Chapter 1524 Too Broad
Chapter 1524 Too Broad
It wasn't a surprise in the slightest. The Lineages—even the Warlord ones—were the property of the Emperor Sanctum. They couldn't allow them to be so casually handed out.
If Genes had protections on them, how could a Lineage of this caliber not? After all, they had the chance to present people with Gold and even Legendary Genes for mastering them.
It was just that the Seals on these Lineages were far more complex and harder to implement. And, since they weren't family but instead members of the same organization, the restrictions also had to be looser by design. It was a necessary step. However... that didn't mean that the Lineage couldn't sense unauthorized usage.
If it was Sylas alone using them, it wouldn't make much of a difference. However, Sylas had broken these unspoken rules of the Sanctum not just once, but twice.
First, he modified the Scorpion Warlord Armor to allow Cassarae her own quasi Serpent Warlord Armor. It was a feat that Sylas was actually quite disgusted with right now, as he felt he could do so much better—especially since he had the real Serpent Warlord Armor Lineage with him now.
And second was, of course, Nosphaleen.
It had been a long while since the first thing happened, and Sylas hadn't gotten dinged for it. But the moment he did the same with the Whale Warlord Armor, Prione was supposedly contacted?
There were two possible explanations for this.
The first was the most obvious. The protections on their stronger Lineages would likewise be stronger. They were more interested in protecting the Whale Lineage than the Scorpion Lineage. Plus, Sylas had heavily modified the Scorpion Lineage Armor, so the aura might not have been too clear, making it more difficult to detect.
But then there was the second possibility.
Have I been found out? Sylas wondered, his gaze flickering.
The second possibility was that he had been reported.
The trouble was that reporting something like this wasn't so simple. If it was, Prione would have done it himself to get his Lineage back.
Just having the Lineages wasn't a crime, neither was Sylas using them. If it was, the Warlords would have never agreed to give them to him in the first place.
This path implied that someone was monitoring him well enough to sense him breaking the rules and then pass the information on to others.
But the implications of such a thing were so deep and hard to decipher that Sylas almost wanted to dismiss it outright.
The only reason he didn't was because whoever the mastermind behind the Purvon Thryskai Clan was, was an intellect maybe on par with his own.
If Sylas could find their tail, then was it really so impossible for them to find his own? Sylas stood in silence for a long while.
This enemy was one that he would have preferred to keep in the dark for as long as possible. However, if they found out that he was a Primus Luminaria... even if they hadn't been paying attention to him before, they would certainly begin to now.
That was because they would be more aware than anyone else that Sylas was the greatest threat to their free reign over the Sanctum. Meaning... A murderous intent suddenly spread from Sylas. He flipped his palm, and the badge he had been looking at before he stepped foot into the hub appeared again.
It felt as though the skies were overturning, rumbling emerald lightning coming from nowhere.
Brione's expression changed, and he took a strong step backward, his body reaching a state of high alert instantly.
Sylas didn't feel like an F-tier right now. He felt like he was monster incarnate.
The badge that Sylas had in his hand right now was the one that allowed him to modify his status screen to connect with Cassarae's. Through it, they were able to communicate as though through social media.
It didn't work while within Dungeons, and it was a bit finicky while out-of-Sector, but now that he had been outside of one, contacting her should have been a breeze.
Before Sylas left for the Tower of Champions, he had given Cassarae a few tasks to complete, and as far as he was aware, she should be more than able to handle them.
At first, he felt that it was possible she was still handling it. After all, they had originally planned to return much later. Earth would finish its evolution in a little over two months’ time now, and Sylas only planned to return a week or two before then.
The fact that she would still be handling that task wasn't impossible, and there was a possibility that she would reach a region communication didn't work in. So, he hadn't been too worried earlier.
But now, everything had changed.
“What's been going on in the Milky Way Sector while I've been gone? Has anything big happened?’
Sylas directly asked the Madness Key. Since he could afford it, why not pay for anything he needed? With a push of his intention, several Legendary Genes formed within the Madness Key's space which, by now, had grown to be as ridiculously large and expansive as a world.
"Even you can't afford such a huge scope of information—not unless you spend years paying. A single question costs 10 Legendary Genes now. You'll have to be more specific.”
Because Sylas had touched onto a Taboo on purpose, his cost went up. If it had cost a few Bronze Genes, doing it would have been easy. But now that his cost had scaled up... Sylas didn't have the time to be enraged. Everything was 20/20 in hindsight. What he needed now was to focus on what questions exactly to ask.
Asking about the Petals of the Seeing Thorn was too broad. Asking for Cassarae's name specifically would likely also be a waste of time. If there was such a thing, Gralith would have already alerted him about it. Plus, the task he had given her was more covert. Sylas' eyes danced, his aura becoming more and more murderous until a crown of blinding gold appeared on his head, blinding those around him.
"Fowler Leava," Sylas suddenly said, his voice so frosty Runes of Ice responded spontaneously, freezing the region around him into blocks of ice.
The former Primus Luminaria of the Sector.
“All information related to him in the last month. Now."
