Gathering Wives with a System

Chapter 710: Flirtatious Couple, Pleasant Night

Chapter 710: Flirtatious Couple, Pleasant Night

"Well, I.... ordered it. I would’ve loved to make something, but you know." He chuckled bitterly. "Anyway, I was the one who planned everything. So I think that should still count."

Alice shook her head with a small smile at his answer. It was quite rare to show so many emotions so openly. She allowed him to lead her toward the private dining area connected to the place he had prepared. The room was quiet and comfortable, with a large table arranged for two, soft lighting, and enough space around them to make the entire place feel private without looking overly decorated.

However, what caught Alice’s attention most was the food. Almost every dish on the table was something she liked, including several meals she regularly chose whenever they ate together, along with her favorite dessert and a drink she usually ordered when Isaac gave her the choice.

Alice stopped beside the table and looked over everything in silence. After a moment, she turned toward Isaac with a quiet expression that showed how much the effort had affected her.

"You remembered all of these?" she asked.

"Of course I did," Isaac answered with mock-offense.

Alice looked at him for several seconds before quietly sitting down. She placed her newly ringed hand on the table and stared at it again, and although she did not say anything, Isaac could tell that she was still trying to get used to the fact that he had finally proposed to her.

It was completely different from before, when he had only asked her to be his. This time, it was about marriage, something much more serious and meaningful because it was an official confirmation that they would become husband and wife.

Moreover, knowing Alice as well as he did, Isaac could almost guarantee that she had always wanted to marry him. She had simply never said anything because she did not want to pressure him or make him feel as though he had to make that decision before he was ready.

The two of them finished dinner without rushing, taking their time as they talked about everything that had happened during the day. Alice seemed noticeably more relaxed than usual, and every now and then her eyes would drift toward the ring on her finger before she quietly smiled to herself.

After they finished eating, Isaac suggested that they take a walk and look at the night view before returning. Alice agreed without hesitation, and the two of them eventually found a quiet place overlooking the city, where the lights stretched into the distance and the noise from the busier areas had faded considerably.

Alice sat beside him and gradually leaned against his shoulder, making herself comfortable as they watched the view together. Her tail slowly curled around Isaac’s waist, resting there naturally as though it had always belonged in that position, while Isaac placed an arm around her and pulled her slightly closer.

Neither of them felt the need to fill every moment with conversation, so they simply remained there for a while and enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. There was something comfortable about sitting together like this after everything they had been through, especially now that Isaac knew he would soon be able to make Alice his wife officially.

Eventually, their conversation drifted toward the past, and they began recalling some of the ridiculous situations they had found themselves in. Isaac brought up a few embarrassing moments from their earlier adventures, while Alice calmly pointed out several things he had done that he had apparently hoped she had forgotten.

"You really remember all of that?" Alice asked, giving him a suspicious look as she rested her head against his shoulder. "I thought you would have forgotten most of those things by now."

"Of course I remember. You think I would forget the time you insisted you weren’t scared and then held onto me for the entire night? You were getting nightmares during those days because of master’s training," Isaac replied with a smile.

"I wasn’t scared. I simply didn’t want you to be alone, since there were too many dangerous awakeners in Selene’s Trail," Alice said calmly, although the slight movement of her ears made it clear that she knew exactly which incident he was talking about.

Isaac laughed when he heard that excuse and shook his head.

Alice looked away and muttered something that Isaac couldn’t quite hear, refusing to acknowledge the obvious flaw in her explanation. Isaac decided not to press her further because he knew that if he kept teasing her, she would eventually find a way to embarrass him in return.

Their conversation continued like that for quite some time, moving between old memories, small arguments they had long since forgotten about, and moments when they had quietly helped each other without saying much. Sometimes they flirted, and Alice occasionally teased him about things he had done, and Isaac returned the favor whenever he found an opportunity, until both of them were smiling more often than they realized.

Isaac gradually noticed that his emotions were becoming more difficult to control. It wasn’t because Alice was doing anything particularly different from what she normally did when they were alone, but because every little thing she did tonight seemed more noticeable to him than usual.

Alice intertwined her fingers with his and gently rubbed the back of his hand with her thumb. Every so often, she would look at him with a small smirk after saying something meant to annoy him, and Isaac found himself staring at her for longer than he intended.

His heart was pounding harder than it should have been. He had spent countless days with Alice, and he had already become accustomed to the small gestures she made whenever they were alone together, but seeing her act the same way while wearing that genuine smile was somehow much more difficult for him to handle.

Alice noticed his expression and tilted her head slightly. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Nothing. I was just thinking that you’re different tonight," Isaac replied, although the answer was obviously not convincing. He looked away for a moment before adding.

Alice considered his words for a moment before quietly smiling again. "Maybe I’m just happy."

That simple yet beautiful smile somehow made Isaac’s heart beat even faster. He looked at her for a moment before deciding not to say anything else, because he had a feeling that if he did, he would only make himself more nervous.

They remained together for another few minutes, with Alice resting against him as her tail stayed wrapped around his waist. Then she suddenly lifted her head and looked at him with an expression that seemed unusually curious.

"Show your tail," Alice said softly as she looked at him.

"What?" Isaac turned toward her with a confused expression.

"Your dragon tail. I know you can control it and make it disappear or appear whenever you want, so show it to me," Alice explained, her voice remaining gentle.

Isaac raised an eyebrow as he noticed the way Alice was looking at him. Her expression was calm, but there was an almost expectant look in her eyes that reminded him of a curious puppy waiting for him to give her something she wanted.

"Why do you want to see it? Is there something you’re trying to check?" he asked, genuinely curious about her reason.

"I want to know how you’re feeling. Our tails are always honest," Alice answered simply. Her eyes remained fixed on him as though she considered the request completely reasonable.

Isaac gave her a teasing smile. "Just that? We don’t need my tail for you to know how I’m feeling."

Before Alice could respond, Isaac smoothly wrapped an arm around her waist and lifted her from beside him. He placed her on his lap and adjusted her position until she was sitting comfortably against him. She could feel how he was down there, which made her stiff for a moment before she slowly relaxed.

Alice’s ears had turned noticeably red, although she tried to pretend that nothing had happened. Isaac noticed her reaction and leaned closer, clearly enjoying the fact that he had managed to catch her off guard.

"See, it is easy to tell how I’m feeling," Isaac said quietly near her ear, deliberately teasing her.

Alice’s face became even redder as she understood what he meant. She tried to maintain her usual composure, but the way she avoided looking directly at him made it obvious that his little trick had worked.

"You are becoming more and more shameless by the day," Alice said, trying to retort despite her embarrassment. Her voice remained calm, but there was a faint hint of amusement behind it.

Isaac chuckled and tightened his arm around her waist. "That’s your fault. If I have such a beautiful wife, it’s only normal that I can’t control myself."

Alice stared at him for a moment before looking away, her cheeks still warm.
