Chapter 2283: I Must

Chapter 2283: I Must

Sylas coughed up a mouthful of blood. At that very moment, in a furious tirade, the Crimson Eye appeared. It looked over Sylas, tall and strong.

The surrounding region was immediately blocked as the beam passed right through them all, eviscerating Santz and Eloise down to their very last. Not even ashes were left of them.

But Sylas, on the other hand, was locked under the oppressive might of the impotent system. In fact… ...

Gentrixaul retreated from light years away, his eyes bulging with fury as he realized his target was still alive. He roared, surging forward.

He was too far away to fight against the system at this distance. If he could just get closer… ...

Sylas buckled beneath the pressure, but he was ready. He forcefully tore his Will in half with a roar, shattering his demonic form.

So many times before, he had let enemies go because they managed to slip away from the ire of the system. Now… It was his turn.

Chi.

Space was torn apart as Gentrixaul appeared. He crossed the universe so fast it felt like he had always been there. But even so… He was still a step too late.

Sylas ripped himself free and he, his ship, and everyone else within it was torn out of the God Plane.

...

Sylas collapsed to a knee, coughing up mouthfuls of blood. His mind was hazy, crimson liquids seeping out between his teeth. His body felt like it had been torn inside out, inverted, and then worn as someone else's skin.

The feeling was entirely too uncomfortable. However…

The S-tiers were dead.

He took deep, heaving breaths.

His parents rushed over, his father propping him up as his mother checked on his condition. They were having a hard time hiding the worry in their eyes, and it left Cheri baffled.

Maybe if she had had a family in her life she would have immediately understood the sort of relationship Sylas had with these two. But even now, she was a bit lost. She could only watch as the people who hadn't reacted very much as S-tiers chased after them, looked like they were going to lose their minds because Sylas was a little hurt.

As far as she could tell, this was certainly just "a little" hurt. If these were all the injuries you got after escaping a duo of S-tiers, you should be counting your lucky stars. She didn't know any other way to look at things.

Cheri grunted, slowly picking herself up and off the ground.

Had they really survived.

She collapsed backward, coughing up a mouthful of blood herself. She looked up at the screen just to find nothing around them for countless light years.

"He…"

Cheri was in too much of a daze. But her eyes were slowly widening as she stopped being so distracted by Isolde and Cedric and finally began to internalize what happened.

They had… escaped from two S-tiers. Sylas had wiped out dozens of A-tiers, only to come back and deal with their S-tiers soon afterward.

This was just…

There was just…

"… No way…" she breathed out.

Cheri remembered the embarrassment of Ryn figuring out exactly what she had about Sylas. She had been so confident earlier that only she could have done such a thing, only for Sylas to immediately get exposed.

But now she couldn't help but wonder if her assessment of herself as a Gold was overblown. Was she really a Gold?

Or did it take someone like Sylas to be a Gold?

What she had no idea about was the fact that Sylas' assessment wasn't categorized in terms of Gold or even Legendary.

He was listed as an uncontrollable variable.

"I will be fine." Sylas' voice cut through Cheri's thoughts. She leaned against a metal wall, her gaze barely focused as she looked up at him. "For now, we need to head back to the guilds."

Cedric and Isolde looked toward one another and shook their heads. Their son… really was too reckless.

"Sylas." Isolde said seriously.

"I must." Sylas replied before his mother could say more.

If Cheri was right about the connection the guild had to Legacy, it wouldn't be long before news of what happened here reached them, especially with the deaths of two S-tiers following up.

The only logical decision to make was one where he went back to finish wiping them all out.

Plus, there was another reason he had to do this…

And that was the quest looming over his head.

He couldn't give up such a valuable opportunity even if he was on his last legs.

He had true Infinite Will now. Even though he had ripped his own in half, it would recover with enough time.

Plus, considering the other things he had learned about Gentrixaul, and the fact the latter now knew he was on the Demi-God Plane, it probably wouldn't be long before those chickens came home to roost as well.

It had to be remembered that Cheri had said Legacy was close to replicating the Gluttony Seed as well, and that was because Gentrixaul's aura had triggered a large Quicktime Event on the Demi-God Plane that led to a feral evolution of the Serpentes here.

Back then, Gentrixaul had been trying to target the Mortal Plane. But now, if his main target was the Demi-God Realm… The short of it was that Sylas only wanted to deal with one problem at a time, and right now that one problem would be the damned Quest looming over his head.

Even if he was injured, he had to go back and wipe them out.

This would also be a lesson for the rest of the world.

The Grimblades weren't an existence that could be casually toyed with.

What Sylas didn't know was that his sister was already following bread crumbs. A pair of S-tiers streaking across the universe, chasing after an S-tier ship, couldn't be so easily hidden. Many were already talking about it on the Nexus.

And Elara was already planning a PR battle of all PR battles.
