Chapter 1707 Layered Plan

"Shit."

That was the first and last word Analei got the chance to see. None of them were a part of the Quicktime Event, but they were still alerted nonetheless.

A Karmic Chaos Event Type was something they couldn't ignore even if they wanted to. It essentially meant that whether Sylas won or lost would dictate at least the next decade. And if the gap was substantial enough that the Seeing Eye Guild could truly capitalize, they might open up a gap the Weaver Guild wouldn't recover from for at least two or three centuries.

The last time the Weaver Guild had been caught in such an event was precisely the reason for their status today. For Sylas to go and trigger something like that on his own... Fanelei had no idea how he had even done it. Something like that would have required...

"Insane. He's insane."

Fanelei began pacing back and forth.

Truthfully, there were only two things that were required for a Quicktime Event to occur. The first was that the system desired a certain outcome and wanted to force a confrontation. That part of the equation was easy enough for Sylas to fulfill because the two Guilds had been brewing up the perfect concoction for him for generations.

This was part of the reason Fanelei could never go into Seeing Eye Guild territory without facing danger. They would immediately think that she was trying to set them up for something bad.

The more powerful you were, and the more important you were to an organization, the easier it was to do something like this.

Though Sylas was a Legacy Disciple, he was still only an F-tier without particularly strong ties to the Weaver Guild... or rather, he wouldn't have had such strong ties if not for Fanelei and her actions inadvertently tying him more heavily to her Analei Ancestral Grounds than she had expected or wanted.

Even so, for Sylas to trigger something like this, he would have had to still do something completely and utterly insane.

If Analei only had to step into Seeing Eye Guild territory, Sylas would have had to...

He went to their headquarters...

Analei didn't know whether to laugh or cry. And the moment she felt her Analei family grounds rumbling, she knew she wouldn't be able to escape.

Before, the other Ancestors were only really playfully probing. While they were curious about her actions, they knew that all Ancestors and Legends of Fanelei's caliber had their bottom lines. If they probed too much, she would be infuriated and then they would offend her for a reward they weren't even sure was coming.

But now was different.

Now they were all involved.

Let alone just the outsider Ancestors, the Analei would be on her tail more than all the others combined.

As though to breathe these thoughts into existence, she sensed an eruption from below, and one after another, elite A-tiers of the Analei made their presences known.

The silhouettes were counted by the dozen, but one of them was particularly small.

As Sylas had speculated... Malikhi likewise arrived.

This matter was too important for usual etiquette. Even he wanted to know exactly what was going on.

Fanelei sighed. At the end of the day, this was all her fault for being a madwoman. Now she had chained herself to a man who was even more mad.

The sudden Quicktime Event shook the fabric of Karma far and wide. The Mesh of Reality was already quite fragile due to the fall of a Thryskai Demi-God Clan-for this to suddenly be happening now was huge.

Fanelei was so engrossed by the first layer of shock that she had yet to think through things as deeply as Sylas had, and she likely wouldn't get the opportunity to do so until she had finished being hounded by questions.

The opening left by the Thryskai technically could be filled by anyone, and the group of people most likely to do so were... none other than the Quasi Demi-God organizations.

All of them knew better than to try this. Even Sylas had, supposedly.

But what happened when one crazy disciple headed and potentially tilted the balance of everything?

Now, if something like that happened... theoretically speaking, of course, it just might force the hand of a certain Purvon Clan young heir to do something to make sure nothing went too awry, now wouldn't it?

Standing at a window overlooking an expansive city, this very young heir couldn't help but chuckle.

If Sylas had been there, he would have recognized this city as the very same city he was in right this moment.

But Sylas didn't need to be there, because from the very start, he had known that this very young man would be there. All it had taken was one talk with the Purvon A-tier, and this young master of the Purvon had put all the rest together himself.

"Ah, Sylas, Sylas, Sylas, you're intent on making me work for it, aren't you?"

A sigh left his lips, but his eyes... they were shining with humor and just the faintest hint of battle intent.

For the first time in a long time, the sliver of wrinkled skin on his forehead was just barely showing signs of bleeding out with a shockingly bright light

In another location, a man dressed in a heavy cloak, weathered hands that seemed atrophied by cold, blisters, and eczema, sat on a stone.

"Sylas... Grimblade..." a gruff voice said softly.

He didn't seem to understand why this name sounded so very familiar and yet so very foreign to him.

"Hunger..."

Then he realized. He really wanted to eat this name. No, not this name, but the person who went by this name.

Yes... he really, really wanted to eat him.

And there was only one sort of person he felt this sort of ravaging hunger for.

A grumble that sounded like the low growl of a beast the size of a mountain echoed through the wilderness.

It was the man's stomach.

"Gluttony Disciple..." the gruff voice replied softly, his voice washed away by the rumble of his belly.
