Chapter 1706 Karmic Chaos
Chapter 1706 Karmic Chaos
Sylas hardly reacted when he saw the Quicktime Event activate. He had expected about as much, and it was part of his calculations.
The situations that would trigger a Quicktime Event were quite finite, especially when one was talking about an organization as well-established and long-standing as the Seeing Eye Guild.
If one was on a Summoned World, the variation, opportunities, and general chaos were so much greater. As such, there were more trigger points for the system to catch and hold onto.
However, organizations like the Seeing Eye Guild did their best to stop this from ever happening. Chaos and instability were the worst things for an established organization, because that meant they had fewer chances to spend improving and growing while dealing with these matters.
As one might imagine, though, the system didn't like this very much at all. It didn't care about long-standing empires keeping a grip on power and lasting into perpetuity-at least not if it was at the expense of something potentially far more powerful coming down the pipeline.
The system was there to fuel and push evolution. It took hold of the most fundamental laws of the universe and turned them up a million times.
Unfortunately, the impotent system was also too easily manipulated. When a power like the Seeing Eye Guild successfully established itself, it controlled every aspect, micro-managing even the smallest of details.
If they could have gotten away with more than just skipping their Profession Quests, they would have certainly done it. But the fact they even could just went to show how much power these Quasi Demi-God organizations had over the system.
And if they had this much power, one could only imagine how much power true Demi-God and even God Clans and organizations would have.
This aside, there were only so very few ways to tip this in favor of himself. Luckily for Sylas, he had quite the large card to play... That being that he had become a Legacy Disciple of the Weaver Guild.
It could be said that a large part of the reason the Weaver Guild and the Seeing Eye Guild were constantly at odds wasn't just because they had fundamentally different outlooks on how to progress and improve-it was also because the system was constantly trying to find ways to make them fight over resources.
Triggering Quests, Quicktime Events, drawing up Dungeons, and things of the like were common occurrences the further one got from the core of their power and began to blend into the periphery territory they both shared.
Due to this, their clashing was inevitable.
So what would happen if a Legacy Disciple came to the core of the Seeing Eye Guild in secret, and for the first time in history, made an attempt to join?
As Sylas expected, there was simply no way the system would pass up on such an opportunity. Even if his intent wasn't to cause chaos-which it certainly was-the system would react much the same way nonetheless.
A death toll rang through the skies.
[Quicktime Event Triggered]
[Clash of Titans]
[Level Recommended: 50]
[Description: Legacy Disciple Sylas Grimblade of Legend Fanelei of the Analei Clan has snuck into your territory, seeking to test the geniuses of the Seeing Eye Guild. He believes himself to be greater-superior in all aspects. Doctrines of Will and Intelligence don't seem to differ to him at all. Even inexperienced in the way of the Seeing Eye and lacking your Profession, he seeks a challenge nonetheless.
To say that the Karma and face of the Seeing Eye Guild is on the line would be nothing but the sheer core and definition of an understatement. Stop him from trampling over the pride of your Guild.
To kill him would be too straightforward and only a sign of your weakness and inferiority. It may very well trigger a war between Guilds that would engulf countless Horizons. Crush his spirit first-or watch him crush yours.] [Event Type: Karmic Chaos]
[Clear Requirements:]
[Defeat Sylas Grimblade]
Sylas looked at the description quite calmly, even as a pillar of gold engulfed him and a pinging arrow lit up above his head. It seemed like that moment against the Woodland Spider Queen all over again, but this time rather than being chased by F-tiers of a mere D-grade Race, he was right in the middle of a territory filled with people with dozens, if not hundreds, of A-tiers in their rolodex of elites.
The odds were stacked quite high against him, and yet the beating of his heart and the soothing flow of his blood seemed to paint a completely different picture.
He was ready.
The guard's eyes widened. Never did he expect that he would be in the middle of such a thing.
The ping spread far and wide, countless members of the Seeing Eye Guild all turning in the very same direction.
Aether blew and whistled through the air, forming in thick currents that ran denser than harsh winds. Even Sylas felt like he might lose his footing at any moment.
There were too many people here who could kill him with a single glance, and every one of them had been alerted to the fact that he was an enemy.
In the not-too-far-off distance, Salivar had been walking toward the Seeing Eye Guild with his two shadows following behind him.
'Hm?' He blinked for a moment at the notification.
Quite frankly, he could count on a single hand the number of times he had been roped into a Quicktime Event. His life could be said to be too stable.
'Level 50?'
Salivar almost instantly lost interest after seeing this, but then he perked up again for the shortest of moments.
'An F-tier came here to stir up trouble? I kind of like the balls on this guy. Sylas Grimblade, is it...? Legend Fanelei? Wasn't she the one who...?'
Salivar's eyes narrowed.
Something told him that this matter wasn't as simple as he thought.
As he was reacting, though, so too were all the others.
