Chapter 1421: Chapter 1: Amnesia, Broken Dreams, Intertwined Time

“VV?”

The young girl CC furrowed her brow, looking at the middle-aged man with messy long hair and a beard covering half his face.

She knew, of course, that this name was fake.

But…

Considering that the man before her seemed to have lost his memory, it was natural that he wouldn’t remember his real name, so taking a false name was understandable.

“Alright, VV.”

CC accepted this setting and spread her hands:

“But you still haven’t answered my question. How did you suddenly appear here? I just passed by here a moment ago, and there was absolutely no one.”

“From underground.”

The man pointed to the ground, kicked aside the messy layer of fallen leaves, and showed CC the silver-shining makeshift elevator:

“There’s an underground space here, old, broken, and ancient. I climbed up from that underground space. Do you want to take a look inside?”

CC shook her head:

“No, no, of course not.”

She wouldn’t go to such a dangerous place for no reason.

But this man seemed somewhat innocent and very honest, answering everything truthfully, so CC slightly lowered her guard:

“So, do you have any plans?”

“Don’t know.” The man shook his head.

“Where are you going next?”

“Don’t know.” The man shook his head.

“Ah…”

CC rubbed her temples.

It seems the man had completely lost his memory, asking anything was futile:

“Alright then, VV, good luck.”

She waved her hand, ready to leave:

“I advise you to leave this forest as soon as possible. There are many wild beasts here, and many hunting evil people… With your blank mind and without any memory, if they catch you, you’re sure to be taken back as a slave.”

“Slave?”

When the man heard the word, a faint impression surfaced in his mind.

It was a very subtle feeling.

Like wearing glasses covered in fog—able to see the outline but not clearly; just as he had some impression of the word “slave” yet couldn’t articulate it.

The feeling of amnesia was indeed painfully fragmented.

“Yes.”

The young girl CC nodded:

“These people are very bad, and they have guns, so you better run quickly. Heading south might be somewhat better, but… maybe only somewhat. The current world is like this; everywhere is pretty much the same.”

“Then why are you still wandering around here?”

The man raised an obvious question.

The young girl named CC was very young, her height barely reaching his chest, very small and frail.

Although she was holding a rusty knife with a reverse grip earlier, this combination seemed to have no combat power.

Not to mention.

She herself said there were both beasts and armed bad people in this forest; if caught, she’d be made a slave…

Such a dangerous place, though she advised him to stay away, why was this young girl still venturing here?

“I have no choice.”

Speaking of this matter, CC looked dejected, biting her lower lip, clutching the knife tightly:

“I must rescue my mom and dad.”

The man blinked.

Amnesia doesn’t mean losing intellect; connecting the context, he roughly guessed the plot:

“I more or less understand.”

After pausing, the man continued:

“So your parents, for some reason, were captured by those bad people to be slaves, and you intend to rescue them with this little knife.”

“That’s right.”

CC nodded slightly:

“We originally had our own village, a gathering of people speaking China’s language, living off farming, and life was harmonious.”

“But just a few months ago, those bad people suddenly arrived, took everything we had, burned our houses, and captured everyone to be slaves in their tribe.”

“At that time, my parents hid me in a well to escape the disaster. I stayed silent in the well, waiting for a long time until it was quiet before climbing out using a rope.”

“When I came up…the village was completely burned down, not a single living person left, only corpses and everything charred on the ground.”

“Oh.”

The man grunted, which was more or less what he understood:

“I feel that since you’ve survived by luck, you should cherish this life. Going with a small knife for revenge or trying to save your parents from the Evil Tribe is almost tantamount to suicide.”

“They’re adults, you’re a child; they have guns, while you only have a rusty knife; according to your account, they have many people, but you are just alone… What do you have to fight them with? Basically, you’re just giving yourself away, or sending over a small slave voluntarily.”

“So, I recommend you run to a safe place for refuge. Don’t waste your parents’ goodwill; honestly, it’s hopeless.”

Gurgle gurgle gurgle gurgle!

The man’s stomach made a growling sound, exceptionally loud in the silent forest.

“…”

The young girl and the man lowered their heads, looking at the man’s stomach.

“Sorry haha.”

The bearded man chuckled awkwardly, rubbing his empty stomach:

“I feel like I haven’t eaten in a long time, very hungry. Do you have…?”

“No!”

CC quickly retreated two steps, covering the small cloth bag on her back, shaking her head rapidly:

“No!”

Uh…

Clumsy acting.

After all, she’s just a kid, she doesn’t have many tricks up her sleeve.

“Alright.”

The man didn’t intend to snatch the child’s belongings, turned and waved his hand:

“Thank you, CC, thank you for telling me so many things. Rest assured, I don’t mean to take your food.”

“This looks like a primitive forest over a ruined site, theoretically there should be plenty of wild fruits to find. I’m going to search for food now, wish you good luck.”
