Chapter 2472: Chapter 276:

"Let go of me."

Momo angrily yanked out the hand he was holding.

"Sit here and eat."

The man glanced at her expressionlessly, released her hand, picked up the chopsticks and shoved them into her hand.

Momo wanted to get away from him, and that put him in a very bad mood.

Momo glared at him, then took a deep breath, forcing down the anger in her chest, and took the chopsticks, not very willingly.

"Why didn’t you ask the maid to blow-dry your hair for you?"

"I don’t like other people touching my hair."

Momo picked up a strand of noodles and fed it into her mouth, then looked up at him in slight surprise. "You really made this?"

"Does it taste bad?"

Yin Shao lifted his brows slightly, countering instead of answering as he looked at her.

Momo smacked her lips. "It tastes pretty good. Didn’t expect you could cook."

"There’s nothing I can’t do. I’m no worse than Ye Zhan."

"..."

Momo stopped talking and focused on finishing the bowl of noodles. He sat beside her without speaking either, just quietly watching her.

For once, the air between them was free of gunpowder.

Taking the tissue Yin Shao handed over, Momo silently wiped her mouth. She turned her head, her watery eyes meeting his deep, dark gaze.

She pressed her lips together, and a cold, even voice slipped from her red lips. "Even if I die, you still won’t let me go, will you."

The calm gentleness in Yin Shao’s eyes shattered for an instant, a fine crack appearing; his handsome face darkened a shade. "Correct."

He had originally wanted to say, he wouldn’t let her die.

But thinking of all the tricks she’d pulled these days to escape, the words changed by the time they reached his mouth.

He watched the anger slowly surface on the pretty face in front of him, and his gaze sank further.

With her in his hands, the idea of her running was impossible.

But that was all he could guarantee.

If she truly wanted to die, even if he personally watched her around the clock, twenty-four hours a day, she would probably still find a chance.

The anger on Momo’s face faded, and a smile slowly surfaced. That smile lit up her starry eyes, making her already beautiful features even more alluring and coldly enchanting.

"Then let’s talk terms."

"Dry your hair first."

Yin Shao pulled her over to the vanity, pressed her down onto the chair, plugged in the hair dryer and started blow-drying her hair for her.

"I’ll do it myself."

"You can choose: either I blow-dry your hair, or you sleep with me tonight."

The man’s long, jointed hand had already caught a strand of her damp hair. His gaze was heavy as he watched the shifting expressions on the girl’s face in the mirror.

A thin layer of warmth settled in his eyes.

Always so easily stirred by her, he felt that every side of her drew his eyes, that every side of her was so adorable.

He felt he’d gone off the deep end. In nearly thirty years of life, he’d never had such soft feelings for any woman.

Yet he couldn’t forget Momo after a single encounter, to the point that he had to have her.

Momo’s body went rigid, unable to stop Yin Shao from blow-drying her hair. She was a bit annoyed at herself for not drying it first just now.

The unfamiliar warmth of the man’s fingers would occasionally brush her scalp; her stiff body never relaxed the whole time, every pore tense and on guard.

It felt as long as a century.

The noise of the hair dryer finally stopped.

His breath brushed past her ear. He picked up the comb from the vanity and went back to work.

Another minute passed, and her long black hair hung smooth and straight down her back. He even combed the bangs on her forehead neatly before finally setting the comb down and letting her go.

"Momo, you’re really beautiful."

Yin Shao looked at the girl sitting upright in the mirror. Even though her brows and eyes were cool and her expression stiff, it didn’t diminish her beauty.

It was different from the vividness when she was angry, and different from the cold glamour when she smiled. Right now she was calm and serene; for a moment, a soft sense of "all’s well with the world" rose in his chest.

Momo’s fine brows drew together, a trace of mockery breaking the calm serenity on her face. She stood up and stepped back two paces to put a safe distance between them.

Then she looked at him, eyes indifferent.

"What do you want to talk to me about?"

Yin Shao took the initiative to speak.

Momo met his deep gaze and said coolly, "You won’t see my parents before the wedding, and you refuse to let me leave. But I can’t just marry you for nothing either."

"Momo, have you forgotten that you’re doing this to save Ye Zhan?"

"You also said you’d help me cut off all ties with him. So by that logic, he and I have nothing to do with each other anymore, and there’s no need for me to sacrifice my life for him."

At that, he suddenly laughed.

"Momo, you’re a host, your way with words is too good—I can’t win against you."

Momo’s expression stiffened slightly.

"You’re the host, I can’t win against you." Ye Zhan had once said the same thing.

Yin Shao seemed to sense that she was distracted because of another man. The smile at the corner of his lips sharpened and sank into his eyes.

His gloomy voice dragged her thoughts back. "So what is it you want?"

Momo blinked, the corners of her mouth lifting in a mocking arc. "If you won’t meet my parents, then at least help me get my revenge."

"Revenge?"

Yin Shao raised an eyebrow, the corner of his mouth unconsciously curving up. His smile wasn’t mocking like hers, but carried a hint of amusement. "You want me to wipe myself out?"

"No."

Momo frowned.

She shot him a cold sideways look and turned to sit down on the sofa.

Yin Shao stood by the vanity, watching her sit down on the other sofa. He lowered his eyes slightly, then took long strides over.

"Sit opposite me."

"Okay."

He actually sat on the sofa across from her instead of beside her.

"My enemies are Shi Dongping and Ji Congxiang."

Before he could ask who her enemies were, Momo spoke up on her own in a flat tone. Her watery eyes seemed covered with a thin layer of ice, glinting with cold light.

His gaze flickered, and his tall body sank back into the sofa, his probing eyes falling on Momo’s delicate little face.

"What did they do to you?"

"You don’t know? Ji Anyun had someone drug me and wanted to destroy my purity. If she’d succeeded last time, you wouldn’t be seeing me now. As for Shi Dongping, he killed my Aunt An. You help me take care of those two."

"You want me to wipe them out?"

After listening to Momo, he didn’t look especially surprised.

"What’s the point of killing them? I want their crimes exposed to the world so everyone knows what kind of scum they are."

"Momo, are you trying to avenge Ye Zhan?"

"I’m avenging myself. If you don’t want to do it, forget it. You can stop me from running, but you can’t stop me from ending my life."

Momo’s words carried a chilly mockery, with no hint that she cared about her own life, as if she were talking about someone else’s death.

Anger rose in his eyes, but he forced it back down quickly.

He watched Momo get up and walk into the bathroom. The door was shut with a casual swing, and the sound of the lock sliding home slipped into his ears.

He let out a cold laugh, pulled out his phone, and dialed a number.
