Chapter 1523 Or [Bonus]

Three of the four top Warlords of the Sanctum appeared.

The disciples below couldn't help but look between Sylas and them, then back again.

It felt like ever since Sylas appeared, this had been happening over and over again. Before, seeing even one of the lesser 713th Warlords was an impossible task. Usually, only direct disciples could see them from time to time, and even then it wasn't all that ikely.

Unlike Gralith, these experts tended to take a lot of disciples in and didn't have the time to give all of them the perfect amount of attention they needed unless they proved themselves.

The Serpent, Lion, Ape, and Whale Lineage Heads were a bit more selective than the others, but because they were so difficult to please in terms of the complexities of their Armors, they were rare to appear as well.

Now, it felt like every time Sylas appeared, they appeared. Not only this, but their conflicts somehow always seemed to surround him.

The words Prione spoke made them recall the huge clash between the Ossarans and the Bat Lineage. Or, more accurately, the Ossarans and the Kaelthar.

That matter had led to an enormous falling out. The Bat Lineage had been expelled from their 073 Sanctum and forced to return the resources they had taken.

At the same time, they had made enemies of a Sanctum that was almost 10 ranks above them nonetheless.

However, Sylas' plan had been airtight. While the Lion Lineage Head was enraged right now, it wasn't because he understood Sylas' plan from back then. It was instead because he needed an excuse to force Sylas to hand over the Lion Lineage Legacy he had in his possession.

That was the irony of it all.

He was blaming Sylas for something that was ironically Sylas' fault, but the second layer of irony was that he didn't actually believe Sylas was fully responsible for it, even if he was.

It was a defense that was almost too perfect. Prione didn't even believe what he was saying; he was just using it as a pretext. And because of that, it would be even less likely for him to believe that Sylas was, in fact, the reason for everything that happened back then.

The three things Sylas had gained from that scheme... the Lineages, the expulsion of the Bat Lineage, and evidence of the Tiger Lineage's betrayal, all remained in his back pocket.

"Do not speak to me of stopping, Erethea. There must be an accounting for what happened back then, unless you believe disciples should be allowed to run amok and do as they please, even at the cost of the lives of their fellow brothers and sisters."

“You are speaking nonsense," Erethea said coolly. "There is no evidence for what you speak of, and you're beginning to have a chilling effect on the disciples. Sylas is also an invaluable member of our Sanctum. What do you mean by doing all of this?"

“Invaluable? He's an F-tier. At most, he can help us secure good placing in one Tier, maybe two with his talent, but that won't change anything. He'll be too powerful by the next cycle to change anything.

"One person can't turn the tides of an entire Sanctum, so you shouldn't let one person dictate so much."

There was some logic to Prione's words. As an F-tier, maybe Sylas was powerful enough to single-handedly get them into the top 20. The problem with going any higher than the top 20 was that not only was there a large leap every few placements at that level, but the 018 Sanctum that had Authrione didn't just have one of him.

There were tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of disciples that were at least 80% of what Authrione was, not to mention dozens to hundreds that were around the same level.

By the time you got into the top ten, all of them were stronger in number and strength than Authrione.

The fact that Prione was even speaking of Sylas helping in the E-tier at all, given how much larger the leap to that level was, could already be considered him acknowledging Sylas.

As for the D-tier, that was a joke.

Brione was the best of their 073, and he had stats in the millions already. It had to be remembered that the best of their E-tiers only had stats in the five figures, yet Authrione, an F-tier, had stats in the six figures.

How much stronger would the E-tiers of those in the top 20 be?

it was impossible to expect Sylas to carry them through all of that.

And if they waited for Sylas to grow, then what?

He would become a powerful C-tier, sure. But not to mention the fact there was no guarantee he'd be able to maintain this same gap between himself and others of their Sector—becoming a C-tier would mean he couldn't help with the lower Tiers.

All of that was to say that Sylas would probably have the greatest impact he could have on the Sanctum tournament right this moment, and yet even that impact wasn't great enough to make the entire Sanctum bend to his Will like everyone seemed to want to. Erethea paused, clearly understanding Prione's meaning. The idea of putting their Lineage in danger didn't sit well with her either. But they had set the parameters themselves—they couldn't just backtrack now because they felt like it. What would that say to the other disciples?

They had already done all they could to suppress Sylas. Since he came out on top anyway, if they continued, it would be like they were actively trying to suppress one of their own.

And to what end?

Prione's logic expected too much anyway. Why speak of top 20 placement? Though the rewards were worth salivating over, usually even a movement of a few places upward was enough to celebrate.

And that was something Sylas could definitely get them.

Why target him over something like this?

However, that was when Prione dropped a bomb that left Erethea’s pupils constricting. “The Emperor Sanctum contacted me just a few days ago. They have detected unauthorized usage of our Lineages by those unaffiliated with the Sanctum.

“It's either we handle it, or they will."
