, whether because she recognized his cooking at a glance, or because of her surprise then complex emotions in her eyes.
“Did Tongtong tell you I left?”
“Sister Tongtong didn’t tell me that.”
“Then why did you think I left?”
Mo Ziye raised a corner of his handsome brow as he sat in the chair where Gu Zhitong had just sat.
Seeing Qin Qingqing had not taken the porridge.
He no longer extended it, but withdrew his hand, took a spoon, scooped some porridge, blew it twice, and fed it to her, “I just measured your temperature, the fever’s completely gone.”
“I’ll eat myself.”
Qin Qingqing looked at the porridge brought to her lips.
Her gaze faltered.
The expression on her small face was somewhat unnatural, she stated and reached out her hand.
But Mo Ziye no longer wished to talk to her, he dodged her outstretched hand, speaking lightly, “You don’t need to fear anything, I’m not in the habit of playing both sides and have no interest in entangling with an ex.”
The atmosphere suddenly became awkward.
Qin Qingqing’s face paled in response to his words.
He mocked her for overthinking.
Also hinted that he had a girlfriend now, and wouldn’t have any thoughts about her, his ex-girlfriend.
After a moment, she suddenly laughed.
The smile was faint, like this season, carrying a hint of chill, “It’s exactly because Brother Ziye already has a girlfriend that I can’t let you take care of me, can’t let Shi Xi misunderstand. Thank you, Brother Ziye, for the porridge you cooked, you can leave now.”
Mo Ziye’s face remained stoic, he looked deeply into her eyes.
Not speaking.
In the stagnant atmosphere, Qin Qingqing’s hand was stubbornly outstretched.
Not snatching the bowl and spoon from him.
But patiently waiting for him to give it to her.
If he didn’t give it to her, she wouldn’t eat.
After a while, Mo Ziye let out a sneer.
He placed the spoon inside the bowl, “You’re right, Shi Xi knows we once had a relationship, she is somewhat wary of you.”
He handed her the bowl, kicked aside the chair, and stood up, his tall, slender figure towering over her bed.
Looking down at her like a lofty king.
“You eat it yourself; I left Shi Xi at the airport this afternoon, tonight I have to compensate by having dinner with her. If you get another fever, go to the hospital for a checkup, don’t damage your brain.”
“I will, Brother Ziye, take care.”
Qin Qingqing bit her lip, responding calmly.
She didn’t argue when he insulted her by suggesting brain damage.
She pressed her lips together, swallowing a spoonful of porridge; the long-lost familiar taste instantly filled her stomach and heart.
In front of the bed, a flicker of light passed through Mo Ziye’s eyes, he turned, and strode out of her room.
