Genius Club

Chapter 1406: 49: What Is 42

Chapter 1406: Chapter 49: What Is 42

“If Einstein could see the real future, see the fading of the Millennium Stakes, see the World-Ending White Light… can the geniuses of the Genius Club truly save humanity’s future?”

Lin Xian placed the Golden Badge on the invitation letter, then put them together in the vacuum safe, and locked it:

“I think there’s still hope.”

After pressing the lock button.

The safe made a hissing sound, once again turning the inside into a vacuum.

Lin Xian stood up again and continued to say:

“The emergence of humanity is a miracle in terms of biology and probability; Earth is a place that nurtures miracles, and I have great faith in human potential. However… we need a [true leader] to guide these geniuses on the right path.”

Hearing Lin Xian’s bold words.

VV’s eyes flashed alternately with excitement, lifting its clip:

“A new Genius Club! This is… this is so cool! It’s like the coolest transition in a Hollywood movie!”

“Count me in, count me in! There has to be a place for me in this! In terms of qualifications, I, VV, have sacrificed for the organization; in terms of strength, who’s afraid of me, a super Artificial Intelligence developed silently for 500 years; in terms of loyalty, there’s no need to mention it! Who can be more reliable than me, Lin Xian!”

“Don’t worry, don’t worry.”

Lin Xian patted VV’s temple, holding down the trash bin that wanted to jump up:

“In my Genius Club, there will definitely be a place for you. But for now, the priority is to search Newton’s house for information.”

“The data in the computer, and on the hard drive, and handwritten notebooks and such… Let’s divide the work and see if we can find some useful information.”

After several hours of searching, Lin Xian and VV combed through every corner of Newton’s house.

The results yielded little.

Regarding the matter of the cosmic constant 42 they wanted to know the most, there wasn’t a single clue; it seems Newton and Copernicus were very cautious about this matter, only allowing such intelligence to be stored in their minds.

However, they did uncover a lot about Newton’s background, the relationship with Copernicus, and why they wanted to kill mathematicians and scientists.

“Regarding Newton’s real age, and his disguise to attend club meetings, we did guess correctly.”

Lin Xian closed a notebook and leaned back in his chair:

“These people living in the 20th century indeed had a habit of recording information with pen and paper, many things had to be written down in notebooks to feel secure.”

“But to some extent, in the presence of big data, cloud backup, and internet traces, these notebooks indeed protect personal privacy better.”

“Very grateful to Newton for maintaining this good habit, allowing us to obtain these long-lost pieces of information after killing him.”

VV nodded:

“Old habits die hard.”

It said softly:

“The hardest thing to change about a person is their ingrained habits, just like your habit of spinning a pen, Lin Xian. In this high-tech age, habits even more accurately distinguish a person than biological traits or DNA.”

“Let’s take all these things and go find Jask.”

Lin Xian stood up, neatly organizing the valuable notebooks on the table:

“After we see Jask, we’ll tell him everything about Newton, and then inform him of my plan to establish a new Genius Club.”

VV’s lid popped open with a bang, pointing to the inside of the trash bin:

“Just put them inside me, all those notebooks and that safe, you can’t carry them by yourself, just throw them in here.”

Lin Xian blinked:

“Very novel idea.”

So.

He first picked up the vacuum safe containing the last invitation letter, placing it inside VV’s trash bin, and then put in many of Newton’s notebooks.

Closed the lid.

A perfect suitcase.

“Traveling with you is really convenient.”

Lin Xian complimented:

“If the design of your head was a bit smoother, I could ride on you… but currently, there are too many protrusions on top, indicating the designer never considered this use at the start.”

“Hey hey hey! Don’t push your luck and ask for too much!”

VV spun around three times, dissatisfied:

“I’m already very capable!”

After leaving Newton’s residence, the man and the bin boarded a private plane, heading back to Old Brooklyn in Mi Country, Jask’s private territory, to meet this aged world tycoon.

Jask sat in a chair, flipping through Newton’s notebooks:

“I never expected that when Newton joined the Genius Club, he was so young, and… had been disguising himself for so long.”

“That’s right.”

Lin Xian agreed:

“From these notebooks, it’s clear that before joining the Genius Club, Copernicus and Newton were not acquainted and had no interaction; when they first met at the Genius Club, Copernicus was in his 50s, while Newton was only 20, a very young university student.”

Jask sighed, feeling emotional:

“At 20, being able to decipher the code in ‘The Sorrowful Einstein’ painting and answer three test questions correctly, Newton truly deserves the title of a genius. It’s no wonder he could come up with such a complex plan later on.”

“Together, they inquired from Einstein numerous truths and secrets about the future. Unfortunately… from a hindsight perspective, many pieces of this intelligence were evidently false, and even Einstein was deceived.”
