Chapter 2200: Death
Chapter 2200: Death
Sylas bent down, sinking his hand into the sand. There was a flicker in his gaze as he felt the heated coarseness. It wasn't just a normal dryness. It was like… 'Death.'
A death energy radiated from the entire planet, and even the weight of the Demi-God Plane was somewhat weaker here. It was like everything was just… dulled.
He could feel a sadness echoing from the planet, almost like it was a man bleeding out on his knees. Sylas could almost see the image of the man breathing his last, his family members, his wife, his children, his parents, having gone ahead before him.
Sylas' thumb moved over the Legacy of Key badge.
The illusion was so clear to the point it projected from his mind, forming lines of truth. And then the world began to change. Water bubbled up from the sand, the coarse ground became lush and bright, the clear skies began to gain large, fluffy white clouds… It was all nothing but an illusion, a projection of what the world had once been, but it still felt so real nonetheless… because it had once been exactly that.
But no longer.
Someone, something, or some ones and some things had caused this.
'A powerful Race, indeed. But a devastating one. Why is Elara so interested in this place, though?'
The ability to drain a world was interesting, but even if Sylas managed to gain something great from its Legacy, it was still a dead world.
Elara also didn't understand the details of how Legacy of the Key worked either, so the Legacy shouldn't be why she had directed them to choose this place.
'Peculiar.'
Sylas had always felt that his sister was intelligent, but her methods of thought and his own were very different. Not all forms of intelligence were the same.
But as devious as his sister was, she wouldn't use something like this to pull a practical joke.
Sylas stood to his feet.
If the answer wasn't obvious in the world itself, then it should become clearer when he met the natives of this world.
But… he had a feeling that the current ruling race weren't natives at all. Otherwise, this world wouldn't be in this state.
Chi.
A whistling filled the air.

Sylas didn't react much to the notification. He thought that there might be some differences to note with the system, but it looked the system had no real difference at all.
At least if there was one, it wasn't yet obvious.
Maybe it was a bit reckless to try and face off against an entire planet of warriors the moment he stepped into the Demi-God Plane. This was certainly not the mortal plane any longer and his nigh invincibility there didn't transfer here.
However… he had done so anyway.
He was very curious to see just how far his new strength could translate.
He had experienced a taste of it in the Monkey King's Split Realm, but that was in a pretty controlled environment and he could really dial in on his opponents.
This, though…
Chi.
The whistling in the air became louder.
'Seems like they're here.'
Sylas rubbed his thumb against his fingers, letting the last of the sand fall to the ground.
He had never really used Death Runes before, but his understanding of them wasn't small. After all, he had the Death Seal and had mastered it to the D-tier already. Soon, he would grasp it to the C-tier.
Since he was going to fight against a world, he might as well do it the easiest way possible.
ROAR.
Gogo manifested in motes of light and sharp horns behind Sylas. His aura grew, the light of the Demi-God Plane pooling into his body.
Sylas raised an eyebrow when he saw this. This should have happened already back when they went to the past. Why was it that Gogo was only experiencing this now?
The only explanation was that Gogo had done it on purpose.
Interesting…
Sylas must have not noticed because Vipermancy was dulled when they went to the past. His Profession worked based on the Impotent System, the only reason Sylas could access them at all was because he had grown them all beyond the Fragmented Grades, so he had some basic control over them beyond what the impotent system could provide.
This was important because Sylas' Profession allowed him an innate understanding of his contracts. If that sense was dulled, it was no wonder Gogo had managed to do things he didn't understand.
The question was, then… why did Gogo resist entering Demi-Godhood until now?
'Interesting.' Sylas thought with a slight smile as he noticed something.
"You can take the eastern hemisphere," Sylas said, pointing in one direction, "I'll take the west."
Gogo frowned, then groaned and complained.
"You can take the stronger side the day you're stronger than me."
Gogo made another show of complaining and roared at Sylas' face. For a beast, his breath was surprisingly refreshing. Sylas hardly felt different than if a normal wall of wind hit him.
"Life isn't fair." Sylas replied, turning in the direction of the whistling group of people.
Gogo growled and then turned toward the east. Sylas almost felt bad for the enemies he would come across.
Almost.
Plumes of darkness began to pool out from Sylas' feet, and then his hands, then above his head.
He had never really used Death Runes as the mainstay in battle, but he had a feeling that doing so against these people might be very, remarkably interesting.
He pointed out a finger and then drew a character.
BANG.
He slapped out a palm.
The instant the enemies entered range, they were hit with a wall of black that eroded everything in its path.
