Chapter 1490 Sacred

Chapter 1490 Sacred

Sylas' movements were practically on autopilot. Every movement he made was as smooth as butter, focused on a sense of understanding that was even beyond him. There was a part of him that didn't want to have to rely so much on the system to accomplish what he was now, but he wasn't a fool. He would never allow his own personal pride to get in the way of the obvious decision.

Not only was his Vipermancy Profession of the E-Grade, it was a Legendary Profession formed of a fusion of three Legendary Paths that perfectly synergized with one another. His own personal intelligence was completely unable to match up to such a thing. However, deep in the crevices of his own mind, buried within his own personal indifference, he was already dreaming of the day he stood beyond the system—the day where he could elevate his Contracts beyond what even the system itself could help them reach.

This system could subdue even Sacred Beasts with ease. In fact, it was thanks to the system that he had been able to forge a Sacred Combat Mount of his own.

One day he, too, would be capable of such a thing.

Time blurred and his focus phased into space. He embodied the world and the world folded to his Will

He could practically feel every hidden nook and cranny of Gogo's body. It was like he had entered a state of Total Merge once again, his soul and Gogo's becoming one. But this time, there was no true Fusion taking place.

Sylas simply innately understood every step to take.

But at the same time as he was doing this, Sylas' mind was also free to deduce, to understand, to grasp certain truths and slot them into a different space of his mind.

As he did so, a picture began to form—a plan for how he would keep his promise to his wife.

Once before, Sylas had already forged a shocking method, one capable of redefining his Foundation, elevating him to a status that made it seem as though he had always been born a member of a D-Grade Race rather than a mere F-Grade Human who was elevated to this status after the fact.

However, due to Cassarae, he hadn't thought of that method since.

And honestly speaking, that method had its own flaws. He wouldn't so easily stumble into Demons with foundations as powerful as the Duchess. If he wanted to, he would have to take the risk to cross into the Demon World, and that was a danger in itself. Tʜe sourcᴇ of thɪs content ɪs n͟o͟v͟e͟l͟f͟i͟r͟e͟.net

Sylas had felt the danger of the Demon World once before, that day in what was once his own personal territory on Earth. A gate had opened and Earth was almost swallowed whole by an invasion he just managed to stop.

Of course, Sylas had felt that this was only natural at the time. How could it be easy to do something so impossible?

But... now that he was abandoning it, he had a chance to make it better.

The words that the little girl had spoken about the Reaper Sealwright were like a whispering echo in his ears.

There was a chance here to do the impossible. So long as he could get his hands on that Profession, with what he was seeing now, he felt that he might just have a chance to flip everything on its head.

He would never need to betray Cassarae again.

BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.

Sylas' eyes suddenly and forcefully regained focus. He looked out onto the world as the last of the Genes and blood flowed into Gogo's shuddering body.

Slapping his palms together, he sealed it all within, his Will thrumming with the pressure of what felt like a thousand worlds.

And then, he pushed Gogo into the Hibernation Realm before he fell to a knee, gasping for breath.

The Runes of the world seemed to respond to Sylas' fatigue, large amounts of wind flowing into his mouth and causing his lungs to bulge with the sheer waves of oxygen. By the third breath, he had already fully recovered his breath. However, the weight on his mind was still heavy.

Yet, even that didn't last very long as his [Maddened Enlightenment] upgrade started to display its true might. He only needed to sit in meditation for a few seconds before the color began to return to his face. After just a handful of minutes, his mind was already brimming with what almost felt like vitality.

[King Serpent's Fortress Cleared]

[Rewards]

[King Serpent's Ancestral Call]

Sylas' eyes flashed when he saw this reward. He didn't need a description at all. Yet, he still asked the little girl a question.

"What is a Sacred Beast? Why does the appearance of this ranking seem so random? Until now, Legendary has seemed like the pinnacle.”

"Sacred Beasts are Legendary Beasts, they're just a different sub-category," she said after eating her fill. "Beasts are different than Humanoids. Well... sort of.

“Even if two people are born into the same Race, they will have vastly different levels of talent. Although very rare, it is possible for someone with a B-Grade Race to be born with greater talent than someone born in an A-Grade Race—in a comparison of the best of the former and the worst of the latter, of course.

“This is basically something that can be understood naturally and is quite obvious.

“For Beasts, though, this is even more exaggerated. Even if one is born to a Legendary lineage, you could end up like your Basilisk companion here, not having the slightest hint of power it should. For a Gold Beast, it's impossibly weak.

"A Gold Basilisk should be able to destroy even A-Grade geniuses it comes across, but I'm sure you know better than anyone it is not capable of that.

“The title of Sacred for a Beast represents a Beast that is at its utmost potential, not limited by Gene Locks, Ancestral restrictions, or talent."
