Chapter 1488: Clone
Chapter 1488: Clone
Sylas stood in silence for a long while, trying to organize his thoughts. He knew that the ttle girl had heard all of this, but her reaction was still much the same. She seemed to be processing things much the same way he was.
it was the scent of blood that finally awakened Sylas from his thoughts. The King Serpent had an enormous hole in its body, and after being forced into subservience by Sylas, it wasn't given the chance to heal itself.
Now, its life was fading away and it seemed like it might die any moment now.
“You are a clone from what I can tell. Where is your original body?" Sylas asked.
“I have no way of knowing that, master."
“Is it alive?"
“I... believe so. But if I am still alive now, I hope master understands that it has been many millennia since this version of myself was trapped within these walls. Master would have had no chance of defeating the me of back then, and you would certainly not have the slightest chance now."
Sylas was neither offended nor did he refute.
This was a mere clone, and an F-tier version of it at that, but it was capable of boosting its strength to this extent. If not for his Perfect Spark Mastery and the battlefield they were on, Sylas wouldn't have stood a chance, let alone the fact this World Serpent's body was originally of the D-tier.
It would be foolish to even try. This World Serpent was likely the equivalent of an S- Grade Race genius. If not for the fact it was a clone, it was impossible for Sylas to defeat it even if it had been in the F-tier.
"How much more powerful was your main body at the F-tier than this one is?" Sylas asked.
Pride flickered in the World Serpent's eyes.
"My stats are the same, master. My power, though, is a completely different matter. I believe if it was my true body here as an infant of the F-tier, master would be unable to even approach me."
“Even in an F-Grade world like this one?" Sylas asked.
“I think master already knows the answer to that question.”
Sylas didn't ask questions he knew the answer to, he wasn't a child, nor did he need his ego stroked by outsiders. He asked because he wanted a clearer image of the memories in the World Serpent's mind, and it was clear to understand at that point.
The Seeing Thorn was feared for its ability to devour worlds, covering it over hundreds, to even thousands of years and making it its own.
A World Serpent was thousands of times more dangerous than a Seeing Thorn could ever hope to be.
A baby World Serpent could already refine an entire world unto itself. That was one even including C and B-Grade Runes—something Sylas couldn't even fathom doing right now. In fact, this was likely the reason the King Serpent's main body had been punished in this way in the first place. It had likely gained a Demerit for devouring worlds it shouldn't have, ending up with a clone here as recompense.
“I understand. You can be on your way now."
The pride of the King Serpent was the last thing to fade, even outlasting the life in its eyes.
it went limp amongst Sylas' chains and finally fel to silence.
A howl suddenly filled the air as the Hollow Wing appeared. Its body flashed and with a single flap, it tore through the King Serpent's body, seemingly phasing right through it and out of its tail in a single go.
When it appeared on the other side, it didn't have the slightest hint of blood on it, but its roars split the skies nonetheless.
[Your Combat Mount is evolving from F-tier to E-tier]
Sylas' gaze flickered before he waved a hand, putting the Hollow Wing back into the Hibernation Realm. However long this evolution was supposed to take, he bet it would only take a few seconds in there. Though, it was unfortunate since he would be unlikely to be able to use the Hollow Wing in this Dungeon anymore.
This Dungeon had a limit of Level 50, so once the Hollow Wing reached Level 51, it would be rejected.
Sylas wasn't thinking about any of this right now, though. Instead, he was focused on something else entirely.
The King Serpent dropped to the ground and Sylas slowly pressed his palms together. The chains of the Scorned Wraps shook and shot out, dancing with the bandages in a uniform rhythm as they all wrapped around the King Serpent.
Beads of sweat pooled down Sylas' brow. This was the longest distance he had ever tried to extend the Scorned Wraps.
“What are you doing?! Do you know how dangerous that is—2!"
Sylas tuned her out. She had already warned him back in the Milky Way Galaxy that the main purpose of the Scored Wraps was to avoid detection and break the system's rules. The longer you extended them, the more diluted this power became, the more Will you needed to sustain it, and the higher the likelihood of the system detecting and smiting you in reply.
Not long ago, the system had wiped out an entire Demi-God Clan, and from the King Serpent's story, it would want nothing more than to smite the entire Madness Lineage out of existence as well.
If it was enraged, there was no running for Sylas.
But he already knew this.
Even so, Sylas had two things that were to his advantage.
First, he had already deduced that this Tower of Champions was a remnant of the Legendary System that the current system had commandeered for its own purposes. That meant that it was more used to rules being bent and twisted here than anywhere else. After all, it was compromising itself by using such a remnant.
And second, he was Sylas Grimblade. He knew exactly what he was doing and didn't need someone waiting to stab him in the back to teach him.
BOOM.
The aura of the corpse suddenly skyrocketed into the E-tier.
