Chapter 2281: Three Options

Chapter 2281: Three Options

BOOM.

The ship rocked and it felt like it might collapse any moment now.

It was little more than an illusion. The S-tiers weren't even close enough to do real damage, and even if they were, they would have to wail on the ship for weeks, maybe even months before they could do any real damage to it.

The ship was an S-tier item for a reason. It would take someone exceptionally strong within the S-tier to do real damage to it.

However… doing damage to the ship was one matter. Breaking its force fields and breaking in was a different matter entirely. The moment the shields ran out of energy and Sylas ran dry on Aether Stones, the S-tiers would be able to step onto the ship themselves.

At that point, it wouldn't matter how sturdy the ship was. What he wanted to protect most would be in the line of fire.

He leaned over the controls, his breathing steady.

Cheri was growing more worried with every passing moment, but when she looked over at the man and woman, they looked… oddly calm.

From what Cheri could tell, the both of them were just F-tiers. They shouldn't be this calm in front of her, let alone the S-tiers that were chasing after them.

At that moment, a huge screen appeared toward the ceiling of the ship, the faces of a pair of S-tiers chasing after them flashing into existence.

Maybe because of their senses, the S-tiers immediately looked into the camera, making it look as though they were staring at them through the screen.

Their lips moved. They seemed to be speaking out some threats, but Sylas had them on mute. He had no interest in listening to what they had to say.

"Do you know anything about them?" Sylas asked.

Cheri shook her head slowly. She looked toward Sylas' back, but he was still standing over the controls. He hadn't looked at her at all.

Now that she thought about it… how was a D-tier controlling an S-tier ship with such deft control.

The speed of an S-tier ship was such that there was no way Sylas' senses should have been fast enough to react to it.

Granted… the depths of space was mostly empty nothingness. But one mistake and they'd end up in the middle of a star and kill themselves before they knew what happened.

'Dammit.' Cheri cursed herself. She kept spiraling. It felt like she was losing her composure every time she went down a path her thoughts led her down.

How could she not be as calm as a pair of F-tiers?

'Maybe they just don't know what's going on.'

As the saying went, ignorance was bliss.

Cheri pressed a hand to her chest and took a deep breath. 'Think, Cheri. Stop relying on other people. How do we get out of this?'

She came up with nothing.

Sylas was only covering all of his bases when he asked if Cheri knew the S-tiers. He already expected that she wouldn't, but it cost him nothing but a small piece of his mind to ask.

His main focus now was getting them out of there. There were only three viable choices, each one of which had their own problems.

The first was simply outpacing them. This ship should be faster than them, but Sylas wasn't pushing it at its full speed for several reasons.

For one, it would burn through his Aether Stones too fast. He was barely keeping up as is.

Second, the senses of an S-tier were impossibly broken. As a Legend, Fanelei was able to lock onto Sylas' aura from across several galaxies and teleport him to the Weaver Guild.

Though this was the Demi-God Plane and not the Mortal Plane, the two chasing him were also S-tiers, not A-tiers.

It would be meaningless to outrun them for a short time if their Wills were still locked onto them. And the worst part was that so long as their Wills were attached to the ship, it made the second possibility impossible as well.

That second option was escaping into the Creation World or any world of equivalent potential.

The Wills of S-tiers, or powerful existences in general, could easily play the same role as World Spirits of a world might. That was to say that the Creation Key would have to carve out space within them in order to open its portal.

The moment the S-tiers sensed that, they would move their Wills to stop the connection from forming.

If Sylas wanted to do this, he would have to find a way to cut free of their Wills.

And then there was the third option.

Kill them.

But how was he going to do that, exactly?

Sylas' hands blurred as he continued to control the ship. He was practically on auto-pilot, his thoughts spinning with wild, impossible ideas.

But nothing he thought of had more than 10% odds of working.

Not a single one of those thoughts involved the mother of his child, though. And they never would.

Sylas' eyes began to glow.

Running… simply wasn't his style. It left him feeling uncomfortable and weak, two things he very much didn't like.

Since they thought he was such a simple target that they could chase with such leisure…

Sylas looked up at the screen to find the sneering faces of the two. He still wasn't paying attention to anything they were saying, but he had made a decision.

'Let's end this now, then.'

Sylas' gaze flashed. He bet if he got rid of these S-tiers, it would count as wiping out a Sin Clan, now wouldn't it?

The worst mistake they were ever going to make was coming after him like this.

Sylas took a deep breath and his eyes blazed with emerald flames.

He spread his arms out wide, and then.

BANG.

He slapped his palms out together and roared. His body flashed with might as horns grew from his forehead.

Then he pulled on his Hibernation Realm…

Hard.
